My personal shout for a potential pick ups are: Connor Rozee(SA), Jackson Hatley(SA), Jordan Clark(WA), Zak Butters(VIC), Luke Valente(SA). Valente, Butters and Hatley are all mids. Rozee is a half forward-mid hybrid and Clark is a half back flank with great rebound ability. Rozee, Hatley and Clark will probably go in around the picks 8-12 mark so if we had a pick availble we could nab one or if we decided to not trade for May or another FA we could pay overs and get any 2 we wanted really.
wouldn't go near sa or wa boys based upon our history of holding onto them
that's IF a hogan trade happens

denham seems to report EVERY YEAR that hogan is leaving
you don't need to read it @Superunknown
it's just all speculation with lots of ifs, maybes, and perhaps
no actual quotes other than jesse saying 'i'm happy at the dees' from when he signed in october, 2016

a player can't 'break' his contract
he either gets traded, as per his request, or remains a gc17 player til next year, when he'd be a restricted free agent - same as lynch - as he's in the top portion of paid players
gc17 are in a HUGE mess
all the projections over the last 5 years have had may and lynch as their bookends for that time AND next five years
scrimshaw will end up at the peptides as well, i think, and whilst he hasn't come on at all (few have; andrew swallow is their nathan jones the way things are going, yet touk miller will be their next skipper) he was super-highly rated at the time, they used pick 7 on him, now they might be lucky to get pick 47 for him

Just checking Jesse's resume - he was actually named as the All Australian under 18 CHB in 2012 - as an underage 17YO! So I don't think he would have any trouble filling that role for Melbourne. Occasional stints in the midfield notwithstanding....
named there, but certainly played games at u/18 champs at chf
like when pav played forward all year one year but was still named all oz full back

Interesting the talk of Jesse going 'home'. Where exactly is that?
He's lived in Melb for last 6 years.
His mother lives in Melb
Much of his family live in SA
His closest bunch of mates are at MFC
I'm not sure supporting Freo as a kid counts as a lure anymore.
adelaide supporter growing up

i believe crows are the only team, thus far, to be happy to match and thus force a trade - they got pick 9 (milera), pick 28 (on traded alongside kerridge in a truly awful trade for troy menzel) plus dean gore for dangerfield and pick 50
don't forget that if a team does match and a trade then can't be organised, the player goes into the open draft or the psd, where they can put a price on their head
but if hogan was available at 26 turning 27 going into 2022, you can't tell me that whoever holds pick 1 that year wouldn't snap him up

god that roar website is trash
what part of 'not a free agent' do these keyboard warriors not understand?
even if he WAS - which he won't be until he enters his eighth afl season, in 2021 - he would be a restricted free agent, enabling us to have the option of matching and / or forcing a trade
if - and it's a big IF - he chooses to leave after 2021 and having played in back to back to back premierships (having missed out in the first run of four in 2018) then we won't lack for compensation options for a approaching 27 year old gun mobile key forward

This article is a joke.
I think we all know he will move to WA as all players go home eventually but it will be on the terms of if the club starts to rebuild or we trade him because he is underperforming.
he lives in melbourne, and has done for six years
his mother now lives here
the majority of his family live in adelaide
where's 'home'?

i'm thinking more historically, of course, with the likes of farmer, that traitorous so-and-so scott thompson, etc.
stretch and viney are father-sons, and the latter is basically a vic boy - only lived in sa for, what, three years?
