  1. The Northern Bullants vs. Casey Scorpions Senior & Reserves matches for Round 10 have been rescheduled to Saturday 13th June. The Senior game will remain at 2:00 PM and the Reserves at 11:10 AM and the venue remains Visy Park. The reason for the change is the Carlton Football Club has organised capital works to be carried out at Visy Park on the Sunday 14th and therefore no electricity available.
  2. The Scorpions got better as the game went on and finally overran Werribee to win by 60 points. Miller took the game over in the second half with his strong marking. His kicking for goal was his weak spot with 3 goals 4 behinds. The Dees would be very happy with the form of Jordie McKemnzie and Liam Jurrah. Casey Scorpions 4.4.28 8.11.59 10.13.73 17.18.120 Werribee Tigers 2.4.16 6.7.43 8.10.58 9.16.70 Goals Casey Scorpions Jetta Jurrah 4 Miller 3 Dowse Dunn Newton Petterd Silvagni Wheatley Werribee Tigers Goldstein 2 Baddeley Barlow Denton Howard Obst Pask Speight Best Casey Scorpions Silvagni Miller MacReadie Bartram Wall McKenzie Werribee Tigers Barlow Black Pask Goldstein Martiniello Gleeson
  3. Good play by Dunn and goals to Jurrah, Jetta and Miller give a lead in excess of 5 goals. 17 year old Mitchell Dowse from the Gippsland Falcons is very impressive as 23rd man under the special rule that gives TAC Cup players a chance to play VFL games.
  4. Continual wasteful play by Casey is proving costly. Very much like the Box Hill game a few weeks ago.
  5. Half Time: Casey 8.11.59 to Werribee 6.7.43 Goals: Jurrah 3 Dunn Jetta Newton Petterd Silvagni Best: McKenzie Jurrah Dunn Wall Petterd Matthews Casey's problems in front of goal continue. Disposal around the ground is not all that flash either! Did I hear right? North Melbourne 5 goals ahead of St. Kilda!
  6. Casey Scorpions 4.4.28 lead Werribee 2.4.16 at quarter time Goals Jurrah 2 Jetta Petterd Earlier today the Casey reserves won comfortably with Trent Zomer kicking 3 goals Casey Scorpions 3.5.23 10.13.73 13.17.95 16.19.115 Werribee Tigers 3.2.20 5.5.35 9.6.60 10.8.68 Goals Casey Scorpions Scanlon Zomer 3 Bolton Waite 2 Chivers Creed Clay Costigan Hillberge McLeod Werribee Tigers Tarrant 3 Adams 2 Banjanin Kennedy O'Keefe Palmer Robbins Best Casey Scorpions Taylor Creed Lees Collins Scanlon Bolton Werribee Tigers Kennedy Adams Magnabosco Robbins Kovacevic Lawson
  7. Thanks for pointing this out Fan. My post about Jack was made during the first quarter and, in the end, Jack finished with 21 or 22 touches for the day and in the top half dozen at Casey for disposals. Clint Bartram, whose game many have also described as "quiet", was just behind him. Watts finished up playing a servicable game and is not that far off getting a game at AFL level. He's perhaps a month away.
  8. A third to Robbo and the Scorps push themselves back into finals contention with a good win over the Cats. A late goal to Jurrah, his third and its Casey 16.15.111 to 11.9.75 at full time. Late in the game Robbo showed that he might have learned his less by committing the selfless act of passing while within range of goal. All of Casey's goals were kicked by Melbourne players who were pretty dominant up forward. The Scorpions were well served by James Wall (ruck and defence) and tall backman Peter Faulks. Cheney wins man of the match from me but here are the official club stats - Casey Scorpions 3.6.24 7.9.51 11.12.78 16.15.111 Geelong 1.1.7 4.4.28 7.7.49 11.9.75 Goals Casey Scorpions Hughes, Jurrah, Newton, Robertson 3, Petterd 2, Dunn, Valenti Geelong Podsiadly 4 Johnson 2 Allwright Hunt McKenna West Westwood Best Casey Scorpions Valenti Wall Cheney Dunn Watts Faulks Geelong Hogan Hunt Laidler Podsiadly West Allwright Next week's game is on Saturday and is being televised by ABC1. Report some time tomorrow.
  9. A Petterd goal and finally Robbo kicks his second.
  10. Jurrah just took a great grab, followed by a terrible kick. Followed it up with another mark and his second goal. Scorps lead by 23 points.
