Three years makes a difference
2018 we belted a few sides and played a manic 'get the ball i50' game. But we were one of the easiest sides to score against. We often got beaten out the back, sides would push us into the contest and feed off us on the outside. And when the ball went into our d50 we were 17th in one on ones with Frost and OMac. Blindly obvious we have to get ourselves some quality defenders (no matter how many nuffies here tried to defend OMac and Frost). We got em at a high cost (that looks good value now) and we are a vastly different team. Now our scores come mainly from turnover and defence rather than contest. And we are number 1 for tackles i50. We are very hard to score against. That wins finals.

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Geelong
Except the little bit when Selwood kicked it directly to the boundary line with 48 seconds to go And when Hawkins pinned Clarry's arms and drove him into the turf And when Hawkins pushed out May to mark the ball 3 times. Funnily enough he didn't point any of those out...

- COACHES VOTES: Rd 21 2021
Bont wont poll in rd 23 Wines was probably just pipped by Boak in rd 23 Oliver should get the 10 but might only get 9 if Scott wants to be a prat and only gvive him 4- What they're saying down at Moorabool Street (in an alternative universe)
agreed- Petracca post match interview
Great interview. Many of us have the scars of 50+ years - and there are many - but the players don't neccessarily have that. I'm reminded of a Jason Taylor interview where he said we wanted to build a team that came through on a journey together and I honestly think we are that side now. When you look at our drafting we have guys that have come thorugh together in Tracc, Oliver Viney, McDonald, Gawn, Salem, ANB, Harmes. Most of them are great mates but they have also embraced Lever, May Tommo and BBrown A good mix of experience, 100+ games, young talent and guys who are in it together and understand the sense of history and the hurt of supporters. Goodwin has been very vocal about the support base and I think they really mean it. Its an exciting time to be a Dee fan.- POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Geelong
The AGE gave Oliver 9/10 Not exactly sure what more he could have done. The prefect game if you ask me, 39 touches, 27 contested! Superstar. And his 2 goals were vital- POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Geelong
Geelong are cooked. Mentally scarred from that. Will go out in straight sets.- What they're saying down at Moorabool Street (in an alternative universe)
All got stuck into Stanley, and Guthrie who they said was extremely soft, and Dangerfield not touching it in the last and spending 8 minutes on the bench and Scotts style of play chipping it around to save the game......- What they're saying down at Moorabool Street (in an alternative universe)
Virtually every post I read on their site said the 50m was justified. It was there but pretty harsh given the state of the game and the fact that Close probably didn't know exactly where the boundary line was as he was focused on teh ball. He also hit the full on the full unlike Melksham's effort where the ball had already hit the deck. In any case it was one against the flow of putrid decisions like Brayshaw's a minute earlier and May's deliberate, and Clarry's deliberate and Hawkins head slam of Oliver.... It would never have been paid in a full stadium at Geelong.- Jake Lever Take A Bow
And there are still those that think OMac and Frost were the answer...'oh but they got us into the finals in 2018..."- Jake Lever Take A Bow
Thought he had a mare in the first half. The defence were fumbly, bumping into each other and woefully out of sorts. This was probably exemplified by the speed of the ball movement into the Geelong fwd 50 but to me they seems way off. But boy did lever turn it around in the second half. Magnificent effort. Really stood up when it counted. And even Smith did a pretty good job on Rohan who had abot 4 complete stuff ups in the last quarter alone.- GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Geelong
I think your post is the most embarrassing- GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Geelong
Fritch McDonald Spargo Jackson 5 kicks between them ANB rivers Smith 1 kick each FMD- GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Geelong
Their game plan is unchanged. Chip chip chip kick inside 50 You'd think that a game plan that has stayed the same for the last 10 years might actually be defended by us- GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Geelong
Defence is in tatters Uncontested possessions are killing its because we refuse to man up
