WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Dappa Dan replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
In the couple of years before his ban, I had him in fantasy and he was an incredible ball winner. I hadn't watched him closely, and had imagined he wasn't much of a ball user. Anyone who got it that much and I didn't know who he was must slaughter it. When he was traded I couldn't believe we only gave up a second rounder. Still can't to be honest. Literally hasn't played anything but great games for us. The only negative is that if he played the first four rounds like he did these four, he'd be in everyone's All Australian side. As it stands though, I'm thinking he'll be ignored. Any excuse to squeeze players out. -
Interesting. Not being fire and brimstone is something I'm interested in. One thing that does is it leaves it to the on field leaders to create that. I think that's why we've struggled in close ones. On field leaders playing perhaps a little nice. Philosophically though, it's good. It means we have that area to improve in. I always felt under Daniher he could get us up in crazy games, like beating Brisbane in Brisbane and WC in Perth... but that because he did that, the players didn't so much. In terms of his in game options, how do we feel? I always felt Roosy didn't have the in game changes as a strength. So far Goody has done a few that have surprised us, and worked. Easy to say that though when we win I guess.
-
Yup, yup and yup. Has Goody added to his reputation after today?
-
Was unreal. When we needed to kick a couple more to get the game under control his handballs created goals. And not just dinky inside ones. Long looping 15 metre ones too.
-
I disagree. Got plenty of the ball. Got in to the packs better than he has earlier this year. No. That's Condescending. The tide turned partly because he came of the back of the square, and did it well. You have to give credit where it's due. When we got going, he created. He didn't create because we got going. He actually created turnovers. Agree generally with your point though. Up until this game, he's been disastrously out of form. No confidence. Looked slow. Today was an improvement. Opinions are opinions, but it's fair enough that supporters got behind him today. He improved somewhat. You don't know more than other people just because you have a beef with a player (albeit an understandable one).

Whoa. Weird being called by my name. Nice to make your acquaintance. Oscar would get into any list in the comp besides those with a full quota of KP defenders with 50 games under their belts. He's a young key position player playing on a local pitch against KP forwards that are sensational, and were playing well. He's a kid. You have to look at what he can do based on what he's done so far. Not on individual mistakes he makes. People mark him harshly but he's in development still. My only problem with him is that we have 3 of the same kind with Frost and TMac as well, so one will have to make way for the heavy we recruit or develop. Either that or he has to add a string to his bow, as all he does is work inside defensive fifty. Saying he's close to worst in the comp. That's just nonsense. Sorry. I get the frustration with him cos he gets exposed, like all young KP defenders. But fair go, he's nowhere near that bad. TMac played all day forward or in the ruck. I think he went back for all of 5 minutes. Two weeks ago he went forward and was a huge part of us beating the best team in the comp. People forget quickly. Tom is definitely a good player. Plenty of good players with bad kicking technique. To each their own though.
-
Each to their own. I like both.
-
Disagree/Agree. lol Weird day eh Sku? I don't feel better at all.
-
Harsh on Tyson and Oliver. Otherwise sound.
-
Was it the worst footy we played all year the first half? And was the second half the best?
-
This is gonna be the best thread to read back. Lol
-
lol at people who think we structure up better without Hogan.
-
3 more goals to them in 3rd quarter and we're finished.
-
Deserve to lose this.
-
This is awful. Awful, awful, awful.
-
And he's been forgotten. Never spoken about as a great servant cos he was fairly meek media wise. Good to see there's people here who still appreciate him though.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 10
Dappa Dan replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Absolutely massive. -
Yeah I was in the "leave him alone he'll come good" camp. But the soft thing followed him for his first few years. Back in the early land vs ology days. I love to use him as an example that it is possible to get better as a player in some areas. Like toughness. Would love if a bit of it transferred to Watts.
-
Yeah. Sometimes it's worth it. Looking at how the Hawks became as good as what they are through kicking skill, and how important that facet's become. Brad would be even better if he started now. Kicked 55 goals in a bad side. That takes some doing.
-
lol For shame, bub. 24 hour ban from the mods is in order I feel. I remember my early days on 'land was midway through Brad's career. He still had a soft tag people had put on him after the GF in 2000. Some posters thought he was hard, some thought he'd always be flakey. The last few years of his career were some of his best. Kept going back with the flight of the ball. He was a beauty Brad Green. How good would he be in the current side.
-
Yeah I don't see any comparison at all between Tippa and Kent. Completely different players, who play the game in a contrasted style. And thanks for your help, but I'm familiar with Kent. Watched every game he's played at AFL level. Doesn't look like superman, doesn't play like superman. They said the same about Brad Green though, and he turned into a super courageous player. Kent still has time.
-
Just looked now. That is an unbelievable oversight. They don't look anything alike. Man the age has dropped off.
-
Yeah. For all those times an AFL player has to deal with me on the G. Before you get your panties in a bunch, I'm not attacking Kent. Just questioning the OP. He's just not a big guy as far as AFL goes. The old looks like Tarzan plays like Jane cliche applies to guys like Sylvia. Ferocious looking unit. Only played well a handful of times. Kent's quick, good on a lead, and is a better kick than people think. I like him as a football player. But does he strike fear into other players' hearts? I dunno. He's not Barry Hall is he.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Dappa Dan replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
To each their own. I don't have him rated that high. Plus I don't like the idea of going two years with only one pick in the first 2 rounds. -

I'd be furious if we [censored] away a first rounder. If we're not gonna go for a seasoned pro and pay up for him, I want us to look further afield and take a punt. Someone like Sam Day who woulc come cheap possibly, given his injury history.
