  1. I hope we recruit some kids with a real hard edge about them. In the past we've gone with to many nice boys to run around on the MCG, and we know what happens to nice guys!
  2. All of them well worth a look. I reckon Wellingham will be a bit more tough to get but we'll wait and see.
  3. It makes you a troll because you're completely dismissive of other posters comments when these are the facts. 1. The comment was made that although it most likely wouldn't happen, Gaff would be the type of player we should try and get. This thread is called 'Who should we pick up'. 2. It was then suggested by another poster that for the right price he may consider a move. 3. You've then come in on your high horse and said that he's contracted and that anyone who follows the footy would know that so it wont happen. 4. You've then been corrected that just because a player is contracted it doesn't mean they can't be traded. If you would like an example of such, we traded Woewodin under contract as did North Melbourne with Byron Pickett. 4. You've then said it wont happen and we have as much chance of landing him as we do Swan or Franklin. Something that has already been acknowledged by the other poster, and then acted like an immature 11 year old in editing posts of the same people you are taking to task to try and make your point and that it shouldn't even be discused and that no club would trade for unproven draft picks. 5. You also say we can't compare it to the Jeff White situation because he wanted to come back to Victoria and we had picks to trade where as Gaff doesn't have that issue. Well after wanting to come back intertstate I would have thought the next biggest reason to move is for money something that we have ample of to offer players at the moment. Also if we did secure MD pick 1 then I'd argue that we do have the picks. You also said that a club would never trade one of their young stars for an unproven player yet that's a very example of it happening. Also when the example of Hawthorn trading Croad (who didn't even want to leave) was given you chose to ignore it. You're like the On the Couch panel choosing not to ask Brock McLean why he went to Carlton if he left Melbourne when Carlton have a history of tanking also. But that's ok Wiseblood, clearly we've upset you. So if you can supply us with a list of all players currently in the AFL and highlight only the ones that you think are players that we could possibly get then we can make sure this never happens again. Otherwise we'll just have to agree to disagree as to whether it's possible or not, but we can both agree that the likely hood of it happening are minimal at best. Edit: Draft picks
  4. I really have to learn not to even worry about responding to trolls. I guess Jeff White would have been no chance to come to Melbourne either after the 1997 season. And I think you're being a bit generous to Gaff in suggesting a trade for him is equally as unrealistic as a trade for Franklin or Swan would be. Goodnight you muppett!
  5. I know what your talking about oh wise one. It would be like a team playing in the 2001 prelim final and then trading their young up and coming CHB who their fans adore for an unproven Number 1 draft pick. Would never, ever happen!!! It's ok Wiseblood, you've been shown up and you've got your back up, I can understand. End of the day it's something that could although highly unlikely and I doubt ever would happen.
  6. What about the 26 year old Jarred Moore that plays with Sydney? Not against looking at Speight. But at the same time I have no doubt that Neeld is looking at experience at leadership qualities along with ability. Something Moore has in spades. But Speight could be worth a look also.
  7. And a contracted player has never been traded before??? Think everyone knows that Gaff is contracted just like everyone knows a contracted player can be traded. As it's been mentioned it would be a long shot and is highly unlikely. Only way I could see it happening would be if neither GWS or GC bid on Viney and GC don't trade for any of the MD picks. Melbourne trade picks 3 & 4 for both MD picks and then ontrade MD pick 1 to West Coast for Gaff so they can take Jack Martin if they were really keen on him. Don't think it will happen, but that's the only way I could see it happening.
  8. Fitzy will actually tell you that he's a forward who can ruck and not the other way around. I reckon we'll trade/free agent sign one KPF in and draft another. And that doesn't include the possability of picking up Hogan in the MD.
  9. http://www.afc.com.au/players/playerprofile/shaunmckernan/tabid/4506/playerid/19949/category/senior/season/2012/selected/bio/default.aspx Not sure what it would take to get McKernan over. Maybe they'd do a swap with Cook?
  10. Still think we need one of each of the following. MY HITLIST OF GETABLE PLAYERS Key position forward: Scott Gumbleton, Aaron Cornelius, Shaun McKernan Small crumbing forward: Jarred Moore, Shannon Byrnes, David Ellard Inside Midfielder: Koby Stevens, Josh Caddy Outside Midfielder: Danyle Pearce, Ben Jacobs or Andrew Gaff as a long, long, long, long, long long long shot! Running half back: Jordan Russell, Xavier Ellis, Josh Toy Three of my 5 first choices are free agents meaning minimal would need to be given to obtain them. For the record, Monfries who's been linked with us would be my 5th choice for a small forward after Matt White from Richmond. Edit: Add Gaff.
  11. On Fitzy I reckon he'll be a constant fixture in the team next year in the old Leigh Brown role. 2nd ruck/3rd tall forward. We wont loose much around the ground with his speed and he's a very servicable ruckman. VFL game earlier this year he played no1 ruck against Port Melbourne and was best on ground. I think Fitzy has just about arrived. Amazing how his form turned around after he was properly diagnosed for his condition.
