  1. he's a tall forward, by default he should be a good set shot. But much like Stringer his worst is bad enough that it can often be detrimental to the team. When he's on then so is the team. I think we call that a "downhill skier".
  2. Dogs have been heavily pressured and smashed all around the game for the entire second half and could yet still win this. Tigers should be 6-7 goals up but they haven't been able to score. Dogs are grinding this and probably in a position they want to be in. Also, Bruce is such a spud. I hate it when he turns it up against us.
  3. Jackson may be 199 but he can play smaller. Brown for example plays like someone that's 200cm. Jackson is agile enough that his height isn't a detriment in wet weather. Last Saturday being a prime example.
  4. Hi all. Hoping for some help from our Sydney cohort and I guess for any others who have watched the Dees play whilst in Sydney. I'll be based in the harbour city for work for about 4 weeks and will be watching Melbourne on TV from rounds 9 through 12. Is there any particular venue Dees fans get together to watch games? Additionally, any other recommendations for watching AFL in Sydney? Would rather get out to watch it than stay in my hotel room. I'll be in the North Ryde area but can easily and happily venture into the CBD (as I will be a few times a week for work anyway).
  5. Paywalled HUN article seems to suggest game will be in Melbourne.
  6. I'm guessing the game is going ahead in Hobart then.
  7. This year's Melbourne team's legit. Nothing against North, they've soldiered on despite being on the brink of collapse multiple times, and growing up in the 90s they were one of the best teams I've seen. I hate their supporters but have nothing against the club. They beat up on us for 10 years as a finals club should have against a lowly club like Melbourne was at the time. Anyone suggesting this is a "danger" game is blinded by decades of ineptness. This is comfortably the best team we've had in my time supporting the club (early 90s) so arguably we're the best we've been since our last flag. I would classify Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Gold Coast, Freo are genuine "danger" games. North is comfortably the worst team in the league by the Flemington straight. They might steal a win this year against a bottom 10 club but they won't even get close this weekend. This isn't "complacency". It's just fact. Let's get real here and start respecting our club.
  8. All lockdowns have been an overreaction to some degree but that's the world we live in right now. Would seem at odds with the lockdown philosophy for the game to stay in Tassie. Agree it is silly and the game *should* be there but from a political optics POV I can't see how they permit it.
  9. We need to try and lock away a marquee event game against the Cats so we don't have to travel there. Something between May-July so it's only one meeting. Maybe a "Foundation Club" event, Friday night, round 12-13, MCG. Additionally, until we stop selling our own home games we'll continue getting sent down the highway and over the bay. Also, Norf should be campaigning to host high drawing clubs to Tassie. Melbourne supporters are heavily concentrated in Melbourne. North gain nothing hosting Melbourne, they are not only relying on their own supporters going to Tassie but also Melbourne. No reason why the Pies or Blues couldn't go there for an away game. Similar to how we campaigned the league for us to host the WA, SA or Brisbane in NT knowing those teams tend to have strong support there, thus pulling a better crowd.
  10. Really hoping this game is moved to Marvel so I can actually watch us beat Norf for once.
  11. tl;dr Melbourne's turn to break the drought.
  12. recent history would actually suggest they are destined for a third flag. Brisbane and then Hawks both won three on the trot. No other team since Adelaide has gone 2 in a row to not win a third. Richmond should probably have 4 on the trot if not for some niggling injuries leading into the 2018 Prelim against the Pies. They looked GOAT level in the first 10 mins on Saturday. Their pressure when on is intense.
  13. I can't see it happening in Tasmania tbh. Seems illogical and against public health advice for a group of people coming from a hotspot to not only be still playing and competing (albeit with an exemption) but to also be travelling to another state. Game should be at Marvel.
  14. i don't know why people take it so seriously. collectively we are seen as fickle supporters that jump ship and go to the snow instead of watch out team play. next time you hear someone crack a joke, ride it and fire back. "At least I can afford a snow trip. But I always make sure I'm back in time for the game. I even have a space up front for my Range Rover. How is Moe this time of year?"
  15. they were pathetic. richmond supporters basically bullying melbourne supporters all game but worst at the end. was great when Kozzie kicked that goal. but seriously, AFL members is bordering on unsafe at Richmond games. the four guys in front of me were the biggest bunch of wingers. feel sorry for their misses' tonight.
  16. Trac has 20 disposals, 9 contested, 5 clearances and 6 scoring involvements.
  17. Gifted Edwards that goal. Aside from that I'd say it's been an even quarter.
  18. Sunday 3:20pm slot is actually a great prime time FTA period. I imagine it's actually more desirable these days than a Saturday night game
  19. Hawks supporters are not all that unlike Melbourne supporters (as much as some here may hate to admit it). Very similar demographics, up and about when they're doing well but very quiet otherwise. Tigers supporters have always been nauseating: if not for their hyperventilation when they were crap then for their "GOAT" rhetoric post-flags. Theyll never let anyone live down this four year stretch. And if they win it this year well then god help us all because they may well be the GOAT.
  20. they barely got going in the fourth as well if not for Dusty. He pretty much led every single charge forward. you could see it coming though. by the end of the third we were running on fumes. and if I remember correctly many of their goals in the last came on the run out of our forward line. just found it funny that this week some of their supporters are calling us the weakest 5-0 side ever. They were gifted a dream run to start the year in 2017, faced teams on a short break and played Carlton, Brisbane and Collingwood, who finished 16th, 18th and 13th respectively that year. Then JUST overran a Melbourne team with no rucks and 1 player on the bench. Moral being that regardless of who you beat, if you string a good run of wins together at any point of the season you're setting yourself up for success. which is exactly as they did. I hope their complacency this week turns into a wakeup call. All good things must come to an end. A changing of the guard must start this weekend.
