Yep. This is what caught my eye and triggered me to revive this thread. I'm curious why interstate clubs get to train on it, but not us. Would love to know the decision making process of deciding which clubs can use it and when.

same reason we get to train at the adelaide oval, or the scg, or the gabba, or our beloved perth stadium, when we're on the road

That’s what was announced. It’s since changed (as of this afternoon) and is no longer fully ticketed.

Tigs poor form must be hurting presale

I posted those areas above, the mcg will formally name the ga areas the day before the game on their website

I was under the assumption that Anzac Day Eve was a fully ticketed game?

100%? Great time to join the Gold Coast suns, that’s what I’d be doing

nope; not if he wants to play as a first choice ruckman any time in the next decade plus

ethan read will have that position locked by the time white is ready to roll

far better to come to the dees, learn from all-time great, and play for the side his old man was terrific for for years

  5. comparisons are meaningless, but...

roo's 2023 vs tex walker at same age in 2010:

    • 20 games vs 18
    • 174 vs 213 disposals
    • 28 goal 9 vs 35.28
    • 78.2% vs 59.6% disposal efficiency

roo's 2023 vs joe daniher at the same age in 2014:

    • 20 vs 21
    • 174 vs 274 disposals
    • 28 goal 9 vs 28.20
    • 78.2% vs 65% disposal efficiency

roo's 2023 vs charlie curnow at the same age in 2017:

    • 20 vs 21
    • 174 vs 297 disposals
    • 28 goal 9 vs 20.12
    • 78.2% vs 77.4% disposal efficiency

    compares pretty well for mine

I will again come to the defence of Luke Molan.
He never had an opportunity to show his wares due to a succession of unrelated serious impact injuries.  How many consecutive  games did he get at Sandringham who as I recall was our VFL affiliate at the time?
Nobody knows, seriously, if he could have been an even half decent player.

was he the player who went to take a screamer and managed to break his leg, do his acl, and knock himself unconscious in one fell swoop?

Conveniently after Suns have filled the treasure chest with multiple academy players; Lions with multiple F/S in the top 20.

It is definitely needed. The simple rule of having a pick in the round where the nomination is made avoids a club getting away with a stack of talent (ala Suns). That was an absolute steal for them last year.

not to mention having to have enough list spaces to use with the amount of picks that you have

when gc17 have 7 picks and only 3 list spaces, with 3 first-round academy picks to come in that they can conveniently cover with the 'value' of their plethora of 2nd and 3rd round picks, it's an absolute farce

Kanes had the perfect opportunity to take Christian threatened to resign over the Maynard debacle last year.

I can only assume the boys club stepped in.

Any boss in any organisation would normally take that tantrum and show him the door.

    Disgraceful

don't forget, laura kane IS part of the boy's club

He misses quite often later in matches.  Seems to start off ok.

Might be (one reason) why he's sitting on the bench or not in the starting 22 as often this season?

daniel's disposal efficiency and defensive workrate have plummeted in the last couple of years from his best seasons

it will be interesting to see where he sits going forward in the make-up of the dogs' side

How can a club extend a players contract if he was under an extensive concussion measurement program?

Murphy had 1 year to run extend out to 3 years. Knowing he wouldn't play again would love to know what sort of a pay rise they gave him to strengthen their bargaining power for a comp pick.

Very negligent of Collingwood and the AFL for allowing this to happen effectively ticking off on it to futher their case for compensation.

Very suspicious activity allowed to happen and the AFL and turned a blind eye to it all.

    compensation?

no club gets compensation when a player is forced to retire

  12. so it turns out the filth did give murphy a new deal at the start of this year to last til the end of 2025

in the little paper jon ralph is saying:

They will honour that deal, but given the AFL has indicated it will set a precedent over Angus Brayshaw’s long-term contract it will not cost them in the salary cap.

The Pies and Demons will be able to exempt all or most of the salaries of those players going forward so Murphy’s retirement will in fact clear cap space for the Pies going forward.

Oh the wailing media today makes me ill. We all feel sorry for Murphy but I don’t remember this level of angst when Gus was knocked out of his career

every media organisation talked about it for days

and eulogised him as a great player

we sure as hell miss him

  14. it was particularly funny, i thought, that the afl trade radio social post - which apparently is too big an image for me to share here? - asked where he'd be playing in 2024

i'mma take a wild stab in the dark and say...at gold coast?

    now, 2025, however...
