  1. Nephew of Michael, plays for St Kilda, the MFC and Essendon are circling... http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-10-10/dons-circle-contracted-nephew-long-of-club-great Could he be part of the deal with Kent?
  2. Let's just wait until a deal is made (if made), then we can analyse the deal. In the meantime, see my post above about not looking at a possible Pick 5 for May in isolation. There will be more to it than that.
  3. Could include their 2nd rounder back. Who knows. The point I was making was that I doubt it would be as straightforward as Pick 5 for May. There would be more to the deal than that. But, we shouldn't underestimate May either (not saying he's worth Pick 5, but he's a quality player).
  4. I would imagine that pick 5 could include Kade Kardashian too.
  5. I think we set somewhat of a precedence last year when giving up 2 x first rounders for Lever. Personally, if a trade is to take place, I can see; Out; Hogan In; Pick 6 (2018 - presuming they get that for Neale), 2019 1st Round I would then try and trade our 2019 1st Round pick to Gold Coast for May (would require a combination of other picks too, possibly including our 2nd Round pick this year). Means we will keep Pick 6 for this year, and then have Freo's 1st pick next year (Pick 1 hopefully, but realistically 2-8).
  6. I take it you don't like reading newspapers, Sue?
  7. Think that was pretty obvious when we delisted Filipovic and King. In 2019, we are going to have the best ruck in the league, and a more than capable back-up who will continue to get better. A lot of sides would be in envy of our position here.
  8. Didn't think we played our intraclub games on the MCG anymore, Bob?
  9. Well, they suck bot bot then, don't they.
  10. It may have been mentioned earlier on this thread (can't be bothered looking), but there was a stage in the later parts of this season where the idea was discussed that Gold Coast could rip up May's current contract, effectively making him a Free Agent. The reason for doing this is the compo pick they would receive would be of far greater value than what May would command in a trade. With or without Jesse's departure, this is hopefully something the MFC are discussing with the Suns. I'm sure the AFL would look after it's love child if they approached with this request.
  11. Don't think that's right Jim. Gold Coast have selected a couple of state league players already I think. As Saber and Cards said above, the deal with Geelong makes no sense at all, and is just plain stupid.
  12. See Carlton have traded their State League compensation picket Geelong. Means Geelong can pick up some 19yo kid from SA (has played 1 season of senior footy in the SANFL), and they (Carlton) are getting a pick in the National Draft in return. I didn't read much about the compensation picks they and the Gold Coast got, and the conditions of those picks, but I'm sure Gil's intentions wouldn't have been for them to trade in to the National Draft with. What's a bet this bloke turns out to be a star for Geelong, and Carlton manage to fluck up their ND pick?! (That said, the AFL website was talking about the possibility of the pick being involved in the McGovern deal).
  13. Give him bit more credit than that - Paul Johnson was one of our great back pocket players during very dark times.
  14. For no reason at all (maybe just the 'vibe'), I feel that we are happy to have Hogan off our list. We will know in time, especially if a deal does get done and it's less than 2 x first rounders. We'd be mad to accept anything less if Hogan, unless there are circumstances why we'd be happy to accept just 1 x first rounder. For me, the caveat is his injury. I just wonder if the club has concerns about Hogan's body. I know they told us that they got on to the navicular early and he will make a full recovery from it, but are we concerned about his body's ability to stand the rigours of playing AFL, especially as a KPF?
  15. What makes a club a "destination"? A number of things, which could be one, some, or all of the below; - Dollars - Currency to trade - Club reputation with development, coaching staff, success, culture - Facilities at the club, including the programs offered to assist with the transition with life after football - Premiership window/chances of success - Opportunities that are presented by being a "x" club player (eg. your offield profile would be greater with the likes of Collingwood, compared to Gold Coast) - Where they are from, especially if they play for a club outside of their origin These are all considerations of a player when looking at changing clubs.
  16. You started it. Severely overrating Kent. He's just not that good.
  17. Be surprised if we don't get offered, and accept, a 3rd rounder for him.
  18. Really? We paid around mid 20 for Melksham and Hibberd, and I know which ones I MUCH prefer...
  19. Cheers for posting that. So I'm not a million miles away with my estimates then?! I think you're right - I would expect all Priority 1 members (that applied) and a majority of Priority 2 will get a ticket. (Win this week then) BRING IT ON!!!!
  20. I would like to see a break down each membership category per club. I think you will find that the amount of pet memberships, baby memberships, and 3-game memberships are often counted in some clubs figures. Point is, out of our 42k members, we may find that 20% of those are Priority 1, 35% are Priority 2, 35% are Priority 3, and babies and dogs don't count in any category. That said, I could be wrong with that, hence why I would like to get an idea of what the membership category breakdown is.
  21. There is without a doubt a gulf between his best and worst, but I think we can carry his worst, knowing what his better and best provides. Which is why I said I would continue to play him, even if his stats don't show the extra work he does.
  22. I've accepted that Hannan will likely have 6 kicks each week. Some weeks he'll kick 1 goal and have minimal impact, other weeks he'll kick 3 and have a strong influence on the result. I'm not in favour of carrying players like this, but I think we do in this case.
  23. And I reckon if that wrestle had've gone on much longer, it wouldn't have been as light as it was.
  24. Watching Kennedy v Goldsack in that first final was like watching two snails trying to mate. The week off may have given him more healing time, but geez, he was a long way off two week ago.
  25. So if Smith wasn't picked, how do we match up on Kennedy, Darling and their resting ruck?
