		Farewell Jesse Hogan

Reckon we'll go with 38 senior list, 4 rookie list & 2 category B rookies for the year. 8 retirements/delistings and 3 trades out creates 11 vacancies. We've already got Bradtke & Walker coming in as Cat B rookies takes 2 spots. Trade in May, KK & Preuss makes 5. Use 4 Picks at the National Draft is 9. One Pick in the Rookie Draft is 10. One delisted free agent = 11.

		Farewell Jesse Hogan

What would people think of this scenario (in the spirit of getting the deal done): Brisbane trade Pick 5 to us & 32 to Fremantle Fremantle trade Lachie Neale to Brisbane & Pick 23 to us We trade Hogan to Fremantle & Pick 46 to Brisbane Means Brisbane loose Picks 5 & 32 but get Neale & Pick 46 Fremantle loose Neale & Pick 23 but get Hogan & Pick 32 We loose Hogan & Pick 46 but gain Picks 5 & 23. Fremantle can then trade Picks 11 & 49 to GWS for Lobb & Pick 25. We trade Pick 5 & future 3rd Round Pick to Gold Coast for May & KK. Finally knowing we have picks 54, 62 & 65 up out sleeve to match any bids from 30+ for Bedford, we package picks 23 & 36 to Richmond for Pick 17 & a late pick. Net Gains OUT: Hogan, Tyson, Kent, Pick 36, 46 & future 3rd Round Pick IN: May, KK, Preuss, Pick 17, Pick 62, Pick 65 That reads ok to me.

I'll trade him, but only for a deal that helps us get May. Pick 11 doesn't do that.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS

Disagree. With no more D-League, you can't have too many specialist rucks on your list. Three rucks with a handful of players who are capable of pinch hitting (T. Mc, Weideman, Keilty etc) is all you need.

There a link/pod cast to this discussion by any chance?

		Farewell Jesse Hogan

In theory yes. Not too sure how many of their players have that currency though...

		Farewell Jesse Hogan

They can't. They've already traded their future 3rd rounder. Means they can't trade their future 1st Round Pick, only 2nd, 4th, 5th etc...

		Farewell Jesse Hogan

Freo will trade Pick 5 to GWS for Lobb & Pick 14. Means we'll get Picks 6 & 14 for Hogan.

		Farewell Dom Tyson

Found the comment on Tyson in The Age interesting: Melbourne Picks: 34, 45, 53, 89 Trade Outlook: Another busy time for the Demons who hope to recruit May with picks gained from trading out Hogan. They will land Suns' wingman Kolodjashnij and lose Dean Kent to St Kilda. Aaron vandenBerg is likely to get to Sydney with the trade request based on compassionate grounds after his father died this year. Dom Tyson is exploring his options but clubs are unlikely to commit until other decisions are made while North Melbourne's Braydon Preuss is expected to join the Demons. So it sounds like we may not hear much about where/if Tyson is going until we find out what's happening with the likes of Shiel & Setterfield. Sounds as though Dom will be someones 2nd choice. Also sounds like Vandenberg's gone....

		Farewell Jesse Hogan

The only thing I can think of is that he wants out of a footy state? Allow him to have a bit more of a normal life style/out of media street and he sees Brisbane as the team with the best future (of the 4 northern teams). Otherwise it doesn't make sense to me?

2019 best 22 and depth chart

Should make a few changes to this. Now based on the assumption that we're loosing Hogan, Vandenberg, Tyson & Kent but gaining (at least) May, KK & Preuss. FB: Lever, May, Jetta HB: Hibberd, Frost, Lewis C : Harmes, Brayshaw, Kolodjashnij HF: Petracca, T. McDonald, Melksham FF: Hannan, Weideman, Spargo FOLL: Gawn, Oliver, Viney INT: Fritsch, Jones, Neal-Bullen, Salem Depth: JAYDEN HUNT (HB/wing to provide plenty of run), JOEL SMITH (mid sized defender), O. MCDONALD (tall defender), STRETCH (outside mid), KENNEDY-HARRIS (small fwd/wing), WAGNER (half back), KEILTY (tall utility Pedersen role). Other Potential Recruits to add to depth/push for best 22: BRAYDON PREUSS (we already know about for the ruck), ANDREW BRAYSHAW (potential part of Hogan trade for inside or outside mid role), NATHAN WRIGHT (worth consideration as a DFA for small defender depth), JAY LOCKHART (should ask for his rights as part of any MAY/KK trade. Outside HB/mid & good user of the footy). Make Viney sole captain and make a big push for Kelly in the 2019 trade period. That just about covers it all I think....

