Yeah it's called RFCSS Seriously though, I'm glad there's gonna be a clean-out and it's definitely necessary but I get the feeling we will be the youngest team in the competition next year even taking into account the new franchises. These are the players still on our list who will be 25 or over at round 1 2013; Bartram, Jones, Clark, Bate, Dunn, Martin, Sylvia, Rivers, Macdonald, Jamar, Davey Of these the following may very well be gone in a few weeks time Bartram, Bate, Dunn, Rivers, Macdonald leaving Jones, Clark, Martin, Sylvia, Jamar and Davey as our only players over 25 (and even then Davey is in the last year of a contract and has injury concerns, Sylvia is trade bait & Martin I am not sold on). We need to get some players in via trade and/or FA because if we don't we will not only have one of the youngest teams I've seen at the MFC, we will be waiting a few more years before we can even contemplate finals let alone win a flag (I'm talking waiting until our current rookies like Trengove, Grimes, Frawley, Blease, Watts are ~27yo).

Four players...
-
No, he could just go into the PSD or rookie draft where no club other than Adelaide or Port would touch him with a 60ft. pole
-
Fair enough, I disagree with you though. You can't make special circumstances for people no matter their background. You come to MFC you prepare yourself in a professional manner to play AFL grade footy to the best of your ability. Pretty sure Liam wasn't volunteering to play at the club and then they treated him like [censored], he was paid and paid well for the honour of playing for the MFC, the oldest club in the land, just as every player is. You can either do what's required and make the grade or you can't and join the long list of couldabeens. But you can't have different rules for different players you're either in or you're out.
-
What "type" of player is that?
-
You're blaming this on Neeld? Seriously? FFS our supporters can be utter morons some times - how about recognising the historical issues Liam had to deal with? How about some responsibility for the fact he has "allegedly" hacked someone in the head with a machete? This was a no-win situation for Neeld & the club, no matter what they did they would have been potted in a situation not of their own making.
-
Is it safe to say this has been the worst year in the club's history? I can't think of another that comes even remotely close.
-
Is this the news you'd heard previously when he flew back to Adelaide? I recall you saying something at the time about the whole story not being released, I assume this is it and they just wanted to wait til the season was over before it came out?
-
Not if Jurrah is in jail and can't play a game for them. We won't get anything for him, they will pick him up in the PSD or Rookie draft.

Clearly Neeld's been reading the criticism's of him on Demonland by hardnut, tonatopia and the like and has decided he needs to implement a more sophisticated game plan next year as his 2012 one was rubbish.

I hope we're not shy come list trimming time
Dr. Gonzo replied to Keepin up with the Joneses's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pretty hard to give him games when he's on the sidelines with a busted ankle and then a busted jaw. He only played one game, yes, and he could hardly move by the end of the third quarter. Whether through his own fault or not (injuries) the kid needs to build a tank quick smart if he wants to make it in the AFL. No point playing kids who can't run out games especially if they're skinny rakes who get thrown around like rag dolls. -
Melbourne Supporters Are Too Accepting of Player Non-Performance
Dr. Gonzo replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah I meant Gawn - he impressed in the games he got in 2011 but due to his history of knee injuries I'll count it as a bonus if he makes it rather than expecting it to happen. -
Melbourne Supporters Are Too Accepting of Player Non-Performance
Dr. Gonzo replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
So our list is OK we just need a bunch of players from other clubs who we will never get to make it better and need an injury prone giant and a freakish forward who may never play again to cement their roles and we'll be well on our way. -
Darling is about the same height as; Lloyd, Dunstall, Lyon, Lockett, Modra, Fevola, Pavlich and probably a few others I'm forgetting.
-
It's got nothing to do with hindsight many people suggested we should take Darling at the time and were astonished when we didn't select him. This topic has been done to death but for those wanting a quick breakdown; - Darling was a top player the year before his draft year and was touted as a number 1 (or at least top 3) pick - Darling's performances in his draft year were below what he had produced previously and some "issues" became apparent - These "issues" amounted to having a drink and a girl in his tent at school camp and getting king-hit outside a night club (neither of which are hanging offences and shouldn't have really raised an eyebrow amongst AFL clubs) - MFC were in the market for a strong forward, something Darling was and has proven to be - Few other clubs were in the market for this type of player which makes the "everyone else stuffed up too" argument laughable and embarrassing for those who continue to peddle it - MFC picked Watts with pick 1 two years prior, a player who was basically a clone of Cook but with bigger wraps - Cook was a tall skinny project player in the same vein as Watts who by reports suffered anxiety before games to such an extent that he developed migraines and vomited - these "issues" are far worse than anything Darling was accused of - While Darling was seen as very plausibly being taken by us at 12 Cook was seen as at the most a second rounder meaning we paid way over the odds for him - Darlinghas stepped in and had a presence in the Eagles forward line since day 1 while Cook was dropped to Casey seconds for the last match of the season and has shown absolutely nothing to indicate he will play even 10 games at AFL level let alone 150-200 Did I miss anything? Another calamitous error by the morons in charge of our recruiting. Sometimes I really do wonder why I bother when our club is so obviously run by inept idiots. We are the joke of the competition, worse than Richmond or St. Kilda and it is not just because of the results we dish up each weekend.
-
I do agree to an extent but Jordie is not on $450-$550K per year and is at least prepared to run hard and do the team things. if Moloney was on $250k per year I'd keep him but not for half a mil.
-
No doubt they've put more effort into planning and prepping for this than actually playing football for the last month or two.

