  1. (1) Deja vu. (2) If $3m a year worth of sponsorships is nothing to be sneezed at, that means that IF Energy Watch were still on board, given their $1.9m a season "contribution", it would mean that we would be satisfied with a $1.1m contribution for the FoJ. Not having a shot at you Hardtack, just interested to hear your thoughts, as it appears we share a similar view (we are in the minority).
  2. Wow, considering you see the game differently to the rest of us, I might have to snap up some of that $4 being offered for a Melbourne win. Will "probably" win wouldn't fill me with confidence if I were a Toiges supporter, especially coming from your keyboard BH! Sellars MUST play on Vickery when he goes forward. I'm one of very few that actually sees a lot of potential in Vickery, and from memory, both games last year against us he was their main forward (due to the standard Frawley job on Reiwoldt). Jury's out for me with Sellar, but they've come back after brief deliberation regarding Rivers and it aint flash. I have to say that Petterd needs to lift his intensity and actually go and get the ball. While it is hard to criticse our forwards at the moment, due to the standard of our midfield, when you play on the half forward flank like Petterd does (and is best suited), you need to be just as effective in the midfield, and be able to generate your own possession. He and Howe are, in my view, fighting for the same spot, especially when Sylvia comes back, and I honestly believe Howe does more than Ricky Bobby.
  3. Not all of Joel's turnovers convert to a goal, and regardless, I don't think he is the reason for us losing by 100+ points. Tough ask now for Greeny, this is now about his character and attitude. I hope for his sake that he can work is butt off and return to the senior side, and get to play a good amount of games in what would appear to be his final season. He has been a great clubman, a great footballer for the MFC, and while there are no passengers, he deserves to leave the game with integrity, and I'm sure Neeld & Co are of the same opinion.
  4. Not sure if it's a "done" thing, but any chance we can get the Webjet logo and a link to their home page put up in the Demonland banner on the right hand side? If we have it up there for a fortnight or something as a good gesture/thank you. Might not be allowed, just a thought.
  5. What is market value RR? I'm talking real cash, not something some angry midget promised that was never there. So B59, now that the FoJ sponsorship has been announced, and it would be safe to assume that it's not $1.9m or more, does that mean you owe me a beer? While I'm sure you won't be getting the wallet out due to the fact that the amount hasn't been published, I'd think that if it was equal to or greater than Energy Watch, as you believed it should be, then I think the Club would've been giving us a ball park figure, especially considering the past month we've had to deal with. Smartest thing you have said since posting Striker (no disrespect to anything else you have said)! You'll love it.
  6. Ah, Jose, generally the most accurate words are those that are written, not the ones we think are hidden. Earlier in this thread, I mentioned body language being a very important thing to change. I believe if we can change our negative body language, which is often on display when one observes Rivers closely, then it's a start in this culture change that we are hoping to see at the Club. But, we can't expect some players to do it if the blokes at the top (captains) don't do it, the old "follow the leader" thing.
  7. That I live interstate, I won't be at the game, and would like to know if our new captains are doing the little things that I mentioned. Wasn't that hard to work out was it?
  8. I know what you're getting at here Dan. But I have a simple request for someone who is going to the ground on Saturday. If the unthinkable is happening (ie Richmond is kicking our arse), can you please keep an eye on our two captains to see what their body language is like? I will be watching on TV, so won't see much of it. I'm hoping you will see a lot of encouragement, especially after we kick a goal (that goes for defenders too), and I'm hoping we won't see any heads dropped. Cheers in advance.
  9. Cheers mate, didn't think about that too well! Doesn't answer the last question, but that's not for this thread. Cheers
  10. Hopefully not getting too off topic (although every topic seems to mention this bloke at some stage), but what is the rule as far as Father/Sons? Reason I ask is that West Coast took Mitch Morton in the 2004 draft under the F/S rules, yet they didn't take Cale. Is it a ruling that a club can only access 1 F/S out of the same "bag", or is it endless - If you know what I mean?! If not, was there any reason WC didn't take Cale?
