I'm starting to come around to the idea that an external review is required. Way too much noise around our club the last 12 months or so. Clear the air once and for all.

I'm a big fan of stability but if the review determines the CEO is part of the problem, then make the change. I'm still very much undecided about Kate but the Caulfield option is the last chance saloon for her. If that falls over then she should fall on her sword. 10 years on the board is time enough to have firm plans in place around a new home base.

External review, boardroom clean out, new pres, new CEO, and new head of footy. Doubt it happens though...

It seems to me people at the club are also feeding the media. eg

    • That it was uncomfortable having Petracca at the club function last Sat night.
    • Players are angry at Petracca and want him out ...
    • Petracca asked to be traded at the exit interview.  I assume the only the attendees were Petracca, Goodwin and maybe Richardson.

That to me doesn't look like a club that wants to mend a relationship.

Both parties are trying to discredit each other.  Both parties are damaging the club.  Its getting ugly and will become a very messy divorce.

The sooner they both stop feeding the media the better.

imv its time to bring in a neutral mediator and get the differences on the table and talk them out.  I don't have confidence that anyone at the club knows how to do such mediating.

Why would Melbourne leak that Trac asked to be traded mate?

    That was 100% Trac.

Wonder if Adam Cerra will come back into trade calculations.

Cerra can't get on the park. Would be a dumb move from us. Unless it's McKay and Cerra, but good luck with that one.

Pert's record speaks for itself...Culture at Dee's & Pie's when he is in charge hasn't exactly been fantastic!

Roffey got handed the best Chairpersons gig in footy we were flying and since she took over its slowly fallen apart.

Roffey has got great experience in Government department's and Universities which is probably why we are in this mess. The skill set has lead the way on all sorts of flag waving and feel good inclusiveness but no results where it maters whilst the joint falls apart.

The board and particularly Roffey are far to close to Goodwin he should never have received he extension last year pre finals and should surely go now the footy department needs a complete reset

He'd just finished top 4 for a third year in a row. This is BS.

As is the stuff about government departments and universities. She's private sector all the way. As is the corporate flag waving and inclusiveness.

But... I think we need a new board, new pres and new CEO, with the incomers guaranteeing Goody stability on field, with a refreshed footy department (with Todd Viney at the head).

I believe Gary Pert came under a lot of pressure and scrutiny at the MFC board meeting tonight and didn’t present well.   Could he be the Boards sacrificial lamb in order to repair Trac bridge?   Personally I hope Pert, Rofey and Trac all pack their bags…

Pert and Roffey need to go. After Trac's last two weeks, I'm fine for him to nick off too.

Richmond pick 1 plus another later first round pick.

    Kangaroos pick 2 + Duursma

    West Coast pick 3 + Future 1st

St kilda pick 4 + Max King

I don't know, just trying to make myself feel better. It's not working and I still don't like most of these deals.

    The most obvious one is:

    West Coast - Harley Reid.

Maybe the problem with our culture is that we have too many nice guys in position of power.
Goody, Gawny, Richo, all really nice people who genuinely love every player.

In a high performing environment that can sometimes be a real problem.

Which is why I'd love Todd Viney back to play the bad cop. Not that he isn't a good guy btw...

That time will be when we have a board that is not performing, is hanging on because of egos, and everyone except them can see change is needed.  A bit like what happened at Collingwood in 2021-22.  These new rules make change possible.

    That time is now.

Time for board changes and more IMO. Surely, the disingenuous way the president painted this in her email is enough to tell us time should be up for this group.

Huge failure on the home base and their weird and controlling decision making around election rules and board matters.

I want our premiership winning coach to have the backing of the board, which is why I initially liked Kate and wanted board stability. But the way they've told members to vote the last three years is a disgrace.

Your right, no one knows what the future holds. Though, I think our GM of Football and Head coach publicly stating he isn't leaving, and thus essentially putting their jobs on the line if he does leave gives me plenty of reassurance.

I don't expect Richo to be there next year, and Goody wouldn't be the first coach to say someone will be an x player next year, and for it to go the other way.

Although it is an interesting stat, I disagree that it shows that he is basically an outside receiver considering Matt Rowell held the record and he's a contested bull. Teams are only averaging 9.6 contested marks a game this season - they're few and far between.

Contested marks for leading possession winners, 2024

    Nick Daicos: 0 / 694
    Tom Green: 2 / 673
    Adam Treloar: 3 / 662
    Caleb Serong: 2 / 655
    Zak Butters: 0 / 638
    Noah Anderson: 0 / 634
    Patrick Cripps: 7 / 633
    Andrew Brayshaw: 1 / 627
    Luke Davies-Uniacke: 1 / 624
    Zach Merrett: 2 / 614

Nick Daicos is ranked fifth for average first possessions at stoppages and first for gathers from hitout. He may not win as many hard ball gets as some, but he definitely wins plenty of his own ball.

I reckon he's a gun at stoppages, but gets a heap of handball receives when he plays half back, and when he runs forward from stoppage. He gets a lot of basically uncontested marks as well because he runs into the space. He's a brilliant player, but you can more than halve his disposal count by playing a runner on him to cut down on those uncontested possessions that help Collingwood maintain possession. Stopping him winning stoppage is tougher though and they block very well for him.

Has that been reported? I've only read that we were the sole Melbourne based team willing to offer two firsts.

Thank god Houston appears to have saved us from ourselves.

No, I'm speculating, but I can guarantee you he didn't cool because of Trac.

I'm not sure what bowey offers now. I think him winning a flag in his 7th game made him to comfortable.

Bowser was a major component for every good piece of ball movement from half back in the first half for us. When he hurt himself we were stuffed.

If we are really honest - zero.

Windsor is a beauty but he’s a winger without an overhead marking game, not a natural inside contested ball winner and his kicking/decision making is iffy. He’s going to be good, but A grade good?

Judd’s a beauty too but he’s stagnated as a half back as he learns positioning, he doesn’t bust his backside to rack disposals up and his value is winning the ball back in space. He slips and slides around contact, rather than playing through it like mids do.

Our most talented young player (sub 22) is probably Jeffo. Whether we can build him in to an AFL player yet alone fully maximise his talent is obviously unknown. We’ll know more in March.

You are a harsh and ridiculous judge at times. Completely disagree with this. He's super clean below his knees, a nice kick and makes good decisions IMO.
