  1. Sadly, with his age and injury history, he'd probably be lucky to be picked up by anyone else.
  2. At least Morton's a definite 'in'.
  3. I see where you're coming from with regards the backroom deals and lack of transparency, but it's not unexpected. In fact, if I were a betting man I'd wager that most would probably feel that this is actually preferable to having two tickets fighting for election at our AGM. Sure, but if PG and co. retire, Stynes and his group will stand for election, and it'll essentially be a no-contest.
  4. Hannabal knows the score re: Rivers. I admit I would be disappointed to see him line up against us, though.
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong - You've asserted that you want a smooth transition. You've also asserted that PG's gone, and it seems like Stynes is the only 'aspirant'. If this is the case, when you hear about the Stynes vision for the future seems immaterial to me, since members won't have a say either way. The only way members will 'get a say' is if there's a 'hostile' challenge to the Board, in which case we can all vote at the next AGM.
  6. Trading experienced players has to seen in the context of where your Club is at. If we're unlikely to challenge for a flag in the next x years, and Mr. Experienced Player will only play on for x years, it's a very different proposition to trading an experienced player for draft picks when you think you're a contender.
  7. Rubbish? Show me a Club where a new ticket announced their preferred Board of Directors and their platform publically before any deal was done with the incumbents, and I'll show you reports of board instability etc. If there's to be a 'smooth transition', it'll be a done deal - you and I won't get a say. I don't see where you're coming from...how do you get the 'smooth transition' that you want, with rank-and-file members (ie. everyone) being fully informed about potential challengers and their platform, and members having a say? If there's no done deal behind closed doors, you'll have two groups competing against each other come the AGM, and further talk that we're a basket case.
  8. After being dropped, he wasn't on fire at Sandringham. He got suspended a few rounds ago for striking, in the same match that he apparently started running into some form. Since then he's had an injury (that he picked up at training, I think), and we've also had a bye. There's a thread or two over at Demonology. There's some talk that he's got ego issues, and didn't take his demotion well. In the post-match press conference on Monday, Bailey mentioned Newton as one of a couple of guys who could fill the void left by Robertson and Neitz in the forward line, so I expect to see him back soon.
  9. If Stynes and Gardner want to organise a smooth transition, how can they have the new ticket come out and publically detail their designs and intentions before a deal has been done? I'd also like to know what Stynes had in store for the footy Club, who he wanted to bring on board, and who was getting the chop. However, if you want the smooth transition, which you've said you do, I can't see how it can be any other way. The alternative is to have Stynes and co. announce their ticket and what they stand for, and force PG and co. into a position where they either fall on their swords, or resist the challenge...all played out in the public sphere, with all the talk of Board/Club instability that it'd bring.
  10. No problems, Mono. I agree. PS. Y_M is a far better troll than realist.
  11. I agree. What was on offer for Kowal? Was he out of contract?
  12. If it's going to take us 10, we may as well trade away everyone drafted before 2006
  13. Indeed. I find it odd that realist takes a jab at me by labelling me as a member of Demonland. Fwiw, I read and post on both regularly (and joined Demonology first). Sure it is - I've attached some pics to explain it. One shows the thread itself, the other shows the thread title/link highlighted on the Demonology forum page. I hope these help:
  14. I agree that some would find the coaches report interesting. I was interested when I saw the thread title, but not so much when I read it. As I said, what did you find interesting/enlightening? Btw, I'm not sure making a suggestion re: linking to an article you made a thread to talk about, and giving you some advice on how to do so, warrants a sarcastic jibe.
  15. I didn't find the coaches report particularly interesting or enlightening. What did you find noteworthy? PS. If you're talking about an article or whatever, I'd say it's a good idea to link to the relevant page - even by just cutting and pasting the URL into your message. Almost all forums have 'important' threads 'stickied' at the top of the board. Check the 'if you want to join Demonology' sticky thread if you want to join Demonology
  16. Absolutely. Neitz and Robertson are both injured long-term. Neitz has't just decided to throw in the towel. If we wanted to just pension off an Yze because we felt he isn't worth playing anymore, we couldn't promote a rookie.
  17. I posed the question of why, if your assumptions were correct, there was a push to get members to games. I'm well aware that there are benefits to getting supporters signed up as MFC members.
  18. Just noticed this Sylvia and leadership / leadership group? Were you thinking of someone else?
  19. Yep. I don't think so. IMHO, we'd be unlikely to delist him this year, given his early years were plagued with injuries, and the fact he's still quite young. To the guy who said Sylvia wouldn't be going anywhere, surely we'd entertain a decent trade offer. Not a delist, though.
  20. Holland would give us some structure up forward though, giving us something to kick to, and the ability to at least create a contest and thus bring the ball to ground the majority of times. I'm not sure we'll have that with the other guys that have been bandied about. Shame we don't have two of him for this week
  21. I doubt we'd get for Rivers what we think he's worth to us. For pick 15, the risk/return doesn't seem right for us at that price.
  22. If so, why is there a great push for members to attend games? Too many assumptions there - would be good to find out more info
