WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON
Adam The God replied to angrydee's topic in Melbourne Demons
I must sound like a broken record, but for the hundredth time, you don't need to have played football to have an opinion on the game. FCS, this attitude gives me the shits. -
Josh Kennedy would be something special. Otherwise, I agree.
-
Even better than Frawley.
-
Those that wouldn't trade Howe for one of the best mids in the game need to take those rose coloured glasses off and get a spine. These are the sorts of tough decisions we need to start making if we're to be successful. Either way, if we don't get him, I'm already stoked by this trade period.

Gary coached the Camberwell team, so that makes sense. Fascinating post, mate. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE

Yeah, good point, M. We need precise distribution from the back. -
Howe & pick 9 for Kennedy. And the club chatting to Fitzpatrick is probably Adelaide or Port.
-
Kennedy to the MFC was my fantasy pick about four or five months ago. Would be hilarious and brilliant if it happened.
-
Given Taggert couldn't get a game in the worst midfield of all time, I don't hold out much hope for him. Good luck to him though.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
Adam The God replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
If anyone else had said this of the club last season, you would have jumped down their throat. That exit interview went poorly, I gather? FWIW, I respectfully disagree. I think Cross further eases the pressure on Jones and adds a second senior body to the midfield mix, along with Vince. I think next season we'll be looking for more mids within the 22-24 age bracket to fill that need and I wouldn't be surprised if we go for one more aging mid. Afterall, Cross' contract is for one year. It's very, very sensible by the club IMO. A no-brainer, as the Americans would say. -
Howe didn't get me excited this season. In fact, he continued to frustrate me. I saw through his one-trick, two seasons ago. But that's beside the point. He has currency and the hypothetical was raised - would you trade Howe for Shiel? My answer would be a resounding 'yes'.
-
Should have signed last year then.
-
I think Shiel's worth would be worth more than pick 5, given he's got those two seasons under the belt. But add Howe and pick 9 and you're right.
-
Win-win then, isn't it Yeata?
-
A guy like Freeman (on admittedly limited vision that I've seen) could add this, as well as being able to win inside ball. Watts is the other guy that could be strongly suited to handball receives. Roos has hinted at this via his desire to play him on the wing.
-
This is the one thing that I agree with. He does read it very well. If Roos can limit those errors by foot, he serviceable and becomes damaging if he can chop of opposition play and rebound effectively.
-
I put Grimes on the back flank in my 2014 team, but I think if he's going to make it, it'll be as a mid. His disposal is too ordinary to be playing off half back. In the midfield, if he can win clearances, disposal by foot will be less important.
-
Exactly.
-
Haha. Well played.
-
See, I'd go with Freeman. His hips remind me of Moloney though, but he's quicker, a better kick and can win the ball on the outside seemingly.
-
I presume you mean in the general footballing public, not MFC supporters. He looks like a good ball user and a nice set shot, but I want us drafting natural mids. I guess I'll trust Roos and his team though.
-
The Melbourne Cricket Ground shouldn't give preference to cricket?
-
He's not a dominant or better than half way decent option though. He butchers the ball at HB. Just as Terlich does. People have finally realised this of Terlich. How many more turn overs is it going to take for people to realise it of Grimes?
