  1. I think they'll remain unchanged, but it's clever from the FD to encourage the three inclusions on the extended bench. It should drive them to put in even harder for a place next week. Recognition is an important thing, even if it isn't the end goal. McKenzie experienced a similar thing a few weeks ago. Roos and co are looking for consistency at VFL level. They're managing things beautifully.
  2. Exactly. It's what these 'massive profile players' cost (as well as them being amenable to switching clubs) that will decide whether we pull the trigger.
  3. The FA landscape dictates that players (under advise for management, no doubt) will wait out longer and longer to sign contract extensions. It doesn't mean they're leaving though. The point of FA was to ensure the player's had more...agency. This has afforded it to them, two fold. They can either switch clubs for more money or they can use interest from opposition clubs as leverage to garner a larger contract at their current club. Nail on the head, M. I'm sorry, but your mate sounds like a dill. I hate people speaking in definites. So unless a player comes out and says they're staying, they're out the door? So Tommy Mac's out the door is he? I haven't heard him saying he's staying. Think logically about this, Demonlanders.
  4. I think he'll stay about 5 years and then move back into an Academy type role. Would love him for the next ten years though!
  5. Would you please be kind enough to outline those indicators, Munga?
  6. Just as well that's our thinking. We are still 18th for clearances in the comp. Our midfield isn't third world this year, it's vastly improved, but there's a lot of hard workers in there, without a spread of class. Roos spoke about this on AFL360 too. We just lack that Pendlebury and Swan combo that the other midfielders can hang off. I think what he's actually signalling is that if the price was right, we would still go out for a big name, but he's probably more realistic in thinking that we'll have to go for 'relative unknowns, yet to reach their peak'. As PSD highlighted, it's never been his style to go for big names, but if a Pendlebury was available, there's no doubt Roos would pounce.
  7. Well, that's completely untrue. In Frawley's AA year, I don't recall him having more than 2 or 3 goals kicked on him. Dunn's had a terrific season, but it's ludicrous to assert that he's had a better season than Frawley's 2010. He had Crameri kick 4 goals (the most on the ground) against him. Frawley beat his opponent or halved it every week.
  8. C graders. Frawley has line-breaking ability and is probably our best one-on-one defender. No need for Terlich.
  9. Love it. Spot on, mate. People are trying to detach themselves from him, but it's all defence mechanism. Frawley would get a game in any team in the comp.
  10. They've mismanaged him badly, IMO. He was never the most talented, but he could have been a solid forward had he been left there. He just needed to improve his kicking. They've moved him forward, back, forward, back. His confidence has been badly damaged and as we know this is a precious commodity at AFL level. He looks lost now. Frankly, I think it's delicious. Not only is he an Essendon player (therefore = hate), he beat up a cabby. What a [censored].
  11. A much better player now. I had him as trade bait last year. He's now a vital defensive cog. Those calling for a return to the forward half have no idea.
  12. He's an arse, yes, but he does have the MFC connection. Interesting analysis of Dunstall. I can see that. And he was almost a Melbourne Hawk as well.
  13. I like the article, but should have been published in the lead up to the Queen's Birthday game.
  14. It was a thoroughly dominant display by Dunn, wasn't it? I can't remember the last time a defender was so dominant in both their defensive duties and providing offensive rebound.
  15. The MCC gets a bit of a rough go. I lampoon it occasionally myself, mostly because I'm extremely boisterous, but to be fair it can get very loud. I've always felt that for a smaller supporter base, at least in attendance, we always sound 20,000 stronger than the amount that actually turn up.
  16. I agree with the notion that goals during 2012 and 2013 were being leaked, because of a lack of pressure from the entire team. It wasn't just the defence's fault we were conceding big scores. However, Rawlings' defenders (if you like), have it easier now, given the rest of the team is pulling their weight. Rawlings had a year on his contract to run. It'll be interesting to see if they renew his contract at the end of the year. Not saying Rawlings is necessarily poor, I just think the turn around in the team's defensive capabilities must be place at the feet of Roos. He is seriously the most inarticulate journalist in the sport. A couple of the writers for AFL.com.au are pretty ordinary as well, but he cannot string a sentence together. He seems like a nice bloke and I generally like watching AFL360 on a Monday night, but I am still staggered that he is the Herald Sun's Chief Football Writer. It says a lot about that paper.
  17. Personally, I think he is just a very good commentator. He's relatively unbiased too. I also think sitting OTC with two Demons (Healy is close enough to a Demon) plays a part too.
  18. What? So we're not allowed to cheer at the football? Why go along? Flogs.
  19. nutbean, on 16 Jun 2014 - 10:34 AM, said: I don't mind his game when he doesn't have too much time to think. His handpass in the last chain that resulted in the Salem goal was beautiful. (in fact have a look a everyone's involvement in that chain - Pedo, Jones, Frawley, McKenzie, Tommy Mac, Viney and Cross to Salem - Roos was right - our best piece of offensive play for the year and what a time to produce it) Spot on. Every handpass was executed and timed to perfection. It was vaguely Geelong-like actually. The Cross kick was excellent too, while Salem was as cool as you like. He's gonna be something this kid. So poised. 71 Molloy, on 16 Jun 2014 - 11:14 AM, said: Get's marked up for the elbow in Carlisle's back post goal. Mad Kent! It was Hooker actually.
  20. Sorry to be Mister Negative, but I don't buy this. Rawlings might be doing alright, but if we're giving him credit for this year, we have to give him credit for 2012 and 2013 too. Credit goes to Roos, as far as I'm concerned.
  21. Dunstall seemed to agree with me even after the slow mo. The Essendon one was dar more obvious and under little pressure.
  22. Rubbish. He'll sign one way or the other at the end of the season.
  23. I'm staying up to watch the 3.30am replay on Fox Footy. Can't wait.
  24. The deliberate OOB was pretty much right in front of us. Dreadful decision. The Essendon player was right on his hammer.
  25. Thought McDonald's candy selling and line breaking was brilliant in that play too.
