  1. So if you could pick anyone in the AFL to play for us you'd take Sam Lonergan before Cyril Rioli because he has a body type better suited to footy???
  2. Hadn't heard anything. Problems with his character are there?
  3. Following on from my Mason Shaw thread I thought I should look at probably the next best key forward in the draft out of Oakleigh Chargers. 194cm and 85kg so a bit more work would be needed in the gym for Kristian. He's tipped to go around pick 15-25 so in the chance that Ben Kennedy isn't available at pick 13 would Kristian be worth a look there, especially if we use picks 3 and 4 on say Toumpas and Wines? Apparently is capable of playing both ends and has very good pace and agility. Curious as to what people think of Jaksch at pick 13 especially in comparison to Shaw at 4? Edit: Spelling
  4. Thought he deserved his own thread. 198cm 92kg key forward who can also play in the ruck and is a good mark. Kicked 66 goals for South Fremantle last year as a 17 year old and is expected to go in the top 10 this year. With his body weight/height he doesn't have that much weight needed to put on either. If we are able to secure Viney in the second round and are able to take Toumpas with pick 3. Would Shaw be worth a punt at pick 4??? That way we've secured an inside midfielder, an outside midfielder and a key forward to address three of our weaknesses. Wonder what people think of him, especially our WA Demons and if he'd be worth the punt at pick 4? I suspect the Bulldogs will take him at 6 otherwise.
  5. I think it could be a bit ho-hum for us this year Ron. I wouldn't be suprised if we only pick 2 rookies, being one Clint Bartram and Liam Jurrah. Bartram to see if he can recover from his knee issue and Liam for his obvious court case in March.
  6. Has David Mackay signed a new conract with Adelaide? Would love it if we could get him to rotate off half back and through the midfield. Was thinking we could try and secure him through a three way deal that would of seen Stef Martin go to the filth as has been rumored.
  7. I agree that he does have a lot of talent however my concern is that he's just another skinny kid.... Reckon they'd want a bit more then that also. We probably wont be able to use our 2nd round pick in any trades either as I believe once that picks nominated for Jack Viney we can't even swap it for another 2nd round pick. I may be mistaken though???
  8. Haven't seen one. As far as our list goes I know that Davey will be a restricted free agent and then if any of Bartram, Dunn, Bate, Moloney (depending on salary) or Rivers were to receive only 1 year contract extensions they'd be unrestricted free agents next year.
  9. I mentioned in another thread that maybe Petterd for Stevens could work? Even if it was through a three way deal that maybe saw Petterd to Brisbane and a third round pick to West Coast that sends Stevens our way. We need another inside mid aswell as an outside mid. Stevens is the moneyball type inside mid we should target if we can't get Boak. David MacKay from Adelaide should be the outside mid we should target.
  10. It's a difficult one trying to think what is a fair trade for someone like Gumbleton? Former no 2 draft pick who's played less then 30 games in nearly 6 years due to injury issues. Clearly has talent but will struggle to get a game due to the Bombers having Hurley, Crameri, Joe Daniher to come and often having Patty Ryder as the resting ruckman down there. They may see the value in someone like Moloney to give Watson some support for 2-3 seasons?
  11. With a fair and balanced view/agenda like this RR you should apply for a job with Fox News in the USA!
  12. No non Melbourne supporter would take him in the first round because the media like to paint him out as Melbourne's whipping boy for two reasons. 1 because he was a number 1 draft pick and 2 because he plays for Melbourne so the media want to get on his case.
  13. This really gets on my nerves! Watts does not play loose man in defence. He always has an opponent but zones off. I don't know how many times the coach has to say it or you even have to watch a game to realise that he does not play as a loose man apart from the very, very odd occasion.
  14. Ontop of my earlier post, if we were to go down the moneyball path, some cheap to obtain players we could get through tade/free agency could be along the lines of. Moloney* & 3rd round pick to Essendon for Gumbleton. Petterd to Brisbane, 3rd round pick to West Coast, Koby Stevens to Melbourne. Martin to Collingwood, Buckley & 3rd round pick to Adelaide, MacKay to Melbourne Jarred Moore & Jordan Russell as free agents. * I know that Moloney is a restricted free agent so trade value isn't that high. However due to our fortunate salary cap space we are able t play the sign and trade game and get something through a trade. Essendon get a midfielder to help out Watson and we get one of their many tall forwards. Win win!
  15. One of your worst RR. There should be a 4th option of none of the above. Two totally different players who play different roles at two teams on opposite sides of the ladder at the moment. It would be like saying who was a better player, David Neitz or Nathan Bourke??? A better player to compare Watts to is Brendon Goddard and where they were both at at this stage of their careers.
  16. Main areas I reckon we need to focus on targeting are. * Key position forward. * Small crumbing forward * Inside midfielder & inside/outside midfielder * Rebounding defender Players I'd love to target in order of each position are. Key forward: Travis Cloke, Scott Gumbleton, Shaun McKernan Small crumbing forward: Jarred Moore, Shannon Byrnes, David Ellard Inside midfielder: Travis Boak, Kobe Stevens, Adam Selwood Inside/Outside midfielder: Josh Caddy, Leigh Montagna, Farren Ray Rebounding Defender: Jordan Russell, David MacKay, Josh Toy Edit: Forot about David MacKay so replaced Clinton Young with him as I think Young would be unlikely to move.
  17. From what I've been keeping track of the Melbourne players available look to be. Gysberts Cook Evans Davis Spencer Tynan Couch Fitzpatrick Sheahan & Williams On top of that you can throw in Viney and if Strauss were to play for Casey this weekend (final home & away match) he'd be available also. Eleven players isn't too bad. Gysberts, Viney & Couch in the middle should give Casey first use of the ball with Spencer in the ruck with Fitzpatrick to give a chop out and resting up forward. Certainly a flag chance touch wood.
  18. Have a list of players who should be eligable to play back at home. Will post it later tonight after I get back from work.
  19. Haha! Touche! Probably should have re-worded that to 'just to give him a stay of execution'.
  20. 1 year contract for me. I suspect both Jurrah & Bartram may not be there next year which will give Dunn an extra year to show what he's got. Edit: Spelling
  21. Jarred Moore and Shannon Byrnes are both free agents. They should be top of our list.
  22. Essendon supporter mate reckons the best they could offer is Gumbleton and a 2nd round pick. Having said that he doubts they'd let Gumbleton go. Reckon we're in a good position with pick 13 and maybe Petterd.
  23. Good young tall rebounding defender. But with Watts, Garland, McDonald and Frawley where would he fit in???
  24. Agree. Clash strip today was stupid. I don't know what was wrong with our clash strip of 2004???
  25. I'll be interested to see how acurate this article is. I note that no one from Melbourne has been quoted in it.... Personally I really want to see Rivers, Blease and Strauss signed up. The rest I'm not as concerned about. Gysberts is an interesting one. If Geelong are really keen, what sort of a trade would they offer???
