  1. smith will only be entering his 11th season ahead of the 2021 season his age is not relevant imo; look at the mileage in his legs not the grey in his air
  2. josh kelly + jarman impey = dom tyson + christian salem + jayden hunt dom tyson = brayden preuss + marty hore preuss = ?
  3. i tell you one thing, he should be a nice and cheap supercoach first choice ruck in 2021
  4. would take their future second round pick

fwiw i have no problem offering smith 3 if it means he joins us he started late in footy - debuted as a 21 year old? - so doesn't have the wear and tear of a kid who has been playing professionally since he was 18 he's not lost his pace, and his injuries - of the very few he's had - have not been soft tissue but instead collision concerns, like his shoulder this year would be be in our starting 18? 100% he costs us nothing other than salary cap too as he's an unrestricted free agent which means if he signs with us he simply walks out on hawthorn...and it's always nice to see players walking out on hawthorn the fact that they've offered him two years straight up shows that they still really rate him too
  6. no offense to us as a club, but being footy manager would be a significant step down if anything, he'd be a logical fit to head up the aflpa
  7. peptides the faves to land him this morning according to some
  8. old rules afl got rid of that one a few seasons back when, i think it was, fyfe got suspended after a succession of fines
  9. no guarantees there i don't reckon hub footy a big chance for a second run around
  10. weideman will have to play at chf
  11. i've read nothing to say that our offer was higher than the cats where is that little tidbit from? i'm ecstatic he stayed you don't want to lose your best players, particularly not to that taxpayer funded mob
  12. agree with @D4Life if we could land polec and brown in the one fell swoop while giving up little it would be just enough rejuvenation and continuation to our list to add something to the mix for 2021 ultimately no idea how we'd afford it without shedding more than preuss, t mac, o mac, not to mention satisfying north as a trade you wouldn't see two second rounders getting it done; hawks' high second and our future second plus t mac could make the most sense, possibly?
  13. i don't think fitness is an issue with gus; he just picks and chooses when to go late in a game, running i50 to present to get a mark and a shot on goal? works his legs to get there blocking defensively in the d50 to allow others to make the easy exit? stands flatfooted and doesn't impact the contest
  14. geez, that's cheap as chips for a multiple 60+ a year goalkicker who has had one poor year compare with cameron, he's a positive bargain
  15. who has just gone through an extraordinary season and now has the chance to return to the city in which his kids reside and be paid more than the remaining two years at a reduced rate that we'll be able to pay everyone in the footy dept will be expected to take a pay cut to help accommodate the soft cap - arguably that renders the existing contracts null and void i hope like hell we can hold him to his deal but at the same time i can see reasons why he would want out

  19. aren't nga advantages being removed?

razor bouncing it off centre AGAIN he should not be allowed to take the centre corridor for decision making or at least not bounce it after a goal etc
  21. according to footywire: obviously their new recruits like jones aren't actually out of contract - weird that they're listed
  22. barassi going from melbourne to carlton ahead of 1965 is when i think of the beginning of the professional era, really, where career and opportunity to make bank began to take a priority - he was leaving a premiership side and one of greatest clubs of all time over the previous decade for further opportunity and coin barassi, stewart, etc. all lead the way for the formation of the aflpa and significant player movement good history here: http://www.aflplayers.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/All-In_Computer-Edition.pdf
  23. not comparing them to o mac; comparing them to jackson we've got 250+ games out of two players who were selected in the 50s - that's amazing if we now trade oscar for anything below a fourth rounder we'll have got 'worth' out of him i complete understand why the coaches persevered with him - we didn't have anyone else to play the role of key defender - the minute we did we added lever and then may he's been a durable and occasionally effective player; his bro even more so i personally think he'll get a go at another club and given his relative youth could definitely see him playing for another six to eight seasons; alternatively he might only last another three if he gets replaced by someone better a team like hawthorn could do worse than look at him as defensive coverage, something that they arguably lack i would thoroughly enjoy seeing frost and o mac running around together again, and personally would wish them all the luck in the world other than against us
  24. or malthouse who pushed josh fraser to start straight away (200 games) or buckley who did the same to brodie grundy (second best ruckman of his generation)
  25. de googs wants to get de paid
