  1. It wasn't that Trapper missed the goal, it was that he didn't pass the ball to Bradshaw. It was selfish. The MFC made the right Call last year. Sure i was sad, but if we are to win a flag-we Must trade Smartly. We got the Best out of TJ. And would he have made such a big difference in 2008?? No he wouldn't. We Are "Renovating" and must keep blooding kids.

I was so proud of the Team last week. We played some Top Football with a total "No name" Forward Line.

  2. With all the talk about the Gold coast and West Syd joining the AFL, Im on the Tassie bandwagon.

I think they deserve jumper along with the Gold Coast before West Sydney.

Taswegians love there footy and have contributed great players to the VFL/ AFL.

The Big Question is will Nasher or other Tassies change their support or barrack for 2 Teams.

We will all be old & deaf before tassie join the AFL. Taswegians already watch Footy on the TV. It is not a "new" Market as far as Fuhrer Demetrio is concerned. I don't agree but thats the reality

  3. At least Green and Davey can play which is more than what we know about pick 19 . Why trade a good player like Green to Carlton, they have had enough windfalls in the last couple of tanks.

It seems ridiculous that we are intent (well some of us are) on offloading our good players just to create a window down the track. Did we predict our Grand Final appearance in 2000 as a "Window"or what.

The Game is getting Faster every year, Green Bruce etc are getting older. Their value must be weighed up with what is on offer. Footy is a business and we as a club must start to fully take on this concept. Hey if the Deals aint great-NO Deal

  4. Green will be 33 and retired when our window opens. He is expendable if the deal is good enough.

Stop thinking about careers and start thinking about the club...and a flag.

Totally Agree-All players are expendable with the RIGHT Deal. Would Trapper have made so much difference to this year? Doubt it & we got a good draft pick for him.

Brad Green is Great and a possible captain, but we may get 1 or two guns for him. This Draft Has Tooo much Gold not to dig

  5. Collingwood had a 3 to 4 year period where they either traded for the window in 2002 and 2003 or they just drafted duds. The failures in those years are coming home to roost for the Pies.

Collingwood had there BIG chance Last year. They would have slaughtered Port Adel just like the HandBags. But The Pies Blew it. I was so so sad!!

  6. Our season is already "finished". We can't make the finals [2 games and 20% out of the 8 with 5 games to go].

With your last 3 games against WCE, Port Adelaide and Richmond, a win on Saturday could do you more harm than good.

    May the best team win.

The Saints Gave us the "Spoon" last week GOD BLESS THOSE HOPELESS SOULS. We can afford to win this week. Even the West Coke Eagles next week. Very Much doubt we shall win the last two rounds.

  7. I'm 23. So didn't have to deal with years in the wilderness but also have never seen a flag. Too young to remember 87 but would've loved to have been a part of it. I've watched the replay on tape of the last game out at the Western Oval thousands of times. I loved the bit when Brian Wilson chased a Footscray player all the way down the wing then it turned over and he ran all the way back with the ball and kicked the sealer. The commentator shouts 'Cover yourself in glory son!' and they show the crowd behind the goals and they're jumping around like it's the FA Cup final. The excitement around the club must've been amazing during that time.

As far as I'm concerned, in my time, 98 was the one that got away. Smashed Adelaide and St Kilda then went down to North on a cold, dewey friday night. If we'd got them on a fast track we would've beaten them. Then Adelaide won the flag after we'd beaten them by ten goals a couple of weeks earlier. Malcolm Blight said in an interview after the match that he was most worried about Melbourne.

I'm looking forward to the day Brock Mclean and Deano hold the premiership cup aloft.

Should probably do some work now...

I was behind those Goals when the crowd went ape droppings Harry (& they did!) "Cover yourself in glory son" Brian Wilson did that day- what a run. Listen closely in the Last Q. The geelong train goes by and blows its horn, and the crowd for a moment thought it was the siren- classic. 6 games on a saturday arvo. Bring it Back.....

  8. the thing about the GC Concessions is that the GC club gets a massive advantage obviously, but it won't be of any use to them for many years - and since the other 16 clubs are 'penalised' equally then there really is no change in the levelness of the playing field. GC won't be threatening anyone, so it just menas everyone else misses those first picks. So it all becomes about the REST of the picks.... people will just be talking about picks 6,7 and 8 like they are 1,2 and 3 and it will be out of us and the other battlers to see who gets the best talent with them

It's only the first five anyway, that probably means 2 or 3 sides will miss out on one gun each. It's not that much of a bombshell.

Good Point. There will still be a lot of talent out there. The Recruiting staff will have to be really spot on with judgements.

  9. i didn't know we ever had one ;)

for what it's worth, i'm an mcc member and a full mfc member who is considering chucking in the mcc membership my father put me down for when i born with ian ridley as a signee, because i don't need it with mfc membership.

Don't chuck in your MCC Membership. You will regret it when melbourne return to september action. As each year passes Furher Demetrio will make it more difficult and elite to purchase finals tickets. Its already Hard to make a GF.

  10. shane bourne? come on - you cannot be serious!! funny he aint and would add nothing!!

hamish is without doubt the funnyman of the duo and some of the pranks they have done, well....

good on the club for something left of centre....

Shane is actually a brilliant actor-sadly he is more remembered for his spots on Hey Hey. I have worked with him on a couple of ABC productions in the last 5-6 years. The more profile people we can get on board the better. Hamish is great, Know him from "Spicks"

  11. Must have been amazing to be at that game. I was living in Sydney at that stage but will never forget the feeling and excitement knowing that we were about to play finals football for the first time of my life. Beat red hot favourites Nth Melb by 20 goals and that record is still to be beaten I think. The famous footage of G lyon getting stretchered off is from that R22 match at Footscray. How handy would he have been in the Prelim against the Hawks at Waverley?? I am missing finals just thinking about it.

Round 22 '87 was the start of the best 3 weeks i can remember as far as footy goes. All the supporters of other teams were right on us-everyone wantd melb to win. The MCC Members against North the week after my Dad said was just like the '50's GF's. Those days shall return

  12. You young blokes have been spoilt with all our finals appearances in the last 20 years. I am 39 and enjoyed my first finals when I was 18! (`87, and how bittersweet it was!)

Yes i am 45 and will always treasure the '87 September Round 22 was just Surreal. Hugging total strangers at the western oval & all the way down Dynon Rd. Top Weekend!!!!

Great to see so many Young People on Here. We must organize a few more "Get togethers" soon. Raise more $$$$
