  1. This was Salem in 2021. Maybe not as offensive, but played a similar role.
  2. Billings is a good user forward of centre, but I wonder if he's a damaging enough user to offset his inability to defend the other way? That would be the question mark I'd have on him. You can't just be a good ball user in the modern game and not be able to defend both ways. You need to be an elite user and be able to wokr both ways or your exploitable. If the club reckons they can get him running both ways, then he'd fill a cheap need as a forward half connector.
  3. Ah, I see it's Fullarton. Just copied it from Dazzle's post. Sorry mate haha.
  4. You compared them to us with Fullerton, hence the grass is greener. I wouldn't say we're cleaning up with Fullerton and McAdams and I wouldn't say Sydney are cleaning up either. Quantity doesn't better quality. But I agree with your sentiment RE filling needs in our list via the draft with elite talent, rather than via fringe players we're deficit in from other clubs.
  5. So Sydney are doing better than us because two of their three imports couldn't get a game for us? Grass is always greener.
  6. Who have they got so far that's anything more than a standard meat and potatoes footballer? Adams and JJ couldn't get games with their respective sides at vital points of the year.
  7. Nah. Sorry. We went out in straight sets two years in a row. Therefore our midfield's [censored], our defence is horrendous and we fluked a flag. It's just pure luck that we constantly win CP and are one of the strongest stoppage teams even with the best contested player in the league missing 10 games. Baby out, bathwater etc. Demonland at its finest. What world are some posters living in? We actually got better without Clarry, so I concur with the last part. We need more balance in our midfield or at the very least more goals from our midfield. But Clarry, Trac, Viney and Gawn as a starting midfield is easily the best in the league. FMD.
  8. Too many facts, Moe. 👏
  9. But Walsh has done it from day dot. Agree that Butters is now the most damaging player out of all of them.
  10. This is really not backed up at all by statistics.
  11. I'd also take Walsh every day before Rozee. A good ball user who can run all day and hits the scoreboard. Rozee's ball use is good and he hits the scoreboard, but Walsh is an aerobic freak.
  12. Hodge was in Judd's year, so Hodge wasn't the best player either. Good leader yada yada, but I'm taking Judd every day of the week over Hodge.
  13. Which means you think WC will take Reid at 1. If so, you could well be right.
  14. So it was about their abilities? Grundy is a two time AA. He definitely has elite ability in his position. Chol has shown glimpses but not consistently. Anyway, each to their own.
  15. I think he faded quite noticeably in this role in the late part of the year, but if he and we know that's the plan next year, then that's what he trains for this pre season.
  16. We may just look at someone like Smith or JVR playing second ruck.
  17. Not really. Chol is a forward/ruck. Grundy is a ruck/forward. We arguably have a list need for a forward/ruck. Or we target a ruck to back up Max and play in the 2s for most of the year, except to give Max a chop out.
  18. That's not a very riddle. But appreciate the info mate.
  19. Yep, still a few riddles in the works.
  20. When Yze walked in the door at the end of 2020, Clarry had just toured the Blues. Yze got the mids on side and sold them on what was needed. Maybe McQualter will have the same impact this year?
  21. As you show, he was called that in school. He was the year above me.
  22. You're missing the point. The comparison wasn't about Reid and Rowell being the same sort of player. It was about them both being highly valued and thought of Under 18 players. Drafting. Is. A. Lottery. You cannot say definitively that Reid will be an elite player. Therefore, the comparison between Reid and Oliver is stupid.
  23. Who knows. The game changes so quickly. It's just as likely to revert back to super defensive soon enough.
  24. Selwood, Danger were elite with elite years from Guthrie and Duncan. We could absolutely get that out of Viney, Petracca, Rivers and Sparrow.
  25. Yeah, you're talking AFL level traits, and clearly that's true. But Oliver has shown over 8 years, elite AFL. Not just AFL level traits. He has been there, done that. He has won 1 (2?) AFLCA awards, an award far more prestigious than the Brownlow. He won a BnF in a flag year. He's been a multiple AA. Reid has not played a single AFL game yet. Someone earlier in the thread rightly said he could well turn out to be another Rowell, or, which is rhe lottery in draft picks, he could turn out to be the next Dusty, with a more rounded game than Clarry. But you can't say that now and expect people to agree with you. You need to actually see it. How many top draft picks have been heralded as the next best thing. At the end of the day, drafting is a lottery.
