  1. may is a liability because he gets suspended at least once a year

5 weeks last year, from memory, and already a couple this year

he's a thug, yet a thug that will cost a team high picks:

moore - from pies to sydney for pick 10ish
may - from gc17 to pies for pick 10, second rounder
pick 2 - from gc17 to adelaide for a fringe player, pick 8 and whatever our pick ends up being (say pick 12-14ish)
lynch - to richmond as a free agent, gc17 get pick 2 as compo

carlton will pick walsh with pick 1 and crows will get lukosious with pick 2

gc17 will hold picks 2, 8, 10, and pick 12-14ish and be granted a compo at the end of their first round for being appalling (brisbane got previously; afl will always protect their northern states investments) as well as two second round picks - they already traded their own to freo as part of the weller trade

    they're in complete re-build mode

if we do have to match (Like Danger did for Adelaide) I wonder if we can throw Perth origin Jeffy Garlett in as a sweetener (with Tyson + picks). He's getting older, but he'll give them 3 or 4 years of high quality small forward craft i'd have thought. Looks disinterested (in body language) as a demon right now.

i don't think west coast would want tyson or garlett, and i doubt picks that we will be able to offer them (e.g. this year's second rounders that we hold) will do them much good

they'll either keep gaff or let him walk and use the compo pick, either as a trade or as an actual pick

the general story today seems to be that they're keeping him and mcgovern and lycett, which seems remarkable - some speculation is that most of nic nat's 2019 payments can go into the injury payments, so they get some salary cap relief there, and then he's only contracted til end of 2020 i believe, and obviously won't be paid at the same ratio as current as he'll have missed three prime years of his football life with knee knacks - i'm sure he'll still be on $1m or thereabouts, but in terms of 2021-24 pay that'll be lower portion of cap to his current remuneration

Restricted FA. Should WCE match what he is offered elsewhere, a trade must be done, or he goes into draft for Carlton to snaffle up. Most clubs would trade beforehand IMO, like Cats/Danger

    Meth Coke won’t match tho

They’ll take their compo pick and trade it for Kelly from Geelong

Me to offer him anything from 800 -900 5 year deal plus 1 or two of our NQR to secure the deal!

But we wont coz we aren't relentless enough!!

we don't have to offer anything other than cash

    he's a free agent

The biggest problem with Taylor is his obsession with drafting / recruiting small and medium sized forwards at the expense of genuine midfielders. Tyson is pretty much the only midfielder we have at Casey, so we are in a world of trouble if we lose another midfielder to injury in the next month. Oliver was the last midfielder we brought in and that was almost three years ago. I think we should be taking a midfielder in every draft. Other than that, and the Weideman debacle, he has done a very good job.

    eh?

tyson, toumpas (failure), viney, oliver, brayshaw - all 'pure' mids

and weideman is NOT a debacle

  6. If he could weed out those shocker short kicks and indiscriminate long bombs he’d be having a ripper season

I know that the talk is Freo is into him, but I believe North have made him their next major money target

Great another inside mid as if we don't have enough already. Tyson can't get a game and we want to bring in Hannebury bazaar move.

Are we deliberately trying to be the slowest team in the comp? It's Gaff or nothing for mine.

    gaff or dalhaus for mine

  8. 2021, just using our current list, plus gaff?
    B: Jetta - O Mac - Petty
HB: Hunt - Lever - Hibberd
    ? Gaff - Brayshaw - Salem
HF: Petracca - Hogan - Fritsch
    F: Weideman - T Mac - Melksham
Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney
    I/c: Harmes - Spargo - Tyson - ANB
Emerg: Stretch - Hannan - Ginger Ninja - Filipovic

of course that's completely unlikely  given players will inevitably come and go, and form will wax and wane, not to mention debilitating injury etc

and who knows how sides will change their structure once the anti-density netball rules come in

  9. I’d like to keep Tyson and get Gaff in, personally

I still think Tyson can be vital to our future side make up (Vince, Lewis and Jones could all be gone by the end of 2020, although Jones may play on), and Gaff would be a fantastic addition

It just adds more depth to the side

2021 could see, possibly, four of our best 25 currently players gone; those three listed above plus Jetta, who’ll be 31 by the time 2021 rolls around - more if someone like a Hogan declares he wants to go back to WA, or ANB to SA, or even if a Brayshaw gets an offer they can’t refuse at the end of this year - who knows, North may throw their war chest at him now

Ideally I’d like to build and grow our side, and the best thing about Gaff joining the side is he costs us nothing other than salary cap space
