Sandringham V Williamstown on the radio and the Net!

Juice misses another shot. They've called him Matthew, Ross and just stopped short of calling him Bert. Unbelievable. -

Wow. I wonder if the bloke who broke it is still conscious? Lethal broke a point post from memory... What a softie... In the VFL they knock down the big sticks. -

Half time... Sandy 9.5 - 59 Willy 7.8 - 50 Willy came back there in the last 10 minutes. Before then the Sandy side hadn't taken their opportunities. Robbo with 3, Sautner 2, Garland, Pickett, Newton and Hughes. A LOT of players drifting n and out of the game. Pickett's influence was devastating early, but he may have gone off. Poyas, Gallagher been strong. LOTS of players in the bests. The MFC listed players looking the strongest on the ground. When they rest, we struggle... -

Juice and Robbo miss easy shots... Robbo then kicks his third. The 3 forwards slaughering them, midfield on top, running defenders doing heaps, Big Bad Bustling Benny Holland getting plenty of frees. Zebras smashing them, but should be further up. Willy have the cattle to get back here, and are shooting towards the scoring end. -

They said on MFC.com that Brock has been given one more week off. -

Sandy up at quarter time... 5.3 - 33 to Willy 1.1 - 7 Robbo has 2, Juice, Sauntner and Garland I think have 1 each. Poyas dangerous, Robbo BOG so far, Pickett VERY prolific, Bizzell in the play a fair bit... I'm missing a few but there's heaps of players looking devastating... -

JUICE!!! Gives away a free for climbing all over the back of Richards. Richards tries to pass it short, and Juice backs up a chase-down with another chase-down, gets the free, advantage to Sandringham, Goal to Sauntner. -

Juice is playing, had an early useful touch but is playing up the ground. And why not? Robbo dribbles through a second, and is sounding dangerous... commentators very excited by his work. -

Garland an early goal. Robbo very prolific early. Finding it hard to keep a hold of the footy, and kick straight. But he is flying apparently, and got a soft free and kicked a goal... -
On the MFC website, there's a poll asking the fans who they want to see debut next... I was fascinated by the results so far... Buckley - 33% Frawley - 31% Neville - 19% Newton - 17% Alright fair enough, Buckley showed some good form in the pre-season and has had the fans calling for his inclusion all year. Frawley was our top selection in the draft. I get those two. But Neville beating Newton? There's been PLENTY said in many forms of the media about Newton for him to be pumped up more than this by the fans, whereas Neville has done little (though not entirely his fault).

I know. I hate being a dees supporter and never having our team get anywhere NEAR the recognition it deserves. In the Hun votes for every match(1-5), if we win, we get about 3 players in there, and rarely get the BOG. If we go ok, but lose by a small margin we get NO-ONE in the top 5, and if we THRASH the other team, having the top 10 players on the ground, they STILL find room for an opposition player.... In fact, we have to win by over 100 points to be assured of all the votes from 5-1. But in this case, classy, I don't think we really can complain. Apart from that side being generally ridiculous, we don't have a SOO player in the current MFC side, going on our first 7 rounds. Usually I botch and moan, but in this case, I'd rather we find a few victories before spruiking the club. Not even Bruce. who's probably up there in our B&F is ANYWHERE NEAR selection in a state side... But in any case, Kudos for fighting the good fight.

The annoying thing there? Juice will be forced up the ground as Sautner and Robbo will play deep, with Garland likely to play too... hmmm. Oh well. Was looking forward to Juice kicking 5+ again as I am going hopefully.... Never mind. As long as it's one of Robbo and Juice.

To be honest the whole situation just makes me nervous. So if he convinces the club he belongs on the list from round 11 onwards, what are the possibilities... - He plays the last 11 rounds, makes little or no inroads into the senior side, is made a laughing stock, MFC try to trade him, can't as no-one's interested, and he's delisted... plenty of good players end their careers at 28. - He comes back into the side, and plays 2-5 good games, maybe in there one or two great ones, and the coaching department decide to play him for the full 11. He then has some trade value, and we offload him for a third or fourth rounder. - As above, but the club keep him on the list for 2008. Then what? He'll have 2008 and maybe 2009 to make fools out of MFC. Is just being pinged for a late night [censored] up enough to make him come round a la Steve Johnson? Like I said, the whole situation makes me nervous. The middle one of the two scenarios above interests me. If he could play good enough footy for us to use him in a trade, then maybe it would be worth it. In the best case scenario, he comes back and goes out a champion by playing 44 games in the next two years, we're STILL no more likely to win a flag. Even IF he is kept on, 2 years is a LONG time for him to be on his best behaviour, not get drunk or overweight, not get old-man injuries and not get suspended. As he's shown a propensity to do ALL these things on a startlingly regular basis despite being considered a great footballer, I doubt there'd be any ironclad reason to keep him on. Odds are the club would only be embarrassed again. After all, he may be just doing this so he can be assured of another couple of pricey contracts... and what happend when he draws to the end of the next one? Will he play it out with pride? Does he even give a stuff about MFC? Would a draft choice in the 60s care more? I'll be watching this with interest. One thing about Byron, he's not boring.

