Statements suggesting he wouldn't get a game at a good club are manifestly wrong. You have no idea if he would get a game at Collingwood. Simon Buckley, a D grader by anyone's reckoning, has been getting games at Collingwood. Jones might or might not get a game as a midfielder at Collingwood, but you never know what Malthouse might do with him.
-
Last year Mick Malthouse said on SEN that he viewed Jones to be our most important midfielder, and the one you needed to stop the most for his ability in the packs. Opinions are like [censored]. Everyone has one. Jones isn't a C grader, he's clearly better than that.

Frigging legend in every way.
-
It makes him more persuasive.

I think this is the best possible side we could have at the moment. Well done to the match committee. Let's hope Watts plays forward.
-
Thx for that. Very exciting and good decisions by the club if true.

You actually have an inability to read, or listen, or both. WE ARE NOT SAYING WE KNOW. We are saying the opposite. We are saying we don't know, and that our disproportionate number of injuries in the past few years is worth exploring. By suggesting that our limited sports science/innovation budget is not a factor, you are invalidating clubs who spend a lot more on their sports science (read: the successful clubs). By doing that, you are invalidating sports science. Are you credentialed to do that?
-
Haha. That is all.
-
The problem you've got is a total lack of credibility. You have just said that 40 hitouts miss the target. His effective taps are 2nd in the league. OOPS.
-
http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/115258/default.aspx Oy Jumbo..... you have bagged Stef and in particular said that his hitouts have not gone to advantage... Any comment? It's OK to say you were wrong.

That's a very good question. Which is why a review would be really good. To suggest that more money spent on recovery, sports science, etc... is not going to result in an increased likelihood of better injury outcomes is to invalidate the work being done by successful clubs, and in fact to invalidate science itself. You're getting very close to that. I certainly can't point to the club's management being responsible for the injuries, but I can't exclude it and I think our disproportionate bad run of injuries this year and in previous years warrants investigation.
-
LOL - add Yarran to that list. And scumbags is complimentary.
-
Who's an angry little man?! I know about last year's because I have spoken to a number of people at the club who admit it. There were some problems last year with trainign surfaces, the recovery time lost in transit between Casey and our other facilities prolonged injuries, and a number of other things. The rumour about Scully, which I absolutely do not know to be fact, which is why I called it a rumour, is that he believes (on his own med advice) that we didn't appropriately manage his pre-existing injury. Again, that's why I think an external review would be very useful.
-
I'm sorry, but they are not all contact injuries. They may be impact injuries, but they are not contact. We are all theorising, and my point is that we should have it reviewed.
-
I'm not saying all the injuries are one way or the other, but I have heard rumours about the Scully injury, certainly the Tapscott injury may be related to our management, and without doubt some of last year's injuries were.
-
I'm not so sure. Stress fractures (like navicular) can be load injuries, knee injuries can be load, who knows what hip is....
-
A few years ago one of the clubs, perhaps someone else remembers which one, held an independent inquiry into their injuries to see whether and where there might be things they could do better. With our injuries over the past few years, especially this year, I really think the club owes it to itself and the members to have an expert examine and provide a report to the club on the injuries we have sustained. I would suggest they should be looking at the cause of each of the injuries, and whether they were avoidable. It seems to me from speaking to some people in the know that a large number of our injuries may be related to load/yield management, and therefore potentially there are factors that are avoidable that are contributing to some injuries. I don't believe in coincidences, and really, there have been too many stress and hamstring type injuries. I would also like to know whether the drive to and from Casey, surface at our training venues or any other controllable factors may be contributing. Just my 2c.

And Roos is right about both! He wasn't particularly critical of Colin Sylvia, he used the Sylvia one to demonstrate how the coach's instructions aren't being followed. And if you did see the footage, Sylvia was pretty ordinary in that contest!
-
Actually, leave of absence - Wonaeamirri granted leave
-
It's not fear that's required, it's respect. I actually think the players do fear Bailey more than they respect him
-
It's blood money. Could sleep at night betting against us and would enjoy spending the money if I did.
-
I think Roos was a terrific coach and I agree he got a heap out of the list. But it is a myth that he had a working class list. I think the myth was perpetuated by the "Blood Oath" stuff and propogated through the media. O'Loughlin, Hall, Nick Davis, O'Keefe was as good a forward line as there was. Jolly, Jason Ball and Goodes were all high quality talls. Leo Barry, Kirk, Bolton, Williams and a few others were guns. No injuries at crucial times. And if Roos were to coach us, we would have to get much more used to games like Friday night, with a slow tempo, dragging down the standard of the game and getting a lot of blokes behind the ball.

The thing is, I don't think 85% of us disagree with the sentiment. But 99% also wouldn't disagree with the sentiment that the North melbourne Football Club is a meaningless basket case with no future. Doesn't mean our players should come out and say it after a game against them. So it's not the content of the message, it's the arrogance and disrespect of saying it to the media after the game.
