You're in the bargaining stage, I'm still in anger.

Haha what [censored]

AFL write up on Kennedy; What is he good at? His pace is his best asset. Can burn off opponents with his run. What does he need to work on? There are issues with his kicking. Considering his small stature, Kennedy needs to be using the ball well when he gets it but he can lack penetration and miss targets. But we already have a Matt Jones...
-
Mahoney went on radio the other day and said the Howe anf Kennedy deals would have to be done separately. If we then trade Howe for Kennedy and some backended picks then it tells me Mahoney doesn't know how to negotiate.
-
Completely fallacious logic.Edit: you said the Dawes trade was part of a larger trade "that landed us Hogan" as if to imply we wouldn't have had Hogan unless we traded for Dawes and therefore trying to somehow make the Dawes trade more palatable. The Hogan mini draft pick was secured before any Dawes deal happened so whatever we went on to do with that Pick 20 was irrelevant.
-
Clark played well for the Cats when he was on the park and if he gets right next year will be a massive player for them, far better than anything Lumumba will offer. I am not and was not against getting Lumumba but getting him for Clark was unders. Dawes we got with pick 20 after we traded for the Hogan mini draft selection, it was completely separate and not linked in any way. Whatever the players drafted with those picks have done is irrelevant, there's nothing to say we would've taken those same players. It's not just in trading either, it's about the club as a whole. People are cynical because the club has a track record of being pushed around. We don't speak up for ourselves and just accept the [censored] we cop, of course people think we're going to end up getting dudded on the Howe deal. If we end up getting Kennedy and a second/third rounder for Howe I'll expect your contrition in this thread. If we're able to get something substantially better I'll do likewise.
-
Well then my original point stands, why would GC trade us 3 and 16 for 6 and 8 for no benefit to them (1 point difference)?
-
Mitch Clark last year for starters. It may have turned out he was more rooted than we thought but getting Lumumba for Clark was rubbish. Dawes for 20 was questionable and a poor move in hindsight.
-
Why would GC do that? If we trade 6 & 8 for 3 maybe, but not with 16 thrown in just so they can do us a favour...
-
What a bunch of rubbish. People are rightly cynical because we've seen this all before. Until the club can prove it has a backbone (something I've only ever seen under Gutnick) people will continue to expect to see them rolled over.

Forward line is a disaster according to Plough - despite the best young KPF in the comp who just won Rising Star?
-
Yeah but Roos is only here for one more year.
-
Didn't bidding use to have to occur BEFORE trade period to prevent clubs trading out early picks in the knowledge they could use a later pick on a FS/Academy player??? Why did the AFL change this? Corrupt.
-
$$$ to Howe
-
The Age today indicated that the offer from GC was substantially more than the Pies.
-
This competition is so amateurish it is laughable.
-
I dont want Williams but this is the theory I'd be testing out. Picks aren't the be all end all and Pies have a lot of kids coming through. Maynard sounds like the best target but something like that is what I'd be trying to work out.

Don't understand the consternation - he's a better player than those we delisted and will likely walk into our 22. I'd have him in the team ahead of guys like Grimes or Watts as well. Whatever you say about him he is a competitor and I think he'll relish playing in a different environment with a FD that isn't run by an egomaniac. My only concern is the WADA penalties as I think the Essendon players will get smacked. Not sure what, if any, assurances the AFL has given to clubs that trade in EFC tainted goods. I would assume none and we wear the risk but I guess offering him a 4 year contract (if that's what eventuated) means we have faith that he'll be a long term player even if he copped the maximum 2 years.

Some of you guys need a job/hobby
-
Hogan, Brayshaw, Petracca, Tyson, Gawn These are guys you can build a club around. Start to show something and then land the "big fish" no point getting someone in who will past their use by by the time we are seriously challenging. Will be a waste of ours and their time as much as we would like to see them in the red and blue. EDIT: Add Salem, Viney, Kent etc as well
-
Don't you mean Artie Bucco/Jose Mourinho /Machsy /Mach5?
-
They dropped him for Griffiths I think? So it was more of a "match up" thing as they wanted to go tall forward with Riewoldt, Vickery and Griffiths to stretch north's defence. Didn't work and I think if they had their time again they would go with Lennon over Griffiths. A lot of Richmond supporters weren't happy when the change was made and even more annoyed in hindsight.
-
Get the club to send him a Hogan or Brayshaw one.

His manager was also trying to talk him up the other day talking about how quick he was and he had elite ability for repeat sprints - problem is he only runs one way so we don't see him use that skill to pressure his opponent in a game.
