Delistings/trades at end of the season
I think Roos knows who has and hasn't got trade value, hence why he is keeping certain players in the seniors, and others at Casey. He's also talking up specific players, which I'm in no doubt is a bid to lift their value again. My opinion... Players Roos believes have trade value; Watts - Roos saying he has the smartest footy IQ on the team, and that we are a better team when he is in. Really? He's either saying that for Jack's confidence, or he's showing the footy world that Jack would be a valuable pick up for the right team. Howe - Played forward and back, showing how versatile he is. Now he's up forward again and kicking some goals. Probably the highest trade value of any "unsafe" players in my view. Players on the borderline (ie need games in the second part of the season to determine where they are at); Grimes M Jones Bail Fitzpatrick Players Roos believes have no trade value; Terlich McKenzie Hunt I don't see any players outside of the above that will be offered for a trade or delisted. If they want to be moved on, it will cost the receiving club.

Jeff 'Wiz' Farmer
Ah, The Wiz. My all time equal favourite player - shares that title with Robbie Flower, and with Sean Wight a close third. "The" day against Collingwood was interesting. Dragged in the first half, then got a chance for redemption when Ben Beams broke his arm. The rest is history. The first minute or two of the 1998 final against North had me believing. Wiz took a hanger, and I thought it was going to be our night. I knew if we could roll them we would take it out. I think that was probably the year that should've been for us, more than any, including 1987 and 2002. Was inconsolable when he left - was like the bloke on that Hilux ad when the ute went over the cliff. To rub salt in, I think he kicked a winner against us at Freo one night, and celebrated in true Wizardry style. Still brought a smile to my face...bastard! Jaded (post #5) - Miller needs to look that way, and maintain it for the next 35 years. Seen what he's married to lately?

The official I love Dom Tyson thread
Posted the above (in a different thread) after our Round 6 loss to Sydney. I had trouble watching the game on Saturday, mainly because for a guy like me - mid 30's, married with children, unblemished record - I found it quite disturbing that my man crush was developing in to something more serious. The best thing I could come up with was a quite prayer that Dom will find a nice girl soon, and in the next couple of years she gives birth to a boy, so that I can do my best to arrange a marriage with my daughter. Sound strange? It was a lot less creepy than the other thoughts I had... Watching Roos' press conference after the Port game, I think he is finding it very difficult to keep a lid on this kid. It has been a long time since a MFC player has taken me to a happy place during a game. Jurrah flirted at times and The Wiz did it frequently, but they were more from a mercurial highlight. For pure class, I'm thinking maybe not since Flower?

The official I love Dom Tyson thread
The highlight with this post is trying to work out what the "censored" words are. I've tried to fill in the blanks, but I want to see if the poster and I are on the same page. Surely the mods can make it that any post that is having a go at Barrett escapes the censorship rules?

I'm happy with my Pendlebury comparison, thanks anyway. But, if he turns out anywhere near as good as Pendlebury or Black, then that's a big win. I'm confident that he has what it takes to achieve this.

Rjay, I think his strength is that he doesn't rush his handball. Yes, he can be quick, but he seems to get away with holding on to the ball that split second longer, drawing a player to him to free up a teammate. I think his errors by hand have more to do with his teammates not being on the same page as him. That will improve the more they play together.

The official I love Dom Tyson thread
The closest player-type that I could compare Dom to is Pendelbury. Just watch how good Dom's hands are in close. He handballs it to where the players need to be, which puts them in a world of space. I said it last week, players like Toumpas, Salem, Viney and Trengove should become very good friends of Dom's - he will make them famous.

Eddie Betts
As of next year I think you will find the role of the small forward in Melbourne's forward line will become redundant anyway. Given that Hogan never drops it, what crumbing will be required?
-
Eddie Betts
Might've made it up, but was it Roos that commented on the weekend that a couple of teams (may have included the Swans), were shying away from a true small forward? Regardless, Betts is a very interesting one. Obviously not worth the dollars he's asking, has also had a shocker this year, but given the firepower of our forward line next year, and compare it to what Carlton have got, he'd be a better player for us, but is that good enough?

Jack Watts
That's BS, Dr. If those 3 players want to play finals bad enough, they can make it happen in the red & blue. They have top training facilities, they have a handy FD, they have handy "support" players around them, and most importantly, they have the ability to move this club forward. If they want to take the easy way out and go to a team where they don't have the responsibility of leading a club to finals footy, then they can fcuk off. I will refuse to let players hold the club to ransom unless they have runs on the board. In any job, if your top performing employee is criticial about the runnings of the company they work for, then you listen. You don't sit back and listen to the lazy pricks who prefer to sit back and sulk rather than doing something about it. Until your words are actions, I dismiss anything you say. In that, if Nathan Jones wanted to leave, I'd be very concerned.

Jack Watts
If it's true, that the 3 players, Sylvia, Frawley and Watts, are considering their options so that they can play finals and possibly win a premiership, can I ask them this... If you're not happy with the onfield performance of this team, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. The 3 of you have enough talent and all should be leaders of this club, you have enough ability to work together and turn games around, it's time you stood up. This sh!t about wanting to play finals so you have to go elsewhere, why's that? So you can go to another Club, possibly make their best 22 knowing there are blokes in the team that are willing to work their arse off meaning you don't have to? Blaming the coach is utter bullsh!t - I'm sure he would look a bloody lot different if the 3 of you worked hard and got the best out of yourself. If it's true, it's pi$$ weak from the 3 players. If it's not, I'll happily withdraw my rant. Thank you.

Mark Neeld's Spray on Morton.
Jimcor - to the best of my knowledge, Neeld told Cale to kick with his right foot. That's not a public spray, it's a very obvious observation that cost us a goal, and was a factor in a number of our turnovers throughout the day (and has been for many weeks). If that is going to hurt his feelings, or if it has hurt yours, you both need to harden up. I'm sure Bailey would've had the same verbal exchange, and come to think of it, I wouldn't want to see any coach act differently. In regards to The Age article quoting a Demonland poster, I want to know if the author showed the article to Robbie57 before publishing it. Some of you will understand this question, as a few of us had a healthy debate about what papers can write without permission. Just trying to remember what the topic was...ah that's right, sponsorship! Edit - put the right posters name in. Cheers RP!

Mark Neeld's Spray on Morton.
Spot on I reckon Mono. Looked to me the words of "kick with your f**king right foot" were the ones coming out of Neeld's mouth, and good on him for saying it - I said it half way through the first quarter! There were at least 3 times where our player chose his "wrong" foot, and it resulted in a turnover. I'm not going to bag a player for turning it over when using their opposite foot, but when they have ample opportunity to use their preferred foot, but still chose the lower percentage option of their non-preferred, they will cop it from me. Watts in the first quarter when I think it was Didak that marked it. Morton did it in the position that has been discussed on this thread, and I'm pretty sure the other one was Trengove. I'm glad our coach thought the same way.
