  1. Great report - replays on the Comedy Channel - very funny!
  2. I agree. I reckon if he is presented with a viable opposing ticket, he would leave without resistance.
  3. I apologise oh king. Everyone is doing a magnificent job.
  4. You know you really are a nasty piece of work. If I come out and name names, which would be unprofessional, I would rightly be slammed by you and others for using a forum such as this to air my dirty laundry. Get over yourself mate.
  5. 100%. You won't get it though. It's Good Press Gardner. We have our heads in the sand.
  6. So the Board that promised so much to its voters has left us reduced to a choice between folding and playing half our home games on the Gold Coast? If that's the case, then 2 things: 1. The Board has to admit it has failed, and 2. It's the start of the end anyway, because the AFL gun remains pointed at our heads. And on alternatives, there are many. Some we are exploring (like the China initiative), others have to do with embracing the top end of town and our traditional supporter base and actually giving them value so that they want to spend money on the club. Another is to start giving proper value to sponsors like other clubs do. Another is a consistent branding message so everyone knows who we are, what we stand for, etc... (like the bloods, or the dogs even, who have turned it around). And there must be 1000 more.I wasn't voted in to look at it - it is their mandate.
  7. So you support 5 games at Carrara?
  8. Well measurement is of course impossible from the outside, but it's through anecdote and observation. It's the lack of communication to members (just look at the shambolic state of our website re training times, membership numbers, etc...), the lack of consistency in service delivery to different coterie and other peripheral groups, and some personal experiences I have had with the Board that I care not to share on this forum. Of course we do some things well, but we lack badly against other clubs in the way we treat our members, and I doubt many people who have observed and compared it would disagree. On the President and the Board, I don't profess to know a lot about it, but I am more than prepared to stand by my comments because I do know them to be true.
  9. I agree that we have different challenges to Collingwood, but the reality is, we do have a board that is not supporter focused. It is headline focused and in part totally weak and subservient to the President, who sells himself on marketing and vision.
  10. That ad on page 4 is an absolutely embarrassing disgrace. It is creating some ridiculous artifical "grudge" match out of a game that last year was a farce between idiot and incompetent. I almost spat my weetbix out when I saw it. Truly, it is a worry. No-one has picked up on the fact that Gardner, in the same article, has suggested that it may be that we play 5 games at Carrara from next year. Is he frigging joking? Is he seriously suggesting that after being in the presidency for this long, he is going to leave us a financial mess, an on-field mess, with no identity and 5 out of 11 home games at Carrara? Paul Gardner has to stop the innuendo about his future and state whether he is intending to continue beyond this year. If not, then who is he trying to annoint? If yes, then at least we know so the coup can begin. He has to go.
  11. No, it's not YOUR solution or MY solution. But, like it or not, it is A solution.
  12. Seriously, you are an apologist for everything except your own behaviour. It is a perfectly valid opinion to hold that membership of a club is discretionary depending on the level of value one perceives due to service/performance or quite frankly due to any factor at all. Perhaps ditching membership is an expression of support in that instead of the apologist type attitude we get from you, we may get recognition of a club that in some respects is rotten to its core. In 20 years I have never relinquished my membership, and FWIW I don't see it as the solution. But neither is being patronising for the restaurant comparison or questioning someone's support because they see things differently to you.
  13. I don't think Junior is someone who could cope with the non-football aspects of captaincy. I really don't think it can be anyone else other than Bruce.
  14. Haha. Tissues! I meant the rest of this year.
  15. If Neita retires from after Sunday, who will be the captain for the rest of the year? Or will it be shared? What do people think? My money is on Bruce.
  16. Do you have to drown to know you wouldn't enjoy it? Just because most of us here haven't played AFL doesn't mean we can't form a view. By my logic, a player who has underperformed for the better part of 5 years and has poor application but enormous potential is soft. So a bloke who is underperforming because he is out of form but works hard on improving and at least contributing through 1%ers is not soft. A bloke who tries his hardest but is simply not up to it (AKA Godfrey) is not soft. And Rhino, since you are so intent on playing the man, why don't you try answering the post? What exactly is so hard about Colin Sylvia mate? And since you are clearly a football professor in your own head, perhaps you can enlighten the whole board....
  17. Is he harder than me? Yes. Is he harder than the bloke on the street? Yes. Is he hard for an AFL footballer? Not in my view. But as I said, I rate hardness as more than just being able to take or give a hit. And I have to say, does anyone here actually believe he is harder than whoever his match up is most weeks? Surely not. Therefore, soft.
  18. Ok. Tell me what he has done with his career? He has been on the list for 5 years. What has he got to show for it? Nothing. And it's not because he lacks ability. It's because he lacks heart. In the first couple of years he had OP. Fine, fair excuse. But since then? He refuses to gut run, does not play the percentages and basically pisses away the ability God gave him. Hardness is being willing to be uncompromising mentally, and to make your body overcome physical tiredness by pushing through it. It's not just putting your head over the ball, which it's hard to know whether he does or doesn't because he doesn't make enough contests. This year Colin was supposed to be ready for a massive year (like last year). What does he do? Gets suspended by the club. The guy is also very lucky he was too [censored] to get into the car with Didak that night as well. The waste of talent, refusal to run and lack of contests is why he is soft. As butter. Or is that too shallow for you?
  19. Colin Sylvia is one of the most mentally and physically soft players to ever put on a VFL/AFL jumper.
  20. I think Chris Conolly wrote the lyrics and music to Cmon Demons. Cmon demons, you got me screaming, got me standing on my feet. Come on demons, you got me dreamin', I just feel so great. And it's time now, to show them how, we've got time to celebrate.... riff.... hahaha . Rocking!
  21. The thing I would specifically add to the game summary was Brad Miller's pathetic change into the back of an opponent. It is totally soft and dangerous to canon into the back of a player, and the other thing is, it was so obvious he would do it, always going to be 50 metres, and was pisspoor from a bloke in the leadership group.
  22. How many of you absolute morons who come on here just to target one player actually know anything about Cameron Bruce? Tell me, have you spoken to him? Do you have any idea if he demonstrates leadership around the club? Give some evidence of him being "soft as butter" and mediocre. As if most of your pathetic lives would stand up to the same scrutiny. Fine, bag him for his kicking. There's plenty of evidence that his kicking leaves a lot to eb desired. But his professional integrity, softness, etc.. and such a sustained attack is totally out of line. Have you seen whether he hurts after a loss? For mine, Cam Bruce is the opposite of mediocrity. He was picked up late in the draft (someone can help me on the number) and has extracted a lot of ability out of a guy who, at that stage of the draft, statistically fails to even have a career. He is also one of our only players who would get a game at most clubs. So I have no problem with people calling for him to be traded - calls which are ironic given that you can only trade something with value. But back the hell off with the attacks on the man. It's insulting and reflects poorly not on Cam, but on you.
  23. That's my point! It's very often got nothing to do with the defender that his man kicks goals. Of course Bell is going to be behind if there is no pressure comingf rom our midfield or half-forwards. It's very simplistic to blame him.
  24. Yes you do. You judge them, and you bag them. Always.
