We were about 8-0 with Tiddles Ridley in '71.

I am saying that the grass roots underpinning of 'Australian rules' is what holds up football, not 'Head Office'.
-
And now we have the marketed fiction that AFL gives money to the clubs when in fact it is the clubs that give money to the AFL, and the grass roots which gives free and ongoing good will to the top tier competition. Without which it could not survive.

If we get the chocolates today BB will be 24 hours closer to Tulsa.

Looks like Josh Kelly's possible move south could work in our favour if a Hawthorn is looking to spend up. With clubs tight on salary cap this could work in our favour. With WCE Tigers Footscfay and Geelong seemingly having a lock on top positions why would a player like Clayton even consider leaving the red and the blue: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/8-million-man-or-homeward-bound-gws-star-josh-kelly-s-unique-choice-20210330-p57fce.html

I want to know what's wrong with Mars as a homeground if Earth becomes uninhabitable. You could play a given season there in hub format, for example. Several seasons could be trialled at Alice Springs to see if the idea has legs. Umpiring could be be by autonomous robot. And Kayo could chip in to subsidise cost of living adjustments.

That was in The Age a couple of days ago. i will have a look for the link.

Melbourne is one of the listed clubs whose salary cup is tight. So an Essendon or a Hawthorn could knock on his door with a mega-offer. So we have to basically have high finish to keep him, IMO.

Block out the fugazzi. -
The players are all mates any way, it's the spectators and social media you have to worry about.

I tried doing the home brew version at one time and the bottom of each bottle indeed was a briny sediment. Can't argue with 40 cents a bottle though.

I can't believe the love for Cooper's Pale Ale. Should be drinking Cooper's Stout after a win like this.

Simon Goodwin Interview SEN (17/3/21)

Who have been our rucking captains? Big Carl? Don Cordner. One of those two, probably Carl in this instance, could surely demonstrate some of the finer points of intimidation to Big Maxy? -
Whoever he hit won't be in good condition either.

A lot of the posters on here presumably wouldn't (either) take kindly to Ron Barassi's subterfuge in dumping Melbourne and taking his mojo to the navy blues. At the time RDB was multi-premiership captain, 1964 B and F, and the merchandising and promotional front of the club. Good luck to TS, it's only a game after all and he was chucked into what was a compulsory draft.

TRAINING: Friday 22nd January 2021

When and where do they train? -
If we win a flag with that as our home based we could rename it the Golly Gosh.
-
Yes they had Ron's signature as you describe. My parents sprung a surprise by delivering them to me at school on my birthday. I duly wore them around the school, cork stops and all. When we went overseas later that year they must have got chucked out. My next boots (about four years later, for under 12s) were Adidas lookalikes, with soft toes and low ankles!
-
I think Ron's steel-capped 'Ron Barassi' boots make all the difference. Still remember the pair I got for my 8th birthday.
-
Was this 65 yards?

Casey Shire is the demographic heartland of Melbourne anyway. The MCG is so 1964. Other things that are so 1964: 1. EH Holden with 179 motor. 2. Red smelly trains on the Dandenong line. 3. Two shillings for fish and chips (just guessing on that one) 4. Melbourne rampant in the finals. 5. Jimmy Nichols as fill-in drummer for The Beatles for part of Australian tour. 6. John Nicholls, 6 foot 2 ruckman. 7. Cassius Clay getting liniment rubbed in his eyes during Sonny Liston fight. 8. Brown paper bags (with money for Ron). 9. Getting the cuts. 10. The drop-kick.

Just what we need: some Barassi-style emotion.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
bush demon replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
A premier league player in UK quit last week/s citing social media trolling, and the toll it was taking on his life. There are far better ways to lighten up on supporter sites than these kind of personal attacks dressed up as online comedy. If BB proves a disappointment I guess we can expect more of the same. -

Truly pathetic. Why don't you take your 'presentation' directly to Tom (at a training night) instead of anonymously slurring him.
