  1. what did the gap used to be? i remember seeing a few vfl / afl reserves games back in the late 80s and early 90s and it was never anything quite like that sort of gap between the magoos and the seniors
  2. disposal awful
  3. if baker could kick he'd be a helluva footballer
  4. so that's two presidents to confirm their clubs will oppose i can't see it happening
  5. those numbers are - for the most part - fine for a workrate half-forward based on what i've seen of him in the vfl via c7 or afl.com.au broadcast, i'd like to see him lift defensively - doesn't apply much pressure at this stage of his journey nicely skilled tho
  6. +1 reminds me of (jared) rivers with how composed he is for one so young
  7. poms lead by 9 runs after first innings at lords could be a match-winning lead on this pitch 20 wickets in a day and an hour amazing
  8. let tim lamb and jason taylor do their thing...
  9. footscray? crom gc17 us? filth? dockers? should be a fairly interesting mini-round
  10. sorry, yes, 1/3 majority to kill it off completely i reckon their goose is cooked historicity counts cats also may not have survived if they'd not been situated in a swinging seat at both state and federal level and had smart business people making sure they got every govt handout they get get their grubby little mitts on
  11. essentially, the afl commission is taking a recommendation from clubs as to whether or not tasmania should get a license - they need a minimum of a two-thirds majority of the clubs to support it - i.e. at least seven of the 18 clubs (i.e. one-third plus one) would be required to vote in favour of their entry however, gilligan has already said that he wouldn't take it to the commission to be voted on unless there was mass consensus and support for the entry of a new team; last it was rumoured to be only tony cochrane at gc17 who was going to vote negative to it, but i would argue that if tassie are asking for a provisional license then they think they're cooked and they might not even get the seven being supportive to ratify it
  12. to me, this tends to indicate that they know they're not getting full club support to come in which means, in all likelihood, the notion of a tasmanian team is cooked
  13. left out as he's injured for the next 6 weeks, i presume?
  14. similiarly, colin sylvia (rip) was only ever one pre-season away from breaking out...
  15. no, it's not; 4-6 is the running joke!
  16. don't think either dogga or sideshow bob have been the same since they had covid
  17. vote won't count but fwiw i would've gone with... 6: oliver 5: jordon 4: viney 3: gawn 2: brayshaw 1: spargo
  18. from the bits and bobs i saw, tomlinson and turner pretty solid down back, baker's workrate is afl-level (and kicking is qafl-level), woewodin and deakyn smith look likely types, both amz and laurie pretty quiet, and an afl club should use a mid-season draft selection on corey ellison be interesting to see who returns next week, cos other than tomlinson and to a lesser extent turner no one really put their claims on a role in the afl side
  19. whatwhat say what replied to rpfc's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
sound reverberates in a colosseum i reckon we were very, very quiet what with us being, well, ordinary

so much for 'sold out' 29k was about 10k more than i was expecting tbh - terrible time for most on a cold melbourne day - and i'd guess that there was nowhere near 1000 freo fans there...i of course took one of them before heading out together for the evening sigh
  21. gw$ up and about under McVeigh* *slobbo column tomoz: ALL HIRD 14 goals in a quarter at the gabba; i love watching games like this where i know these days that the dees simply wouldn't allow it to happen
  22. that's not going to happen - all decisions will be made under gil's watch as such, his replacement MUST come from inside the boys' club nothing ever changes at afl house
  23. gone from a hater to a lover of milkshake hope he has a ripsnorter today
  24. i was one of those anti-milkshake haters during his first season with us but it was when he was shifted from half-back to half-forward that i became a HUGE fan - think it was defensive effort on jj in the game in which lever did his knee at the docklands carpark that made me admire his workrate, and the goal off two steps in the final vs hawthorn that made me love him hope he has a ripsnorter today
