  1. Surely Fan's comment is fair. The administration has to take responsibility for coaching and footy department appointments. Who else is responsible? The administration picked Bailey, and then moved on in a shorter period than it would have if that choice wasn't a failure. A lot of us knew/felt it was a flawed process and decision that led to Bailey's appointment. If it wasn't a flawed appointment, then I suggest he should have been given one more year (because the field in 2013 is far broader and includes Malthouse, Eade and maybe Roos, Thompson). A lot of our on-field planning has been made a mockery of in where we currently sit. I think the thing that "saves"/makes our Board and admin on balance effective is the extraodrinary steps we have taken off-field to improve and build the foundations for sustained off-field and hopefully on-field success.
  2. You can always run a counter-argument in these discussions. At the end of the day, I don't think the way our list was left at the end of the Daniher era was the same as the other clubs. Tell me who our Shane Crawford is? I agree with some of the points put about youth at the expense of experience and I definitely agree about Junior, but on the other hand, I think our youth policy would not have been unreasonable if we a) picked the right youth and B) developed them properly.
  3. I would like to disagree. But I can't.
  4. You still don't get it. It's got nothing to do with tails wagging dogs. It's got nothing to do with on-field results being slightly better or worse. It's about standards, culture, leadership and trust. James McDonald was performing well enough to keep playing. If the club didn't want someone who was performing well enough to play to keep playing, you would think that they could have communicated with him and that it would not have come as a total shock. Much more so when he is your only great leader and your captain. Even the club admits that it handled it badly. James McDonald never felt it was his right to wear the jumper. Neither does Brad Green. If you can't treat your leaders like that. It has a ripple effect. Ultimately, the decision on Green needs to be the club's, but in our circumstances right at the minute, if Green is adamant about going on (knowing that he may well play out his career at Casey), I would far prefer he be given the opportunity.
  5. As I have previously said, there is absolutely 100% no doubt that Green will be given the opportunity to decide whether he wants to play on next year or not. The club may try to pressure him to retire (not saying they should or shouldn't), but at the end of the day, I have enough faith that we have learnt our lessons from the McDonald debacle to let Green decide. The decision on Green, either way, is in my view not going to be the reason we do or do not ultimately win a flag!
  6. Rank post. How can you possibly justify the statement that the club didn't honour the passing of Stynes. What do you think would have been respectful to mark the passing of Jim? Winning every game? Winning the premiership? Grow up, stupid.
  7. You have to be kidding Thai. Don't say you're neutral then call him incompetent. It's like me saying I'm neutral to your posts, but I think you're a fool.... I watched Tigers and Blues. I saw an up and coming side blow it against a team that missed its window.
  8. Haha. Why stop there tonotopia? Spencer and Cox are both tall. Spencer should be as good as him. Jetta is indigenous. He should be Cyril Rioli. Magner could be Bartel.... This is easy! Neeld has never said the list is anything. So that's just false. Are the dogs improving? Saints? Cats? Blues? Lions? Power? Gold Coast?
  9. I think anyone sensible would have some doubt about an untried senior coach who has yet to deliver results. The point is it's too early to know. Is Sanderson the best coach in the AFL? Hey, it seems so! But maybe he's just got the cattle!
  10. That is the And then you woke up and realised your footy IQ was non-existent. You have to be dreaming.
  11. Nothing has changes this week vs most other weeks this year. Those who say Neeld can't coach - they don't know Those who say he can - they don't know. What we do know is that under any coach, we have a whole lot of spuds. That we do know. Terrible to say, and a lot of it is list management as much as anything, but it is the case. And it means more losses to better sides.
  12. I think this is just bogus.
  13. After the Junior debacle (and it can only be called that), I will bet my house that if the club wants Green to go, and he wants to stay and won't agree to reluctantly retire, we will keep him, under the understanding that he retires end2013 and will only be picked on form. If Green wants to go, he will go, obviously.
  14. Yeh, just saying, it does happen. There's also a different burden of proof in an employment setting, so it would depend on what the club thinks in the circumstances (not referring to Jurrah, just more generally).
  15. What, you mean there's more than one thread on this?
  16. Yes, congrats Greeny. A true professional. I reckon he will want, and get, one more year.
  17. I think that when Neeld turns things around, it will be interesting to see how many people who are bagging him or even really judging him harshly at this early stage come alng for the ride. I reckon one of the frustrations is clearly that someone or a number of people have to be responsible for how much we suck now, and we all know that it wasn't just Bailey (if it was Bailey at all), yet no-one has put their hand up or taken the responsibility. But as for Neeld, I am not sold for the same reason I can't bag him.... it's too early for him to have made a positive and lasting impression. I am simply going on the logic that he is from outside of our culture and from inside successful cultures. As a sheer exercise in logic, I think it's more likely that he is not the problem!!
  18. If you were asked not to comment or you signed a confidentiality agreement like I did when I went in the box once, you really shouldn't be as specific as you have been I reckon. It's not really up to you to decide which bits are OK to publicly broadcast. I'm just saying.
  19. If you were in the box, didn't you sign a confidentiality agreement or at least get asked by the club not to comment on the experience?
  20. Well he can't have meant Rhino, because he's not mental....
  21. Ok, you just keep saying the same thing. Enjoy.
  22. The corollary of that statement is that if we had a good process with a good coach, we would be good, or a lot better. Problem is, look at our list. Aint gonna happen. We have the worst midfield in the league, bar none.
