Casey 11.12.78 to Geelong 7.7.49 at three quarter time. Goals: Hughes, Newton 3, Dunn, Jurrah, Petterd, Robertson, Valenti. Cheney is playing a special game today - outstanding. Dunn, Petterd, Valenti and Hughes among the best. Robbo's kicked 1.6. Freezing out here!
-
Scorps continuing on with their good form. Great goal to Dunn and Hughes has also just kicked a nice one. He's really playing well and proving dangerous.
-
Half Time: Casey 7.9.51 to Geelong 4.4.28. Goals: Newton 3, Hughes 2, Jurrah, Robertson. Dunn and Cheney the best. Robbo's missed a few. Just heard the score in Geelong v Essendon. If any Cats fans are on their way here I suggest they turn around and head for the G or wherever they're playing the Bombers. Off to the canteen.

Casey 5.8.38 to Geelong 3.3.21. Jake Spencer injured. Looks like an ankle. Boot off!
-
Watts has been playing up the ground and has been quiet to date.
-
Casey 5.7.37 to Geelong 1.2.8 thanks to some good work from Jurrah and Hughes. Newton is working his butt off. Can't say the same for Robbo ATM.
-
Kyle Cheney and Lynden Dunn flew back from the Coast after not being required as emergencies for the St. Kilda game. As a result James Strauss lined up in the Casey seconds who had a good win. Casey 3.6.24 Geelong 1.1.7. Juice has 2, Robbo 1. Best: Dunn, Cheney, Valenti, & Petterd.

You can probably add Simon Buckley who wasn't selected in any Casey team after missing last week.

Great job Brendan from Ballarat. Sorry I couldn't make it but really ... I would have been pretty mad watching them waste so many opportunities for goals - especially when the Roosters were slotting their shots through the big sticks.

I was going to include some news on the exciting developments going on down there at Casey Fields in my last report but I'll wait until it's all signed, sealed and delivered. This deal seems to be taking forever but I'm assured by someone who knows how local government operates in this country and why councils are so inefficient and costly to operate. Get rid of them all, I say!

The Casey Scorpions are just 9 points in front in a mistake riddled game and that may not be enough because the hawks have the scoring end in the final quarter. Much will depend on who kicks the first goal of the final quarter. Daniel Bell is showing great intensity and is working strongly and tackling hard. Neville Jetta has been very creative while Mark Jamar is working his way into the game against Renouf whoo has probably been just on top in the ruck. James Strauss and Jack Watts have both been quiet.

A change came over the game half way through the second quarter after Casey fought back to lead by 16 points. Suddenly, the Scorps were hesitant and stopped running and Box Hill came at them strongly to wrest the lead temporarily. Casey held a narrow lead at the break after a strong quarter from Neville Jetta and looked relieved when the half time siren rang. Box Hill Hawks jumped Casey again with the first goal of the third term and look to be well in control at this stage of proceedings. Meanwhile - details of the reserves game which Box Hill won easily: Casey Scorpions 2.2.14 3.3.21 7.5.47 12.6.78 Box Hill Hawks 7.3.45 13.6.84 16.10.106 23.14.152 Goals Casey Scorpions Virtue Waite 2 Bolton Clay Creed Healey Matheson Patti Snow Zomer Box Hill Hawks Conyers 4 Cross Hoegel Parker Underwood 3 Marcius Walsh 2 Bull Sandilands Sherwen Best Casey Scorpions Healey Lees Waite Williams Bolton Virtue Box Hill Hawks Cross Bull Carey Parker Nye Sandilands

That was a very wasteful quarter from Casey which was kicking to what appeared to be the scoring end. After conceding the first goal, Casey was in control of the play for most of the quarter but had a lot of trouble converting with Danny Hughes the main offender. Hughes was lively and took several marks but his 1.3 for the quarter should have been at least 3.1 and Casey should be much further in front on general play. The other goalkicker is ruckman Tim Mohr.

Casey 12.6.78 to Box Hill 23.14.152 Healey and Spencer best of the Melbourne players. Zomer struggled early in defence but was good when moved to attack. Liam Jurrah was quiet but what he did, he did well.

Been informed by the club that Strauss appealed and had the suspension overturned.
-
Last I heard, Strauss was going to miss due to suspension.
-
Watts is not available this week because it's been decided that he's playing for Brighton Grammar on Saturday. Strauss was rubbed out for one week by the VFL Tribunal: Won't play this weekend (bye) or the following week.

The upshot of the three quarter time activity at Coburg is that the VFL has come down hard on Casey Scorpions and Coburg Tigers by handing both clubs an $800 fine for their involvement in what it called "Saturday afternoon's massive melee". The melee, which was described by Coburg's star inclusion Ben Cousins as "a good old-fashioned dust-up" during his Monday morning segment on Nova 100 FM has infuriated league bosses, due to the near-inclusion of crowd involvement and the fact the melee was broadcast on ABC TV. AFL Victoria Football Operations Manager John Hook said the behaviour from both clubs was completely unacceptable. See also Pay up for play-up

Nothing in it as far as I was concerned but in these days when you get done in for accidental contact, you never know what the outcome might be. About 171 - 172 cm. The height factor probably had an influence on him not being drafted because he was a prolific ball getter at TAC Cup level. And finally, Peter German's report.

Coburg Tigers v Casey Scorpions 2/5/09
KC from Casey replied to PeterJames's topic in Melbourne Demons
Another good win away from home for the Scorpions 17.13.115 to Coburg's 11.7.73. A good effort against a team loaded with AFL players. Casey Scorpions 1.1.7 7.6.48 11.11.77 17.13.115 Coburg Tigers 2.2.14 7.4.46 7.6.48 11.7.73 The club has a bye next week but should be in the top eight at the end of this round and remember, they've only played one home game to date. Now I'm looking forward to that long, long drive back to Cranny. It's a good thing I've had a set of Hankook tyres installed on the wagon. -