yeah, Valenti's a gun. But I'm concerned about his height. We've already got guys like Davey and Jones in the starting 18. If he got on the end of it, he'd be VERY valuable. It's just the first part.

Bruce kept up with Griffin, who's greased lightning. That said, Griffen did have possession, and Cam was at his absolute limit for pace.

What a schmuck I am. Deleted the offending post. Caught me on a bad day. Have PM'd you. Cheers mate.

Voss preparing for coaching & Lot to learn, Vossy
Dappa Dan replied to Finks's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree, but then the alternatives to Voss aren't many... When everything settles and MFC has looked at all options there may not BE a better option than Voss... -
Brisbane and especially Adelaide are the ones that impress me, just for sheer weight of numbers... Personally I don't entirely agree that our injuries are an excuse... but... I am comfortable with what the media has said regarding the reasons for our failure, even if only because it gets them off our back, and gives the few fans we have a break at the office. I do agree that our season was irreperably harmed by the injuries we copped, HOWEVER... I can't see why all these other clubs were able to remain competitive... in some cases more than competitive, and we weren't able to get within 8 goals of some of them in games that were played at our home turf. The problems, as we all know, run deeper than our injury list.

There's a half-a-dozen footy clubs over in Japan (and yes, I do mean footy... REAL footy. The kind where the ONLY way to score a goal is with your foot). If someone were to get them organised, it could make a small difference. And for some of the Japanese people, a membership is pocket-change... TELEVISING the game, and getting it watched over there like baseball... now THAT would change the face of Aussie rules forever.

Not exactly adding to your reliability here as sauce... O'Donnell will never coach an afl side. Career AC.

I like it.... A lot. And if Bell goes ok, maybe we can make it his yearly appointment? And if he doesn't, which is more likely, JMac can take over and at least keep Judd to 30 possessions.

Just on Footy classified, Davey was given the maximum 5 by both coaches. Brad Johnson was next, followed by Sylvia and Trav, then after that was another Bulldog... can't remember who. West probably.

And what are the knowns exactly? That our list can't win a flag? That Daniher hasn't got what it takes? That we're just unlucky? What has playing the percentages got us so far? An ok list. But not one good enough to win a flag. Besides, we all throw the dice trying to get a six. The Eagles rolled one dice, and rolled a seven, just about. We've rolled a couple of dice, in some cases we've thrown a 1 (Molan), in others a 3 (Sylvia) and in another a 6 (McLean). It may be more prudent to work the knowns. Here's what we know. - We're not going to win the flag in 2007. - The media, public, MFC fans in general and everyone else believe that the injuries we've sustained are to blame, and maybe a bit of Daniher as well. Axe Daniher and start next year with a fresh list and good pickups... what's the harm in that? The club won't be harmed by a bad season, at least no more than it already has. With a good and expansive list we have a chance in the next 10 years IF, and I can't stress IF enough, we recruit 1-3 superstars SOMEHOW. You think being nice, and coming 9th for a few seasons will get us there? No. We HAVE to roll the dice sometime if you're SERIOUS. ROLL THE DICE... NOT tank. Our season is shot. What do we stand to gain by winning ten games? Pride? Instead, maybe ask yourself what do we stand to lose by winning them. If it turns out Kreuzer is the next Franklin, or pick 3 is the next Judd, what will we think then? In 5 years, 2007 will be a long forgotten memory, and the club will still be here, and will more than likely be in DESPERATE need of a legend of the likes of Barrassi. All of you can stick around hoping that our resident genius CAC will recruit him at pick 8 or more. I'm hoping he'll get the chance at the end of this year at pick 2, 3 or 4, because it's simple. The odds are, we'll do better with that early a pick. Also, for those of you who are so keen he gets another Kerr/Petterd in the second round, consoder this. If we lose enough games we DO get a priority pick just before the second round. For example if we come 15th with 4 wins and the team that comes 14th gets more than 5, we get pick 2, 18 and 20. (Assuming the Blues don't win less than 5, as that will guarantee them a round one priority)