		Farewell Dean Kent

Very true. Although even that does Kent an injustice as he was injured and unable to play on in the 1st quarter of two of those five games.

		Farewell Dean Kent

Stop St Kilda from from achieving what they set out to do. If they trade fair they get their man. If not, everyone looses.

		Farewell Dean Kent

I would have thought no issue at all. Not as though Carlton's list is bursting with talent. He'd be in their top dozen players. Don't see 3 years being an issue for Carltank either.

		Farewell Dean Kent

Melbourne: That's fine. Also Melbourne: Hello Carlton, just thought we'd give you a heads up about someone who will be available in the PSD. Kent is probably worth a pick in the 40's. I have no doubt that we'd accept St Kilda's Pick 57 (likely approx 63 after FA compo) as we've shown that we're fair and reasonable to trade with. Pick 75 is not fair and reasonable.

		Jay Lockhart

Thought Jay should get his own thread. 177cm, 75kg, and will be 23 years old for the start of the 2019 season. Runner up in Casey's B&F and very highly rated by Rawlings. Jay has good speed and uses the ball well. Despite his size, he's shown an ability to win his own ball, playing in multiple roles. Started the year at half back, but then moved to a wing and on ball. Spent short stints forward also, kicking 10 goals for the year. Hoping we can get the rights to Jay through trading with Gold Coast in relation to the May/KK deal. He fits our needs and would be especially good to get a mature body in given the likely departures of Tyson & Vandenberg.

		Farewell Dom Tyson

I have no issues trading out Tyson, and think it would likely suit all parties. Carlton, Essendon & Hawthorn would all be potential suitors IMO. More concerned about Vandenberg potentially leaving. In fact if Vandenberg were to leave along with Tyson, I hope the club considers taking a punt on Nathan Freeman as a DFA so we have a mature bodied mid ready to go with some potential upside.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY

Two things. 1. May isn't Cam McCarthy, he wont sit out a year. 2. The AFL will ensure the club they put millions into will get priority 1 compensation for May if he leaves, whether he were to miss most of the year or not.

And then some as it will cost more than that.

		Bailey Smith

		Yes. Works like Father/Son bidding.

		Farewell Jesse Hogan

Because as mentioned elsewhere, why would Gold Coast trade him now for that potential price, when they could hold onto him for 12 months, let him walk as a free abent and end up with another top 4 pick. It's a nice thought, but no chance Gold Coast would go for it. Plenty of players meet with other clubs and then stay where they are. Dustin Martin, Ling Jong. And Melbourne are confident Aaron Vandenberg will do the same.

		Farewell Jesse Hogan

I get where you're going. If one of the two 1st Rounders we get from Freo in a 2019 pick, then we'll have 2 picks that year to potentially trade for Kelly.
-

		Farewell Jesse Hogan

That's more then fair, and why you would need to look at the trade as a whole. If the trade ends up reading; IN: May, KK, Lockhart OUT: Garlett, Pick 6, Future 3rd Rounder (potentially pick 50'ish) It looks a pretty fair exchange to me as a whole.

		Farewell Jesse Hogan

Chris Yarran, Gary Rohan, Reece Conca, Caleb Marchbank, Sam Petrevski-Seton. One of those superstars? We're in Premiership window territory now. I'm more concerned about what improves us immediately as opposed to in 5 years. Don't forget, in order to get May this year, it needs to be a trade that entices Gold Coast to trade him now as opposed to holding onto him for 12 months. Pick 10 wont be enough for May.
