  1. Watching Carlton now. [censored] they are bad.
  2. I think we are 2 goals a quarter better. That’s 48 point margin if we play 4 quarters. Line by line we are a much better squad. The only thing that will beat Melbourne today is...Melbourne.
  3. This. Our press was being sucked too high up the ground and we were simply murdered over the back. We have fixed this, and the defensive setup looks a lot better. I think the issue is offensive more than defensive. We don't look to use the additional space effectively by changing lanes or using width. The MCG may as well have been 20m wide (the members wing boundary to half way to the centre square) for the Cats, Hawks and Richmond games. We simply found no way to get out of this channel and could not attack with any speed or style. Richmond and hawthorn both stationed players inside when they were out, and outside when they were in, so they could use width to split the press. We don't do this, we just play 'stacks on' the contest. Whilst the endeavour is fine, the lack of MCG performance shows that there is some nous (even nuance) missing from our gameplan.
  4. It’s not about Viney as much as about the team. If there is any problem, at VFL he can be put on ice and there are enough warm bodies and the stakes are not so high. If he plays 60, 70% and kills it, all good. But to get match touch after 6 months out of the game and allow him to be held back if he pulls up sore is both great risk management and in the interests of the team. It also means no travel, and sets a benchmark about team first thinking. If It was only about Viney, we would rush him back before he is ready and open him up to a poor first game, and the potential of reinjury. Remember that?
  5. I like what you did there....
  6. No, that would not be my logic. Past performance at the ground means what, exactly? Kicking 5 against the suns (who had a different coach, different players and a different system) means what? These two things would be very low on my list of considerations in selecting the team. Can he play a role? Will he play that role? Is he in form? Does he deserve to be there more than the alternates? He was dropped. If he has done what he needs to do, then consider him. To consider him because he did something in the past or done something at some geographic location really is flawed thinking. The sort of stuff I would expect of Mark Neeld, not Goodwin.
  7. This is terrible logic. What about the time Jakovich kicked 13? Bring him back, too! the fact that he has had poor form recently has to be the main consideration, not an aside. We should gift games to no one, ever. Jeffy back in when he has earned it.
  8. Joe has a face only a rimmer could love. no comparison. We have something special in Hogan. Essendon have someone who thinks he is special in Daniher. There is the difference.
  9. Hunt stays up. ANB is line ball. Garlett as travelling emergency- is he back in time? All depends on Salem and Viney.
  10. If they start calling people out for staging half of the Geelong team will be reported every week. it is the umpire that blew the free that should be questioned, not the player. also, it is not in a Hogan’s interests to go to ground there. His interest is getting in position for the kick in. in the martial arts we teach it is more effective to use an open hand to strike the throat like this and used properly, a low impact strike can have devastating consequences. carlisle is lucky, as the strike carries severe risk. hogan’s response was appropriate. commentators can find something else to be outraged about
  11. I like the idea of giving him more time and space on the outside, and if Viney gets back in and under (with Clarry, Angus, Salem and Jones), then more time and space could make him even better. He can still rotate through the contest. a few awful moments (hospital handballs, taking on the tackler, etc), but lots of good in yesterday’s game.
  12. The are running and gunning. We are watching.
  13. That is both clever and insightful.
  14. Would be great if a few of you would get a room, and get back on topic. Kicking the crap out of each other on this forum may seem like fun (or make you feel good), but enough already! I like reading posts of most of the people that are on Demonland, but this constant back biting and spitball throwing stuff is tiring. If it is not this thread, then you guys will go at it in another. Cant you decide to have one free hit each and then get over it?
  15. Makes me think of Nassim Taleb (of the 'black swan' effect). Randomness suggests that the good run is just a coincidence series. When they crash, they can crash hard and if this is one of the key reasons they have been successful, then the 'crash' can be a wipeout for them. Consider long term injuries to Rance, Martin, Cotchin and Reiwoldt in one weekend. It is as possible as their good run continuing. Perhaps we are better being near the mean - which we may be approaching after our good run - and being able to cope by having functional depth. Also, games lost does not reflect the quality of the games lost. Would you prefer a game lost to Viney or to Maynard? To Gawn or to King?
  16. Its funny, isn’t it? We stick with the Tigers for 3 1/2 quarters and get blown away in the end. The third quarter was some of the toughest pressure football by two teams I have seen in ages. Wrist slashing and the narrative is how bad the Dees are Pies stick with them for 3 quarters and get blown out at the end and ‘they are back’. Tigers are a benchmark. Hate the way the industry panders to the pies and the dons.
  17. The poor dog would get some form of venerial disease from him
  18. They should have fined Daniher $2000 for being a hairy [censored] rimjob face with no talent. Sorry, AA forward and mark of the year recipient. Sheesh, why do they suck up so hard to these scummy scabbed over day old cream pies?
  19. I think it was the elbow to the head front on in the marking contest? Could have killed him, but Bernie played nice. $2000 love tap.
  20. I would say bananas, but that would be rude.
  21. Professional umpires would be a welcome addition to the game.
  22. There are sellers and there are buyers in the market of ‘hope’, also in the market of ‘despair’. this forum is like schizophrenics anonymous. 1/2 time in round six and you want someone to give you hope. My god, man. You are no Winston Churchill.
  23. Over rated. I would call him a spud, but that is tough on the humble potato. Ugly, dumb and believes he is schpeessshaall....
  24. Thought Hunt blazed away and wasted possession. He had footspeed, but he either has to do better, or go back.