  12. If we were to recruit him as cover for Batram I'd argue his decision making is better then Barters making it an upgrade!
  13. Don't think we'll land Lynch for the reasons alread stated and thre's no way North would let Tarrant or Hansen go. They've both just started to look good and are important pillars in their forward line. The players I'm interested in are: Scott Gumbleton: Very strong mark, strong build and if we can get his body right would be a great CHF for us. He's also 4th/5th in line at Essendon with Hurley, Crameri & Ryder taking the 3 tall forward spots leaving Gumby to battle with the soon to arrive Daniher. Aaron Cornelius: This guy can still make it I reckon. Played 8 games this year, averaging 4 marks and 9.5 possesions a game kicking 13 goals. Brisbane played him at FF this year but I think CHF would suit him. Allow him to lead up the ground and play as a bit of a link CHF. Put some bulk on and learn to influence contets a bit more then he has so far. Shaun McKernan: If Tippett leaves Adelaide he'll be hard to get. But if Tippett stays he'll certainly be on the cards. A lot of talent and pretty strong. Can also chop out in the ruck if need be. And players that we could draft into the position for the future would be Jesse Hogan, Mason Shaw and Kristian Jaksch.
  14. A very good question to which I don't have the answer. All I can say is that I know I've seen him play good solid footy in the past and sometimes some players fall out of favour for no real reason. Look at Grigg at Carlton. I trust the FD to make the right call.
  15. http://www.heraldsun...f-1226466851076 What do we think? Unrestricted free agent who's had 2 top 5 B&F finishes at Cartank. Over 100 games experience and is in their leadership group. Has the ability to play on smalls and mid sized forwards. If Bartram can't come back from his injury he'd be a like for like replacement with slightly better kicking and provides more run. Will also be useful if Rivers were to walk. I'd take him personally.
  16. That moron as in Mark Neeld? He wasn't at the club when Gysberts or Cook were drafted sorry to say Tex. If Neeld doesn't think they're up to it and they're not willing to work hard then they'll be shown the door and although I'll be disapointed to loose Gysberts, cause I see a lot of upside, I'll fully support the coach in doing so.
  17. Would prefer and am hoping it's Jarred Moore. 2nd free agent small forward I'd be keen on is Byrnes and then Monfries. Monfries isn't the worst going around but certainly not the top of my list.
  18. Yes freak, that's why I said an agreement would have to be reached before the bidding for father son. You can't tell me clubs have no contact with eachother re: trades before trade week/father son bidding begins. In principle agreements would be struck all the time! As for Jack Viney, the club have already told him that there's no guarentees. That was the old regime that had the media conference with him and spoke of the agreement. There is no binding contract in place, the club can pass if they see fit. I hope that's been spelt out well enough for you.
  19. Russian roulette is a very dangerous game to play! But a Petterd for nothing deal could be on the cards...
  20. Don't recall saying that we were going to scare GC. The agreement would be with GWS. It would be that GC are going trade pick 2 to them and that we will trade pick 3. That being the case then they don't nominate Viney. If GC don't trade pick 2 we'll still have pick 4. So if they nominate Viney at 2 we call their bluff, they're stuck with him at 2 and we can take Toumpas or Grundy at 4. If GC and us trade picks 2 & 3 to GWS with the agreement. GWS win with the first 3 picks in the draft. GC win by getting to take Jack Martin instead of trying to frighten us and possibly being stuck with Viney at 2 and missing out on any of Toumpas, Grundy or Martin. We win because we get Jesse Hogan at MD pick 2 and Viney with a 2nd round pick by agreeing to trade pick 3 to GWS. That's how everyone wins!
  21. I see the point your making dee-luded. I don't think anyone is trying to say this is all Bailey's fault. But at the same time he's just as much to blame as the recruiters. CCameron and BPrendergast would have suggested players to Bailey and Daniher prior and they would have had the option of saying 'NO' to soft, or wont make it etc.... There's several people at fault for the mistakes that have been previously, not one persons. Having said that there's equal the blood on Bailey's hands as their is Danihers, Cameron's and Prendergats's. Edit: Spelling
  22. I think it's Tim Smith. But I agree NAH, I really like the look of him.
  23. That is the question. Personally I'm just as confident that Hogan will be a star as I am that either Toumpas or Grundy will be stars. But it's not my call.
  24. That is true, but not everyone goes to the draft combine. Several players don't go each year for different reasons. I've done mock draft at home in which I actually had Towers going late 3rd round. Either way I think he'll be there abouts when our 4th round pick comes around and fingers crossed he's still there. If not there are other players of similar ability I reckon we could take like Marschall and Ross. I reckon our 3rd round pick may get caught up in a packaged trade with Stef Martin to Collingwood, but I could be wrong.
  25. They get pick 1 in the MD and pick up Jack Martin who from all reports is an absolute freak!
