  1. It is expected to SNOW in Alice on Saturday. Yep, here is the model. Can’t yet see the forecast for Sunday, but we should have no talk of extreme heat or humidity around this game!

Too bad Stef Martin in no longer at the club.. Ashcroft and Martin - regrow your own hair!
  3. Often times we look for a deeper option, so the closer option can become a defender as we roll up the ground if there is a turnover. We often kick over a leading player to a deeper contest (it frustrates me to bits) but maybe that is the team rule?
  4. A good first 3 quarters where the game was pretty even. In the last we pushed too high and didnt have the legs to run back. Post-bye/loading impact? Conditions set the tone, and made it even more fatiguing, who was the [censored] from Geelong the pushed an obviously injured Viney back to the ground early on? We were outmarked in the last, and they just kept forward speed on the ball. Kicking off the ground and getting it moving fast at all costs. We were out of gas. Some players had very average contributions. Must be a few spots in the side now open if there is anyone in the twos who can step up.
  5. Swallow? Really?
  6. I was explaining to Frau Nekkid that she is welcome to join me on the couch for the TV coverage (including any half time jollies), on elf the rare games I will watch from home. I was explaining to her that GMHBA stadium is unfit to hold cattle, let alone an AFL game. Basically chop a third off one side of the ground because there is a road there, and pretend it is up to standard. Frau N will barrack for Maxxi (her favourite) and will sing the song if we win. Otherwise she will take off to less touchy freely parts of the chateau.
  7. Perhaps it has something to do with how players have responded to (or been able to complete) increased workloads during this period? Bowey would not have been able to do anything so might be on a program as we speak, same for Oliver. Maybe Tommo hasn’t pulled up as he might have needed to to get in the squad, but Petty has had the time to put in the Kms, and is therefore a better option to cover Cameron????
  8. There is something in the rules that only 2 bids can be matched in the first round, i understand GCS have 3 such players likely to be first rounders this year, so can only match 2 if that happens.
  9. What a weird, stupid place. Like the coach and half the players
  10. Two strikes???
  11. I copped a spray from a ten year old at the station on my way in, under the watchful eye of filth father. Just walked on by. As Whitney would say “i believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way.” this little [s] will grow up into a right [c] at this rate.
  12. What a game. The crowd noise was much improved for the Dees this week, and Goody even acknowledged it. By half time I was satisfied with what we were doing - we were showing a finals level of intensity and even with terrible goal kicking, we were well and truly in it. We were dominant from about half way through the first quarter until time on in the last. A couple of questions: 1. Spargo - subbed out, will he now have to go back to Casey? 2. Brayshaw - big hand in at least 3 of their goals by turnover /poor decisions and delivery. What is his value to the squad if he cost us nearly half the opposition score? Could JJ be a better replacement? 3. Tommo played great - in the RIGHT role. As Second tall, he allows may and lever to get to work. Where then for Petty? 4. Not too many pushed their case at Casey. Who do you think will get a debut this year? Thanks for the great podcast, and go the mighty Dees!
  13. Let the talk be about the filth. The game went as i expected, except for the poor goal kicking. Even at half time i was happy, because I was watching us put the sort of defensive effort that will win finals. Nice to get the points and hose out the filth, but in the scheme of things I hope the narrative stays on them and we can just keep taking care if business.
  14. Let’s just go harder for longer. Pressure the fancy overlap, win contest and clearance. They are vulnerable on the turnover. Let’s smash them so they know what it looks like. All this floss about the filth. Let’s hose out the cage!! Dees by 13 points
  15. If we win i will make a solid donation toi MND. If we dont…i probably still will…
  16. I think he is playing the ‘west coast’ talk ‘em down strategy to improve our draft hand…..
  17. Interesting take, I would also like to hear your thoughts on this.

(Joke already made. My attempt now as wet as the joke…)
  19. Defence wins finals. I am much happier giving away a lower score than other teams - like the cats, that played ping pong most of the night. I think this was why Goody was rapt with the result and why I was very happy with what we did. The blues players went hard, but we went harder. Still significant upside is available in our gameplan, in our key players and structures. I think we will win against the pies due to our defence and pressure. I would welcome your insight into Collingwood’s defensive structures and how we should play to defeat them. eg two extra at contests etc.
  20. What if the VAR reviews the act and issues a red card. Player is immediately subbed out of the game. If sub has already happened then bad luck, also subbed with no replacement. Seems to align with current processes. Should only be used where VAR feels case goes immediately to tribunal (not just across mr Christian’s desk).
  21. DeGoey, goin’, gone! we can win if we bring our defensive game. That and stopping the poor turnover skills under no pressure. oh, and kick straight

    CATS VS DOGS PING PONG
  23. Best bit of the quarter was when the BT of Southport was turned off for a few minutes.
  24. Oh, and the umpiring, my goodness it was terrible!
  25. My take: It was a hard contested game, played hard by both squads. We hit th e contest harder than they did (big positive) and won the clearances and contested ball numbers. We kept them to a ridiculous first half score, so the defensive stuff was pretty good. Max had a bad game - took some marks but some of his giraffe kicks were awful, Lucky he kicked that goal to redeem himself. Poor goal kicking tonight, the trend continues. A lot to like in JVR, McVee, lingers and hunter. May did an excellent job and Trac was sublime. Happy to take the4 points and move onto next week. The defensive side if our game was very good tonight, so if we can being that next week and straighten up our goal kicking and transition work, we stand a red hot chance to dack the filth.