3 Years for Jamar and McKenzie - seriously?
Dr. Gonzo replied to Watts Jurrah Dunn?'s topic in Melbourne Demons
The club has shown time after time that they have failed miserably and can't be trusted to make the right decisions so yes, I believe on certain topics posters here do know more than the club. -
3 Years for Jamar and McKenzie - seriously?
Dr. Gonzo replied to Watts Jurrah Dunn?'s topic in Melbourne Demons
Jamar has had one good season 2 years ago and a bunch of average ones throughout his career. Not sure what we're paying him but 3 years is excessive. Despite the quantity on our list we do have a dearth of quality rucls on our list. Martin, Fitzpatrick, Spencer don't excite and Gawn is injury-stricken so may never come on. We probably could have gone with Martin as a cheaper younger option and offered Jamar one year with two at the most. He is a one trick pony and that trick has been mitigated in the last two seasons where his tap work has been rubbish. He wins the hitouts and they go nowhere or are sharked by the opposition. He can't go forward, doesn't drop back, is only a decent not great marking target across half back and can't kick instead handballing at every opportunity. Not a big fan. McKenzie I'm not too fussed with. Is a very good tagger but again is one dimensional. Can't fault his endeavour but his talent leaves a lot to be desired. Someone cmopared him to Jones above but that is rubbish, McKenzie will never have the talent Jones has, will never be a goalkicker or someone who can deliver the ball one our forwards chest. Not fussed with three years for him but he will never be more than a one dimensional tagger. -

Dr. Gonzo replied to Watts Jurrah Dunn?'s topic in Melbourne Demons
Thats not how the vets list works. If he's a vet $100K is outside the salary cap and I'm pretty sure he still takes up a spot on our senior list, -
Moloney's always been a one-dimensional player which is why he can beat up on crap teams but goes missing when the heat's on and other teams are able to put some time into him. He's been good for us for the most part without being really anything special. His bigger body would be good around the clearances but it's once he gets the ball that is the issue. He is too lazy to be able to run hard both ways and spread to create options which is necessary in the modern game and rarely hurts the opposition by going forward to kick goals. Would like to keep him on as a depth player (28-35 on the list) but realistically he won't want to play out his career at Casey and will want to move elsewhere to a club that can give him regular senior games and possibly finals (Sydney?) So I'm not too upset he's gone he's never really given any indication he is more than an honest toiler and never any indication he is willing to put in the hard yards to evolve his game.
-
The substantiation comes in witnessing the pathetic "efforts" of our players each weekend. They are too unfit and too lazy to do anything about it by preparing their bodies to be able to run out quarters, games and seasons of football of AFL standard football which these days means busting a gut to run all day long not just when you think you might get the footy.
