2nd in Carlton's B&F the other year, uses the ball well, decent pace and can play a shut down defensive role on small and mid sized forwards, no don't know what I was thinking.... Russell in our back line means someone like a Grimes, Bail or Blease can spend more time in the midfield to cover Scully's loss.

With Ross Lyon staying at St. Kilda I reckon it leaves us with the following to chase. Mick Malthouse Dean Laidley Rodney Eade Mark Neeld Scott Burns Brenton Sanderson Ken Hinkley Alan Richardson Peter Sumich Leon Cameron Neil Craig Mark Williams (if available) Fingers crossed we can land Malthouse, otherwise I'd be after either Laidley or Burns. Would love to land Goddard, that would be a huge win for the club. I'm sure all St. Kilda supporters would love us if we picked up not only their coach but Goddard also. Well it seems as though Scully has left and Morton has signed on for a further 2 years which kills off trading him. Apart from Cornelius & Russell who were the players I initially said I'd chase some other players who I'd now be looking at would be. Chris Dawes or Lachlan Hansen KPF's. Other options to Cornelius. Andrew Gaff or Josh Toy, other midfields/HBF (Toy) options to Russell. Dawes I reckon we could get in a three way trade. Warnock to Hawthorn, Ellis to Collingwood along with our 2nd round pick. Hansen if we went down that path could be as easy as a straight swap for Dunn. Gaff would be difficult. Maybe both our comp picks for Scully & Maric could get it done as West Coast are looking for a small forward. Toy would also be tough if we went after him. Might require another 3 way deal. Warnock and a 2nd round pick to Hawthorn for their 1st round pick which goes to Gold Coast along with Maric. Not sure how realistic any of those would be but just something as a possability. In order my preferd target order for the mids & forwards would be. MIDS: Gaff Toy Russell FORWARDS: Dawes Hansen Cornelius

Hell yes, if he's home sick we should target this kid big time! He'll be a star I have no doubt. I made mention in another thread that I reckon we should target Jordan Russell, but I'd be even happier with Josh Toy, can play the same type of role to free up a Grimes, Blease or Bail etc to spend more time in the midfield. Question mark will be over his ability to shut an opponent down, can he play on the oppositions best smalls? If we can get a draft pick in the mid 20's for Warnock & our 3rd round pick then maybe Maric and that pick in the mid 20's could get the deal done?

Warnock, Green, Maric, J. MacDonald & Wonna are our uncontracted players along with our rookie minus Evans & Nicholson who signed 1 year extentions. Fitzpatrick was also but I heard earlier this year he'd signed on for 2 more years but haven't seen or heard anything from the club confirming that. Dunn is contracted for next year.

Was in year 12 that year. Had been watching the channel 10 late news in bed when I decided to turn it off early and go to bed. About 2min later my mother knocked on my door and told me what had happened. Then proceeded to go into the lounge room and watch it all unfold on TV watching it with the folks. Personally I'd love nothing more then to hear a press conference called for 11am on Tuesday at the MCG. Upon the media entering there is a long table with 8 people sitting on the table with 3 key figure heads Stynes, G. Lyon & McLardy sitting in the middle. Upon the conference starting Stynes/G. Lyon/McLardy inform everyone that the conference has been called to announce some major signings for MFC. Firstly to informing everyone that West, Royal & O'Donnell are no longer assistant coaches at MFC and that in their place Melbourne have appointed Dean Laidley - New Backline Coach Luke Power - New Midfield Coach (love to kill off GWS picking him up as a player.) & Todd Viney - Back to his role as a player development coach. However the two most important announcements are that: Tom Scully - Signed on for a further 4 years for approx only $350,000 a season, well under what GWS were offering. And: Ross Lyon - Has signed a 3 year deal to coach MFC. Then to hear the usual from Scully that money was never a factor and he always wanted to stay with MFC, however just on his managers advice from his first season he'd decided they wouldn't sign till the end of this season just so he can see what other options were. Then Rossy Lyon & some of his new assistants to talk about how the chance to take up a coaching role with this team was to great an opportunity to pass up. Then the week following the grand final a press release from Melbourne to inform everyone that Mark Williams (current assistant, not Chocco) & Chris Connolly have been let go by the club also, but in their place the club have appointed: Scott Watters - Head Assistant Coach & Cameron Bruce (delisted by Hawthorn) - As new General Manager of Football operations. Again usual speal of Watters wanting a new challenege of a head assistant role with the changing landscape at Collingwood and that Melbourne are perfectly placed to make a run for bigger and better things. Bruce to say how he's thrilled to be given the opportunity to come back to the club, especially as it will be in a role where he has the chance to improve the sometimes strained relation ship between the Melbourne players & admin. Watched opening ceremony and first half of the NZ-v-Tonga match last night before the footy started. Have to admitt I do enjoy watching the world cup matches. And today there's 4 matches on back to back to back to back! I'm expecting New Zealand or Australia to take it out, after them there's the usual suspects of England, South Africa & France. Dark horse for mine is Ireland. Anyone else taking an interest in it?

Trying to play one day/twenty/20 cricket in a test match. Dilshan's not the sort of person that should be their captain and his batting far to ill disciplined and hardly sets a good example for his team mates. Really like the look of Lyon & Copeland, lets hope they're given a good run at it. Wonder what this means for Siddle?

Well the silly season's just over a month away so I thought I'd see who everyone would be looking at targeting from other clubs and exactly what they'd use to obtain them? On one hand lets say Scully stays and it's announced at our B&F. (Fingers crossed!) I'd suggest to Morton that he consider the greener pastures of GWS, with any luck we may get an end of 2nd round pick compensation for him If they take him as an uncontracted player. I'd then try to trade that pick and Warnock to GWS for a pick in the mini draft. I know it wont land us O'Mera, but we could still with any luck land pick 4 and get another good youngster. Bate & our 3rd round pick (should be in the low 50's) to St. Kilda for their 2nd round pick (should be low 40's). Maric and our 2nd round pick (should be about pick 35) to Brisbane for Aaron Cornelius. On the other hand lets say Scully does walk to GWS. Trade Morton & our end our end of 1st round compo pick to GWS for a pick in the mini draft. Not sure if it would be enough to land O'Mera but would give us a chance. Cornelius is a KPF who's been in the system 3 years now who I reckon is ready to take the next step. Struggles for opportunities in Brisbane cause of Brown, Clark, Retzlaff etc. Is a good mark and pretty good kick at goal. Russell I'd only look at if Scully left. Would slot into our back line beautifully allowing a Grimes, Bail or Blease to spend more time in the midfield in the event Scully's not there. Can play the shut down defeder role Bartram usually does but has better disposal, he's also quick and can play on smalls and medium sized forwards. Has been out of the side a couple of times this year due to Carlton's large number of medium sized defenders. I reckon all other trades are realistic. Most optimistic one would be Bate & our 3rd round pick to St. Kilda for their 2nd round pick. Reckon it's possible though as St. Kilda do need another tall forward to help out Riewoldt when Kosi has to go into the ruck. Ryan Gamble certainly hasn't made that role his own.

Karma for the 2000 grand final. He was an absolute **** the way he went out to put Green out of the game and in to a hospital as soon as he could. I wish nothing but more embarrasment for the man in the future.
