  1. Rubbish. He provided fantastic run off half back. Roos and the FD clearly gave him a licence to run today and it paid off. We looked so much better for it early on. It was the last line of defence that looked shaky today. We really made some poor decisions back there. It didn't help that Bail was pinged for deliberate, taking the ball over the goal line, whilst being tackled. It made our defenders second guess themselves for the rest of the afternoon.
  2. Clearly our best today. He didn't look like being beaten one-on-one either. He also offered great drive off half back and his kicking was excellent, especially his long kicking. The way he was revving the boys up at the start, tells me he's staying.
  3. And Tyson had another stinker. He is so slow to get ball to boot and often clumsy in his attack on the man.
  4. Thought Frawley was easily our best. Vince was the other, aside from 'that' kick, who tried to lift us up off the canvas. Our midfielders are so slow to release the ball from the stoppages. One of our last goals was created by Barry, who grabbed the ball and slammed it on his boot. It put their defence under the pump immediately. We never looked like winning today.
  5. What a pathetic effort. Delivered about a quarter of reasonable footy.
  6. Oh and our midfield has been below third world today. Jamar just taps to his feet every time. It seems like he's happy getting his hands on it and that's enough. Gawn is far more creative with his tap work, but can't get his hands on it enough in the ruck. Gawn did a couple of important things in the second though.
  7. Absolutely pitiful first half. That first half was worse than the Eagles game. The ball use, the lack of run and intensity was abysmal. The second quarter wasn't much better. Dawes need to stick some tackles and take a bloody contested mark. Morris is about a foot shorter than him.
  8. Does that mean you'll give Toumpas time? I think not. I'm never sure how to take your posts, HH. There's some good stuff in there, but you seem to change some of your views like the wind - something you've admitted as much yourself. I know this is a forum for expressing opinions, but sometimes it's better that some ideas are bucked and patience is pursued. IMO, we need to put a little more faith in Jimmy Toumpas. What's done is done. What's drafted is drafted. Let's wait and see if he and the FD can make a fist of it. It's too soon to write someone off. Surely, Pederson is evidence of this?
  9. Glad to see Brisbane beat the Kangaroos. The most inconsistent side in the comp. Still.
  10. So it sounds like we should trade any first round picks we have for ready to go players...
  11. I enjoyed the article, but jeez he's a horrible writer.
  12. If that's their nucleus, I don't think they'll be getting near another flag for a while. A very beatable bunch.
  13. Yeah, but he's playing in a finals bound side and is a WA-born lad.
  14. Ranked 4th in what though? We're 18th in the competition for clearances. Mind you, Geelong are 17th and GWS are 1st, so it doesn't mean the world. I think I'd prefer two top mids this year, than one mid and a KPP. As you note, Mike, with a better midfield, the defence will be under less pressure. I'm not sure why a number of Demonlanders think we need another KPD. If Frawley is deemed expendable by so many, why do we need another KPD? Anyway, I think we have more pressing needs and I'd be going a KPF the year after, before I'd go KPD again.
  15. It's more his decision making that's been ordinary. I love him, but missing a pre season shouldn't decrease your ability to make the correct decision. I think if anything, he is taking time to adjust to the Roos game plan.
  16. Unless, of course, we on-trade that pick for a read-to-go mid.
  17. And just what Brisbane need with Jono Brown done and dusted. Can't see it happening, mate. My concern with Richmond and Carlton down near the bottom is that they'll be able to outbid us for the likes of Shiel and Treloar with their first rounders.
  18. I think our first pick will get the deal done for Shiel. If Chip leaves, I'd throw his comp pick at Coniglio or Treloar. I'm living in dream land, but if we got our hands on two of GWS's best three mids, we'd be laughing. Don't think GWS would let that happen, because they have to start playing hard ball with their kids. However, let's say that they two go, our midfield would consist of: Jones, Vince, Tyson, Viney, Shiel, Coniglio/Treloar, Cross, Trengove. There's something quite Sydney about that line up. Not a great deal of foot speed, but a string of solid ball winners - unless we got Treloar. I'd then aim for some good, speedy half back ball users. Add one this off season and then add another the following off season. By the following off season, we'd be a better prospect for FA's too. That's where we'd lure another KPF and a crumbing forward that can go into the midfield. And then...well, then I wake up.
  19. On that thinking, I wonder whether Roos and the FD would actually prefer a first round pick instead of Chip re-signing. Afterall, this would go towards getting another mid or two, something Roos has already flagged. More bargaining power and higher likelihood of a Tysonesque trade again.
  20. I think if we can win 8 games or more, we'll be a very attractive proposition for season 2015. That'd help us lure that next tier of quality players. Last off season, Roos' mere standing in the game landed us Vince. An aging, but very good B grade mid. With everything behind us this year, we should be able to target A graders and they'll seriously consider a move to Melbourne.
  21. Hawthorn still win most weeks, because they have a crop of genuine class. And their depth has been severely tested. It's been shown to be pretty thin, IMO. As for taggers, I think we'll use Jones to tag/go head-to-head with Libba this weekend. Losing your two best taggers in one week is pretty unlucky. I reckon most teams would struggle to cover that injury hit. For me, we lack enough genuine class to get the job done consistently against good opposition.
  22. Spot on, DD. I yell this out to him every week. Know your limitations. Grimes and Terlich are the other two than need to realise they shouldn't try to bite off more than they can chew.
  23. I think mids are first cab off the rank, Saty. Roos has flagged this in the press too. I'd be going with running half backs as my second preference. We have pretty good depth in KPP stocks.
