Question.  Is there any club that makes their players drive over an hour to get to training sessions at Cranbourne or sometimes 90 minutes in heavy traffic.  Not sure it’s favourable compared with Cats, Bombers, Pies, Blues training arrangements.  Caulfield would be a perfect location.  Make it happen and like Geelong, made the state government pay for it !!!!

joe daniher drives 2+ hours to go from byron bay, where he lives, to brisvegas

Boy, you’re just a fountain of positivity aintchya Bud?! You seem to have a problem with Cat. B rookies: first KFW, now Fullarton. At least wait until they’ve played even one AFL game for us before you start sending out your usual failure vibes.

fullarton is a senior list player, not a cat b rookie i thought?

Interesting that no matches to be played there which puts Casey firmly into play for VFL etc

four ovals plan remains the key for us

two at caulfield, two at casey

I think Petty is massively overrated on here. The club would be locked up for not taking picks 4 and 23 should they be offered.

it's not about 4 and 23 - which is likely to become something more like 7 and 30 - it's about how do you replace a player of his ilk - a 25 year old tall who can hold down a key role forward or back, and be part of a premiership-winning defensive set-up

    easier said than done

If Turner comes on and pick 4 and 23 can become pick 1 or 2 we can potentially pick up the next Petracca or Oliver. That extends our window. This club cannot afford to drop down the ladder whilst teams 19 and 20 come in. You watch what’s about to happen to Richmond

we'd need to replace a 25 year old key forward / premiership winning back with something of a similar ilk

that's why crom are offering petty a small fortune; his like don't exactly grow on trees

i remain hopeful that he'll be offered commensurate with his importance to the side beyond 2025 and will stay with us; we need him to do so

  6. pick 4 and 23 provides zero value for us compared to a swingman 25 year old premiership player

we are in 'win now' mode and taking a player like petty out of our best 23 does NOT help us do so

Yeo despises the Dees. Would never happen.

    why?

i'm sure no hatred a 4 year contract for a 30 year old couldn't assuage

Certainly feels like we're firmly in the 6-8 bracket doesn't it.

    not really!

    i feel like we're a 1-6 side personally

It's the compound effect of the two grueling away games in a 5 day period that got us (One of them was very warm from memory too?). A 9 day break from that would have been much needed.

Having said that after the bye I don't want to hear it again.

i expect we'll suffer from fatigue against the baggers on a thursday nite...

    - 13 days til Richmond
    - then 10 til cats
    - then 5 til baggers
    - then 10 til meth coke

having a 5 day gap between geelong and carlton match-ups is particularly strange imo

Giants not playing at their home stadium for 7 rounds in a row is madness

that's because it's used for the easter show

hence why they have home games in canberra during this time

I think it's a real shame that we haven't pursued Irish talent in 20 years. It's part of our heritage and for reasons that can't be explained we don't see the experiment as viable.

Quite often you see some very good kicks in these lads, something we could always use more of in the list.

it's incredibly costly from all reports

we might be better off than we were a decade ago, but we don't have the cash nor support staff to spend in the likes of these areas

Racking my brain to recall the last player swap, with no (significant) picks involved. 🤔

You can trade picks all the way up to and on draft night though? 6,11,12,15 and a future first, there’s no doubt we could’ve made some big plays with that, had a month to prepare it, probably would’ve made the eagles have a good hard think about trading pick 1

we wouldn't want picks, we'd want players

we're in 'win now' mode not 'plan for the future' mode

On the last day of trade Adelaide offered two first rounders, 11 and 15

    offer came way too late

we would've wanted to turn that into something else, and wouldn't have had the time to work a deal

    typical crom

It's nice to see that Binman can suggest on the podcast that we should have cashed in without being completely attacked or called a Judas.

I do worry about this foot, will know a lot more come mid year.

    the problem being there wasn't a cash-in

the offer was mcadam and pick 14, which ended up as pick 19, from memory

petty is worth more than that
