Does he look like Superman though? He's not a big lad, or a scary one.

Thought Salem would get one. The Cunnington tummy tap though. Ugh...

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY

Yeah. In terms of quality, it's Lever all the way. A lot depends on what happens to the existing guys. You never know when they might make like the Brown boys and free agent themselves away. I'm for the May signing. Would get us very seriously considered for finals. But in terms of age profiles, I'd really love to see us stash a Talia type away and wait 3 years. The real red meat on the list is still 19-22. Speaking of Lever. What does the Hartigan signing do? -

That's our big problem Dazzler. 3 rebounding KP defenders. No big gorilla killers. 3 of the same kind. My heart tells me unless Frost somehow morphs into a 2-metre-player killer, one of the three will have to go out. I would have nominated Frost, since he's not a skill player... But man he's been absolutely lethal on the rebound. -

They're already complaining about a lack of tall forwards. lol -

I think there were bites, but none significant enough... and before it got interesting and late in the piece, Watts stayed out of nowhere. I remember thinking at the time it had something to do with the collective bargaining mess. Bit like Hogan. I think given roles that players play, and flexibility, Watts could net a late first rounder, and that's not just a positive demons supporter carrying on. It would require him playing well the rest of the year. He's only had 2 bad games the last two weeks and has been great the rest of the year. He's very much a cream player. Put him in a side playing well and he'll really produce. My problem with him is he's just not tough, and can't mark without another 10 kilos. On the positive side he was awesome last year, has been super this year. The league is onto him now, and the media has watched him closely and seen his workrate get bigger. Has a huge engine now. And with his unbelievable kick and versatility, he'd be super attractive. Just look at what happened with Vickery. -

It makes sense because it won't take a first rounder to get him. I'd prefer the next rance, but that would cost too much, or take too long to develop. Getting affordable solid defenders as the Hawks have done over the years with Gibson, Frawley and others is a good call as long as we're a destination club and we don't have to give up too much. We have a core of 12 or so guys who are very young that HAVE to be kept. I have a bad feeling we'll be shirting one of our best to get things going. lol at people suggesting trading Kent. No value to other clubs. Watts has value, as does Tyson. I'd prefer to keep Tyson. Having a crappy year, but has won games for us off his own boot in the past. Watts is the interesting one. If you was floated, clubs would come from far and wide, and we could get some really juicy stuff for him. -
Yeah I was the same. This mob smashed the best team in the comp. Put ten goals on them in a quarter. It's not the end of the world. Some are expecting us to go from absolute jokes a couple of years ago to winning every game now. I'm annoyed we lost, and we've been set back a lot this season with injury... but we're on the right track.

Won't catch me disagreeing with McDonalds or Donald criticisms. Very, very sick country. And mate I don't have tickets. Calling a stranger on a site a "clown" suggests you know a thing or two about having tickets on oneself though. Noones claiming America has all the answers. Or many even. I'm not suggesting we become the USA. But I damn sure hope we don't get stuck in some faded memory of what footy was, and resist taking on the future aggressively. I am an unabashed NFL fan, and I reckon if anything we've been slow to borrow some of their concepts and equalisation techniques. We don't have to copy. We can take all of it, borrow what we need, and throw out the rest. Expanded finals/playoffs is a great initiative in my opinion. Wish we'd done it earlier. Same for trading of future picks, free agency etc. I don't expect others to agree. I would suggest you'll see that and more soon though. Agree to disagree.

I can teach you some emoticons so you can better express yourself if you like, old man. I hate America. Lived there for years. Horrible place. But they administer sports better than we do. FACT. You didn't know anything about me, but presumed to know what I like and why. You have no idea what the difference is between knowing something, and suspecting it. FACT. I'm no clown. I'm just a lot smarter and more experienced in sports than you are. It's ok to admit when you're wrong. It's not greed. It's fun for the fans. Works elsewhere. Will work here when everyone in the league, including the professionals sign off on it, and all the dinosaurs can whine and moan impotently as they always have. I do care. Enough to look overseas for techniques that work, so that the game doesn't end up in amateur obscurity. Who you boring? Everyone. This is the kind of whining, moaning garbage that makes this place unbearable after a loss. lol. You want a thriving competition. Look at the crowd numbers. Look at the free flowing footy. Look at the viewership here and overseas. Don't look now but the game is thriving like it never has in the past. And these "greedy" administrators you're so quick to stick a knife into have engineered the most even comp in living memory. FACT. Your views are antiquated and ultimately, useless. FACT. You're welcome to them though. You go be a cranky sook and stick your head in the sand. Meanwhile the game will go on thriving with or without you. FACT.

Ugh. Weed probably stays since there's noone else. Melksham was worse than Wagner. Kent had chance after chance and failed. If JKH had to go then so did he. ANB straight in.
-
I think about him all the time. lol
-
Random name to throw up. lol 10 isn't random. It's a little over half. Let's not get carried away. I have a suspicion that GWS and GC won't be the only sides added in the coming years. Hence why they're ok with expanding it. I'm an unabashed NFL fan and fan of divisions and conferences. So that's my leaning there.
-
No. Start them when they start them or a week earlier. No it's not a fact. This is inane. It's an opinion. Plenty of leagues run with more than 50% competitors playing finals. Even the AFL has done it. Sides can even win the flag after winning the spoon. See that? That is a fact. You're boring me and everyone else. Done.
-
That's not what a fact is. You're entitled to your opinion. So are all AFL fans. I think they're doing a cracking job in the face of inevitable change. And I'm glad they don't get stuck thinking the AFL should stay the same as it was when old people were young. I see Soccer coming, I see NRL still sucking precisely because of the unidirectional thinking their supporters carry on with. But that's my OPINION. I don't misunderstand it as a fact.
-
Fair point. That does drive me nuts. We were pariahs before Crows game. Premiership threats after. Now we're also rans. Nothing's changed. We're young. Learning. Structural injuries. It's way simpler than anyone wants to believe. The core is still there... But boy I'll be interested to see what we trade and draft in in the coming years. That'll play a huge part in how we go. We need a Burgoyne type.
-
Not that they're not entitled to be flat... but are demonlanders really surprised? We got up last week largely on the back of inspiration from Viney and Hoges. We're still kids. We'll win against teams we shouldn't beat. And learn from teams with better leadership. Did anyone seriously EXPECT us to win this week? I don't expect us to win any week after Hawks and Freo.
-
That's a little oversimplified I reckon. The real prime movers on the team, the stars that really make it happen, are all super young. Their prime movers are way more mature.
-
I've been angrier this year. I thought they had a dip. Same old story though. We don't have a KP forward to deal with old telescope arm Brown, Waite and Goldy. They were the difference. Our worst 6 were so bad. Not necessarily through any fault of their own. Watts isn't a KP forward. Never will be. Any one of Pedo, Hogan, Gawn play FF we actually would have had a clear target to kick to to cause a spillage and draw two defenders. We knew this would happen. Roos brought huge effort. 93 tackles. We did too, but just don't have the cattle. That's gonna be the story of our season. Two very tough hard weeks, now GC off a bye. If we're 4-6 I think it'll be too late.
-
Game over. This is the Roos game from last year all over again.
-
Good Kent. You owed us.
-
Huge squib. In this squad, a certainty to be dropped now.
-
Haven't seen umpiring this bad in a long long time. Absolutely changed the result.
-
I love Watts, but he is not a KP forward.

WORST UMPIRING THIS YEAR
