  1. And he's a senior leader now... who is playing like a baby boy. He is NOT showing the way forward, as a 28Yr old regular senior player should be. ... more in the mold of, watts his name again. lackluster efforts.
  2. Garlett has to be dropped, for not turning up for 2018.
  3. not looking with an open viewpoint. looking thru a glass onion. so many can't see, what they do not want to see. the forward who maybe a defender in waiting. or the defender who maybe a wingman?

Well lets hope he's lay'd claim to all of them then. We might need the whole family yet.
  5. Glass chins, never get stronger. Just like 2 chins, they never return to singularity.
  6. Yes, I realise that. he lived around Sandringham I think. the point remains IF he wants to go West, I'd be Open to that happening. if we were compensated rightly.
  7. That was the hawks pressure and our clubs collective panic, setting in. The Melbourne Yips, is what i'm talking about. (that here we go again thing) We have to work on 'cutting it', from all our minds. because what it does is magnify the pressure our players feel out there. They do indeed sense it. the fear/negativity. All Demons must learn to NOT Fear.
  8. I'd be open to that if Angus wanted to go home West. If he wanted to do that, I would be open to trade. Also there is no guarantee on his health, in future seasons.
  9. LoL. Devils advocate. I think he may well have been in the line of sight of selectors after his efforts. but not now. So, IMO, if I was selector, I would be looking to add a nippy player who can be defensive minded, to account for some nimble Hawks.
  10. Simple. When houses, medicine and food, & just plain living, become a slavery act to survive, then the current capitalistic system has gone beyond its use buy date. This is the end of capitalism as we know it, because its become a cannibal. The anti-christ has worked its spell into the big 'C' ; and now its all downhill for big 'C'... 'the people, they are a changin'.

The "already developed" term, was in reference to his footy development.. not his mind/emotional development. That's the point of the post, that 'the inner club culture' has to be strong, beneficial, & supportive, with strong discipline. The doggies seems to me, a raw culture changing almost daily. they were a young talented team without enough senior leaders who could hold things together. They rode the crest of an emotional wave through to the Premiership, and never really got off that wave until it crashed ashore. Now its spot the pieces, and pickup what you can find. Stringer Wines and Grundy were my picks, to go with Viney, who was a lock for us. I wanted big size mids in that draft. And those who had other skills, like forward skills. see (Grundy & Stringer) It turns out the best options from hindsight show us that Wines & Grundy would have been the better partners for Viney. And we had one of them in the palm. Oh Toddy.
  12. most footy supporters are from the lower half of this equation. If footy is about community, and the rotation of goodwill, & also money moving across that community, how is it good for most of it (money) to end-up in the pocket of too few ? This is not good for anything, Let alone footy and community.
  13. Do we have to continue the bentleigh club, til 2021 ? Or can we shut the pokies down and sell the place?
  14. DV8 replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes true but it also shows how impressionable young players heads are, & the so called "already developed" argument is. And how arrogance is destructive in a club environment. One minute world beaters, next minute pillow fluff.
  15. DV8 replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
So was Jake Stringer prior to drafting.
  16. I agree chook. Lets return the club back to the people and footy supporters of RednBlue... let the people back Inn.
  17. He does jr. But he needs to 'kick the door in' prior to. He hasn't played a game for points, just yet. I would wait until after the 1st game in the VFL, and see how he goes under some heat first.
  18. And probably hoping for some faith from supporters. But its a bit hard to do, with where we're coming from, to feel that way.

I have no doubt that he will show something, and then, show plenty. I'm in no out-standing hurry for that to happen. As I reckon that when he does come on, he will be just what Dr ordered. And then we will be a more complete outfit.

I would say that only Picket and JKH did not deserve the whipping they copped. Pickets was torn a new one by supporters on the no bruise bandwagon of that time. He was umpired out of the game. Nowadays its common place to crash bodies just not the sacrosanct head. Hello J Selwood, you lookin' at moi? JKH is just an honest toiler who has no preconceptions on his ticket, accept that he knows he has to be a bloody heard worker to make it. As did Nibbler, just over 12 months back.
  21. DV8 replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
Morton, Bennell, Cook, Gysberts, before them Pickett copped a lot from fans. And many who did deserve some, were loved & untouchable by fans.
  22. DV8 replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
No, too soon for him. He doesn't have any form, or confidence yet. He'd be a lamb to slaughter. Now is not the time, but if you want to fast track him, maybe start playing him at key defence in the VFL. Just for a while, to get him running at the ball & with the ball. And kicking on the run. And also a run on the ball. Get his physical momentum moving, & confidence.

Hang on his grandad was a follower, a rugged follower, and powerful mark. With attitude. ran straight lines. Lets see what we get first, before we make any rash predictions on a lad, who has played 2 seasons, and is yet to become an adult. I suggest that bambi will turn into a buffalo.
  24. DV8 replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
just entering his 3rd year. had another ankle Op. Lets start to expect, after the half way mark. Do we want to help, or hinder him? I reckon this kid ( 20Yrs_8Mths ) to this point, just needs a bit of faith shown. He's a big lad ( Height: 195cm_Weight: 97kg ) who needs some more muscle, and a little help from his mates.
  25. DV8 replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think the hounds need to be baying at all. As I said, we don't really have any hangers-on's, any longer, any non-committed to the cause. All we have left now, is young fellas, who want to be their best. We have so many young players in our best 22, we need another 28Yr old soon, to replace the 31 Yrs+ players nearing the end. We need the leadership and maturity because our 25's plus, are not all that great. the good older players are spread too thin. So we're in no real hurry for more youngsters in the 22, unless they crash the bloody wall right down.
