He's every bit as good as Max King is forward. Petty is now our best defender IMO. Lever is our best interceptor, but Petty can intercept almost as well and has become as good as May is 1v1. The other thing about Harry is he's really calm with ball in hand. There was a great moment down in front of us a few weeks ago at Geelong where he basically feigned 3 or 4 times before calmly kicking out of defence. May and Lever have both been guilty of banging it on the boot indiscriminately this season, but not Petty. A very neat kick and outside of Max, our best contested mark IMV. Sign him up til 2032! A Jason Taylor special. I wonder if JT can find us another 1 or 2 forward equivalents in the second round?

I wouldn't be surprised if Chandler comes in for JJ.

Exactly. Freo's game is built on precise ball movement from the back half. Wet weather makes that incredibly difficult. I reckon we'd welcome the rain, despite it being a slog.

He's also regularly lead/manoeuvred under the ball. Has happened in every game he's played in this year.

Brown gets outmarked and outbodied far less than Weideman. Brown has been outmarked and outbodied too often this year IMV, but aside from TMac and JVR, we basically don't have any other options as Max and Jackson have been relatively poor aerially as well.

I've never rated Smith, mostly because I worry about his game sense and spatial awareness, but the game is constantly changing and he has played one good game as a forward, so maybe he's the answer? His time learning defensive craft will hopefully help his shift forward again.

I don't want to lose Gus either, but he's a winger and a half back. There's a reason he can't get a game as an inside mid. If he overrates himself then I'd prefer we push him out.

Max King. To me, St Kilda have really stuffed up their list and unless they show significant improvement next year, you'd have to think King would be wondering if he'll ever play in a successful team. I know he grew up a St Kilda supporter, but you have to wonder...

Good post, but it's only tricky from a cultural standpoint. If Gus leaving isn't going to drastically alter the fabric of the playing group and its culture, then he's expendable if we get something decent in return. In fact, to me that's a no brainer. Sorry, them the breaks in modern footy. It's his prerogative to get the best deal for himself, just as it is the club's to maximise any opportunity in front of it to improve the list.

I reckon we're going to love the last month of footy. It's a real chance to play some really strong and desperate teams with finals and top 4 on the line. It's going to be a perfect lead in to the finals and if we want to be a great team like the players talk about, it's time to lift the intensity and run out 4 quarters. I expect us to win at least 3 of our last 4 and hit finals with a bang. I love that most of the press are writing us off.

When you're 18 years old, you want the kicking action to be foundationally solid. So yeah, I would. But I've seen one video, so that's not enough to judge on.

Just watching that video he definitely reminds me of Jeremy Cameron, but not as skilled. Still, he does look an interesting prospect.

I'd actually go Gus back to the wing, bring Bowey in, JJ goes out, Lever comes in for Tomlinson, Chandler or Bedford comes in for Melksham. Or, JVR comes in for Melksham and Chandler/Bedford to the sub.