  11. Casey 11.12.78 to Geelong 7.7.49 at three quarter time. Goals: Hughes, Newton 3, Dunn, Jurrah, Petterd, Robertson, Valenti. Cheney is playing a special game today - outstanding. Dunn, Petterd, Valenti and Hughes among the best. Robbo's kicked 1.6. Freezing out here!
  12. Scorps continuing on with their good form. Great goal to Dunn and Hughes has also just kicked a nice one. He's really playing well and proving dangerous.
  13. Half Time: Casey 7.9.51 to Geelong 4.4.28. Goals: Newton 3, Hughes 2, Jurrah, Robertson. Dunn and Cheney the best. Robbo's missed a few. Just heard the score in Geelong v Essendon. If any Cats fans are on their way here I suggest they turn around and head for the G or wherever they're playing the Bombers. Off to the canteen.
  14. Casey 5.8.38 to Geelong 3.3.21. Jake Spencer injured. Looks like an ankle. Boot off!
  15. Watts has been playing up the ground and has been quiet to date.
  16. Casey 5.7.37 to Geelong 1.2.8 thanks to some good work from Jurrah and Hughes. Newton is working his butt off. Can't say the same for Robbo ATM.
  17. Kyle Cheney and Lynden Dunn flew back from the Coast after not being required as emergencies for the St. Kilda game. As a result James Strauss lined up in the Casey seconds who had a good win. Casey 3.6.24 Geelong 1.1.7. Juice has 2, Robbo 1. Best: Dunn, Cheney, Valenti, & Petterd.
  18. You can probably add Simon Buckley who wasn't selected in any Casey team after missing last week.
  19. CASEY SCORPIONS v GEELONG at Casey Fields, Sunday 31 May 2009 Round Eight and the Scorpions take on the in form Cats who caused one of the upsets in Round 7 beating a star studded AFL aligned Sandringham. The Scorpions will be keen for revenge as they have let two games slip in the last two weeks. 20. Great job Brendan from Ballarat. Sorry I couldn't make it but really ... I would have been pretty mad watching them waste so many opportunities for goals - especially when the Roosters were slotting their shots through the big sticks.
  21. I was going to include some news on the exciting developments going on down there at Casey Fields in my last report but I'll wait until it's all signed, sealed and delivered. This deal seems to be taking forever but I'm assured by someone who knows how local government operates in this country and why councils are so inefficient and costly to operate. Get rid of them all, I say!
  22. The Scorpions stopped to a walk and were over run in the last quarter to record a disappointing 15 point loss. Casey Scorpions 3.5.23 6.8.44 8.11.59 10.14.74 Box Hill Hawks 3.1.19 6.5.41 7.8.50 13.11.89 Goals Casey Scorpions McNamara Mohr Newton 2 Bell Hughes Jetta Stockdale Box Hill Hawks Gibson 4 Breust 3 Lisle 2 Iles Kennedy Neil Smithwick Best Casey Scorpions Bell Stockdale Silvagni Mohr Hughes McNamara Box Hill Hawks Gibson Renouf Schoenmakers Kenna Breust Iles
  23. The Casey Scorpions are just 9 points in front in a mistake riddled game and that may not be enough because the hawks have the scoring end in the final quarter. Much will depend on who kicks the first goal of the final quarter. Daniel Bell is showing great intensity and is working strongly and tackling hard. Neville Jetta has been very creative while Mark Jamar is working his way into the game against Renouf whoo has probably been just on top in the ruck. James Strauss and Jack Watts have both been quiet.
  24. A change came over the game half way through the second quarter after Casey fought back to lead by 16 points. Suddenly, the Scorps were hesitant and stopped running and Box Hill came at them strongly to wrest the lead temporarily. Casey held a narrow lead at the break after a strong quarter from Neville Jetta and looked relieved when the half time siren rang. Box Hill Hawks jumped Casey again with the first goal of the third term and look to be well in control at this stage of proceedings. Meanwhile - details of the reserves game which Box Hill won easily: Casey Scorpions 2.2.14 3.3.21 7.5.47 12.6.78 Box Hill Hawks 7.3.45 13.6.84 16.10.106 23.14.152 Goals Casey Scorpions Virtue Waite 2 Bolton Clay Creed Healey Matheson Patti Snow Zomer Box Hill Hawks Conyers 4 Cross Hoegel Parker Underwood 3 Marcius Walsh 2 Bull Sandilands Sherwen Best Casey Scorpions Healey Lees Waite Williams Bolton Virtue Box Hill Hawks Cross Bull Carey Parker Nye Sandilands
