  1. You obviously weren't at Geelong or you trade in hyperbole.
  2. Completely agree. IMV it reflects very poorly on our supporters how some talk. Some post as though premierships should be automatic and can be accidental or flukes. God given things. It's ridiculous, naive and/or arrogant in a multi billion dollar industry to think this way. Yesterday's finish was heinous and the last straw for me with Goody, but I saw people compare it to 186, we lost by a kick after the siren FFS. I was at 186 and I was there yesterday. Completely different situations. We should be better than two straight bottom 4 finishes, but we are also not 186 level or even 148 level insipid. 148 was another I had the horror of seeing. There is no doubt our fall from the top has been drastic. However, this does not undo the incredible 3 years we had at the top as pace setters, and no amount of potting in that thread will erase what Goody gave me and many other Melbourne supporters. Something of dreams and something I thought I'd never witness. We may not have been there to see it in person, but we won a [censored] flag. Goody deserves respect for his tenure as one of our most successful coaches and certainly our most successful coach of the last 50 years. It's a huge achievement, and potting him repeatedly page after page doesn't reflect well on anyone. I hope we can manufacture a dignified exit at the end of 2025, he deserves it. But with this administration, I don't trust them to make the right decision on any front. I hope I'm wrong.
  3. Fortunately, my little bloke had no idea what was happening. But the first thing he said to my wife when we got home, who I finally converted to Melbourne this year, was "Melbourne lost". 🤦
  4. Max's tap work in the last was atrocious. I kept saying the same thing. Keep it in close. Stop going for broke in centre clearances.
  5. It's going to be difficult with Goody's pay out and Seleyn's wage in the FD soft cap.
  6. I'll be going because I go every week. I'll be taking Lord Edward and that's that. But I'll go because I'm a Melbourne supporter, not because I think we'll win.
  7. It seems we've all got there today, hey? I'm in furious agreement. I thought he had it in him to reinvent the team like he did post 2018, but it's clear we're done without a change of coach.
  8. We are now back to being an embarrassment. After all that hard work that so many people put in. The appointment of Gary Pert was an utter disaster, and when you've got a pathetic CEO and rudderless board, you're in big trouble. People have to vote for an alternative ticket.
  9. Zero experience for Guerra and off field, the club has been asleep at the wheel ever since Green was brought onto the board. EGM incoming.
  10. Problem for us is Selwyn is an injury management guy. And our injury list has been brilliant. What we need is a new fitness coach.
  11. The senior players were woeful in that last quarter. Gawn had a mare with his tap work. But, I've defended him for a long time, thank you for your brilliant service, Goody, time's up.
  12. It didn't suit your narrative, did it?
  13. Nah. It was specifically mentioned in both podcasts before and after those two performances.
  14. It was discussed at the time actually...
  15. Do we need a rebuild? No. We need to keep building. Here is a potential 22 in 12 months time. AMW Petty/Adams Howes McVee Turner Bowey Langdon Kozzy Windsor xxxx xxxx Sparrow/Spargo JVR xxxx xxxx Max Langford Chandler Lindsay Salem Rivers Kolt Then we have question marks over senior players who I've left out from: Trac, Clarry, Fritta, Lever, May, Viney. Max and Melky will play on and be integral to us for at least another season. Can Adams and Jefferson solidify a spot in the 22? What about Kentfield? If these talls come good and can play a role like the average Collingwood talls have for the last few seasons, we can start to add the cream (ball use and pace) in that 24-28 age bracket to fill out the rest of the ground. To me, we have to find 3-4 best 22 players in the next 12-24 months through the FA market and potentially trading out 1-2 of those senior guys above. So it's aggressive, but not blow the place up. My instinct at this point is that Goody is not the right guy to take us forward, but he'll have at least some of next year to prove that theory wrong.
  16. Famous last words. No deal for me.
  17. Yep, unfortunately.
  18. Wow, I've been wrong before about Calrton, but Cripps, Walsh, Jagga Smith and Cody Walker could be avery good midfield in 2-3 years time. Hopefully Cripps is just a little too old by then. But they might be able to reset and build quickly around these new mids and become less predictable minus Curnow (and McKay?).
  19. But you're making the assumption that this is our only move. Again, I'm not for or against Daniher, just trying to understand the decision making given we don't have all the facts.
  20. Potentially. I guess they're thinking that our results against the top 3-4 are very competitive and it's our pathetic and inconsistent results against the weaker sides in the competition that is the gap between being a top 4-6 side and being a bottom 4-6 side. On evidence, this is rational. But is it the younger players creating the inconsistency in performance or is it the inability of the older players to execute consistently that is driving inconsistent results? If it's the latter, trading in older guys like Daniher, who I'd also consider a bit flakey, will only exacerbate the problem. But if it's the former, then there is a world where increasing the experience in the forwardline increases our chance of performing more consistently. It's difficult to gauge at this point. I'd suggest it could even be a combination of both, in which case it's hard to know when things could click (if at all).
  21. Trac is brilliant around the arcs. His ball use from stoppage is heinous. His little kick to JVR, which didn't look touched to me, was a perfect example of his cleverness and ability to execute inside 50.
  22. Cranky, this is a thread to celebrate Clarry's 200th. There are plenty of threads to critique his performance and the club's. Show a little bit of respect.
  23. My favourite Demon of all time. Well done, Clarry. 200 games thoroughly deserved. 💙❤️
  24. According to this SEN article, the Brisbane Lions were the fastest Ball movement side last year. I've no idea what Jnrmac is on about. Champion Data analyst exclusivel...Champion Data analyst exclusively reveals new measurement...Daniel Hoyne reveals the newest revolution in Champion Data trackingBrisbane are also noted as being a fast ball movement team this yeae, and in the top 6 to only a few weeks ago in this article. They don't go long, they go short, but very quickly. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2025-speed-of-ball-statistic-explained-every-team-ranked-from-fastest-to-slowest-afl-ball-movement-stats-champion-data-numbers-latest-news/news-story/8e4894d20931117b3a3311bf98ba3a51 I love how we cant do a basic level of research before creating a thread.
  25. You're kidding right? Roffey went because of one interview? The less said about Pert's off field reign, the better.