  11. Poor Joel Mac, one of not many that puts in 100% week after week. I have a feeling that Neeld likes his work ethic, and at the current state of play, would rather someone with his attitude turning it over than dropping him for someone with all the ability under the sun but not putting in. In regards to the OP, I don't think Green will make a very good defender. Personally, I think we are wasting our time playing him anywhere other than a forward pocket. When the ball gets down there, he's a very good contested mark, and he's usually good for a couple of goals a game, even through ground work (as opposed to set shots). If we can increase out I50's with Green forward, we will be a better team. We won't be a better team if we rely on Green to do the increasing of our I50's.
  12. * Clark taking a mark inside 50 * Our best players being (in order); Watts, Trengove, Grimes, Frawley, Jamar, Clark, Bartram * Dustin Martin and James Magner going toe-to-toe, put a cage around them if need be, but I'm not certain who will walk out alive * Melbourne win
  13. Your opinion is fine. The only player out of those listed from Essendon that I would want is Watson.
  14. We probably would've wasted it on a 196cm kid that we wanted to turn in to a power forward, who only runs around on the wing, so I'm glad someone put it to good use...
  15. Hille < Jamar Fletcher > Rivers Watson > Green McVeigh < Moloney It's a bloody tough one, because obviously we don't know what happens (ie what is said) on the field or behind closed doors. I wouldn't call Hille a better leader than Jamar, Fletcher appears to be a far greater leader than Rivers, Watson easily has Green covered (especially when comparing them to last year when both were fairly fresh captains), and while McVeigh appears to make a lot of noise, I think Moloney would offer more as a leader. But, I could be totally wrong. One thing I strongly believe is that on paper, I don't think they are that much ahead of us, I just don't understand why they perform so much better. I especially don't think it's that their leadership is far superior.
  16. I don't think those players are much better than our equivalents.
  17. I may be wrong, but wasn't the admission from the coach that there were certain areas of Aaron's game that weren't up to AFL standard? He went to WA and they put him through 2 hard, running sessions. Perhaps it was the running/chasing/endurance side that weren't up to AFL standard? Just a thought. FWIW - I'd have him at Casey this weekend.
  18. I'm a massive believer of the body language impact. When a player drops their head after giving away a free kick, or their opponent kicking a goal, it spreads like the dreaded, not only within our team, but the opposition see it and feed off it. Happens in all sports at all levels. This is one area that I am desperate to see our new captains demolish out of our team. This is a great way for them to make an impact, as at this stage in their career, I don't think they have the ability to plonk themselves in the centre square and chage the game (it will come). Between the new coach/FD, and the new skippers/leadership group, it is vital that these parties change the culture of the Melbourne Football Club. This will not happen overnight, and it will most likely require the whole thing to be broken down, with each part being work on individually. I believe this would be the best place for the two Jack's to start at, as it's not a massive change (not for most players at least), and it will be quite evident on match day or during match reviews. But, like all things when trying to change a culture, those that are driving it MUST lead by example.
  19. Thank god you didn't say tall and skinny, then we'd have no hope in guessing who it (allegedly) was...
  20. Back on subject for everyone's benefit... As I have said previously, who knows what has happened in the lead-up to signing Energy Watch to a sponsorship deal. We would like to think that our Club operated in a professional manner, and undertook all relevant background checks required in this situation. In other words, I hope it's a case of just plain bad luck that it all turned to cr@p, and as members, the expectation we have on all the decision makers within the Club should be nothing but utmost professionalism. Let's hope that we can see someone else (sponsor) come on board, and have $2m a year of actual cash sitting in the bank that they believe the MFC brand is worth. I would hate to think that areas such as the Football Department will take a hit from, and we need to restructure due to financial implications. From the players perspective, I'm quite sure they just want stability - there has been a neck of a lot of changes in the past couple of seasons, so let's give them no excuses not to perform to an elite standard. Cheers
  21. I know a number of Geelong supporters Old55, and I would've loved to record what they used to say about Hawkins - makes you sick how they carry on now. A bit like Watts and Morton on here! You just watch me hump Neeld's leg should he get us a flag! I love double standards!
  22. There's nothing else to talk about Demonator - it's a topic about something we have nothing of - SPONSORS!!!! Gotta fill the pages up with something!
  23. Sorry Nasher. I don't see how sticking up for myself when I'm being misquoted is picking a fight that's not there. It's totally inaccurate on Maurie's behalf, and quite disrespectful.
  24. So you "like" it when people make false claims? Interesting...
