Agreed. Super talented year.   I think Tigers also see the top 30 talent in this draft and want 5-6 choices.

They also need to desperately rebuild quickly before Tassie.

We just need one or two good years to re-set our list profile.

  2. The thing about Smillie is his kicking to advantage. It's very noticeable. Contrast that with our mids and half forwards, he'd fit in nicely.

I'd like 2 or 3 picks in the top 15 this year, there's so much scope in this crop.

    I'll trust JT though.

    I got the email

Too much noise around our club for too long.

The instinct for self-preservation is as strong in organisations as it is in individuals. No one likes being reviewed but regular reviews are good governance.

I voted in favour of an independent review. If conducted properly it can only be a good thing. Terms of reference key. Get the best in the business and empower them to leave no stone unturned.

So did I and completely agree mate.

So what part of the post was not okay?

The software does not have the ability to give you feedback on what words or phrases are banned.

You simply have to use your discretion. This has been pretty clear all year on Demonland and poor old Andy is repeatedly having to respond to these types of questions.

I'm very middle of the road for all things on this matter. There has been good done, but also faults on both sides. I very much respect Peter's contribution to the club and dedication.

However, the timing and content of this email just further emphasizes he does not know how to 'read the room'. To send this right now, at a time most Melbourne supporters would be sick of being punched down on, and to include a 'call to action' which I'm sure he will use for his own purposes and potentially not just for the stated outcome; paints him in a poor light in regards to being a level headed leader.

Peter, if you happen to read Demonland, I very much agree with the idea of an external review and I have my own issues with the current board, but please, going forward, take some time to have a breath and consider things before taking such actions in the future. Timing and tact are important. We have work to do now, not more battles to create.

    I disagree.

Many people on Demonland seem to want change.

It's pretty clear on and off the field we need change.

I don't trust the club to do an unbiased internal review. We need a top down external review.

The report is that he’s unhappy with the club (but not Goodwin) and if he were out of contract would request a trade tomorrow.

If true, this is a “sack whoever it takes to appease him” situation. This club will fold if Trac leaves. It’s not just who he is on the field, it’s who he is off it. He’s connection to our supporter base, he’s marketable, he gives us relevance where we might not otherwise have it. He has, until King’s Birthday, been so incredibly passionate about this club. If changes can be made to make him feel more comfortable, then we make those changes. Stuff concerns about putting one player above the rest. Exceptions get made for people like Trac.

Not sure I agree with this...

You don't make exceptions for one person.

One of his alleged gripes is apparently that we make exceptions for some when we shouldn't.

The idea that the club will fold if Trac leaves is just hyperbole. I presume this was written in an emotional moment.

Agree with all you’ve said. Want to highlight the Murphy Reid comment, that is exactly our problem. We need to diversify and get away from the “Melbourne Type of player”. The game has changed and evolved since 2021…………we haven’t as a club.

I reckon Langford is already that player though. He gives us ball use, whilst still being able to win his own ball and take a contested mark.

  8. Unless we can get two top 10 picks, we won't be able to land players like Langford and Lalor, but if we can land a top 15-20 pick, I reckon Cooper Hynes has a lot of the attributes that Lalor has, but is likely to go later.

Then there's Murphy Reid who might provide us something a little different, but I don't see him as a Melbourne type player.

However, if we could nab one (or two - fingers crossed) of Langford, Lalor or Hynes, I think we'd be rapt.

If we can somehow manufacture three picks in the top 20, it completely changes our list profile.

And I hope we'd want to complement this with some experienced faces too, whether it's a Jack Macrae, Cumming or someone else of that 26-30 age range that gives us more options through the midfield and half back.

Tim Lamb surely should have been sacked.

He had better have a good trade period

He has brought in rejects Billings, Schache, Hunter, Fullarton and paid overs for McAdam

    1. Don’t touch pick 5

    2. get 25 and 42 off crows for ANB

    3. no soft players any more !!!

There's really no need for that framing.

  10. Why did we go with Adrian Anderson exactly? Quite happy to throw all the dollars at the courts to needlessly fight Peter Lawrence, but not happy to hire a proper lawyer to defend Kozzy?

Get rid of our admin. They're hopeless.

Not sure where the Brisbane thing came from. I reckon some journalist was like Noosa? Noosa is in QLD. Brisbane are in QLD. I do math good.

Plus, he allegedly had coffee with Neale, therefore, trade to Brisbane done and dusted.

Hahahaha he’s going to go play in front of negative 5 fans on the Gold Coast? 😂

Brisbane wouldn’t have space in the cap for him, he’s on over a million a year. That’s not pocket change.

This is what doesn't compute. You can't throw Brisbane in there as a destination and talk about your brand.

They have significantly less fans than us.

Financially. Image wise it doesn’t matter, our image is in the bin anyway. If only we didn’t waste money on pointless litigation hey? 🙄

No idea about the home base, but I imagine the ongoing deals are between the club and local government and have no impact if the people at the club change. But I could well be wrong on that.

Surely we have enough money to launch an external review?
