  1. I Agree with what you are Saying RR, But i still believe trying to win an away series in India is more important than being suspended for the following Test in Brisbane. Any Fines could have easily been paid by the Australian Public as there would have been "Civil Outrage" (Qick Whip around in every local Pub!!) Remind me-Who did we play in that first Test in Brisbane...New Zealand i think. Personally i would Prefer to try & beat India over there. If Ponting's hands were tied with that decision then it is an ICC digrace i believe...
  2. Luke Ball has put himself on the open market, that's it. He will play football for whoever pays him, we are in the Mix just like 4-5 other clubs. If he is the Best available player still available at Pick 18 the MFC should take him, if he has been snapped up by another team we pick someone else. The Only serious thing that happened today is a past Captain has walked away from his club for nothing. Must have been serious trouble down at Linton St. but hey what else is new???? But remember if we pay the asking price of 500k and Pick him at 18. Luke Ball will give 100% for us. He's a professional footballer. I will be interested to see if the MFC make a statement to us the members on this Topic.
  3. Just let them play wherever they want. These guys don't need coaching. They merely find the ball. Bailey could just sit back & enjoy the ride along with all our supporters. imagine a Jurrah 2, along with all our other indiginous players....I gotta sit down!!!
  4. I know he leaks runs, but he still took 12 for in his first game, & he should have been percervered with a bit longer. Fair enough he turned out to be another Darren Cuthbertson but i don't think the selectors helped his confidence much.
  5. Sure he was put on the spot, but should he have gone for the win. I say he should have had a crack for 40 odd minutes. If we had broken through, the over rate issue would not have been mentioned. But he Led the Team out after tea with the white flag up. I almost broke a really expensive Radio!!! & i am guessing i was not alone around the country.
  6. No but it was an interesting coversation with a then AFL Player. 4 Years Later Barnes & Essendon Smashed us Good & Proper in the Grand Final. We were not Feared. MFC would have been fearing The Bombers though i bet. This perception is what Stynsey want to eradicate..
  7. Sheeds was always going to be the First coach of GWS. No suprise to me this morning reading the Paper at all. Yawn....Just Herald/Sun selling Fish & Chip wrapper for tomorrow.
  8. Sure things are happening, infact i bet there are lots of talking. Its just not being made public at this stage. Why play your hand early....
  9. No he didn't lose us the match, BUT as Australian Capt. for the first 10-15 overs after tea he should have had a crack at it. That's the Australian way. If the Indians had held firm fair enough. But you gotta have a go, we took 3 quick wickets just before tea as i recall. The door was ajar... Maybe Ponting was under orders, who knows. I still say he should have had that 40 minute crack at it. A.B Tubby Ian Chappell, & S.R. would have...& you know that.
  10. Now that's what we need, a proper contact. Onya Chocko Sth Yarra aint that far away either Only Trouble is i gotta work till about 11PM that night (at this stage anyway) which is why the saturday christmas idea might still work for more people. But the Ball begins to roll.....sweet.
  11. Your opinions and my opinions differ RR, thats all it is. Yes there are around 25 ACB contracts given But only 12 spots on the team, Which is why i was saying a few days back that there should be 3 distinct sides. There is too much cricket on now, because of the size of those contracts they have to be paid for TV and sponsorships. so we have all these "meaningless" Games that are played and forgotten as quickly, right before a Test Series. No i wouldn't have played McGain again, but i certainly would have persisted longer with jason Kreyser.
  12. Selectors have not been busy enough, and when they have selected a new player that player is only given one or two games to settle in. Contracts are worth too much money now, its a problem when there are only 12 spots. With the Amount of money being thrown around in cricket now, we should have at least 20 selectors & scouts covering every state. The Talent is there. BTW when a captain comes out after tea in a test match more concerned about over rates, he is NOT always trying to win. The ACB contracts are too lucrative, yes its a tough schedule but with too much cricket on the incentive to win diminishes. It's Human nature. I have never doubted Punter as a Cricketer, just don't rate him as a captain. Never have....
  13. Pity he didn't captain the same way in india during the lat test series. More worried about over rates and his own wallet than trying to win. But the aussies have been great this series, i concur. To me though it just highlights how lazy the selectors have been over the last few years. Look at the amount of local good talent in this country (Victoria on saturday) & i should add Tasmania.
  14. That's a great idea..we just need a meeting point. Any suggestions??
  15. Absolutely, the last 5-6 overs were amazing. SEN stuck with it pretty closely without commentating!
  16. Don't ya hate that 45. Spewing is the only word i can think of!!
  17. Too Right!! One of the all time great wins...the team was full of new players....fantastic...
  18. I have to put this on record....never been a ponting as capt. person BUT that game last night was a classic, like winning the '87 World Cup! That game just might get Australian Cricket Back on top.. Well done to the injury riddled (and state Cricketers who got the Green & gold over the line.... What a match. RR your stats are spot on!!!!
  19. The fact that Television did not occur in Melbourne until 1956 is a problem that is not the fault of the MFC, & your post almost disrespects the players of that era...almost. I suggest you read the RED FOX again, and remember that other clubs have only won one flag in 150 years.
  20. Don't worry BB if Ball comes to melbourne he will have to train his ass off or those young kiddies will burn him right up. He would be aware of that....
  21. All this means is that the MFC has got to get its house in order in the next 2-3 years. Free Agency to some degree will happen. Hopefully after 8-10 years service. So the MFC have got to be in a strong position to bargain. I think it's what Stynesy was saying the day we re alligned with the MCC, that we could become one of the worlds biggest clubs. We have got to sharpen up as a club, Top to Bottom. And thankfully that is what is occuring by the look of it. If free agency was around back in the '50's we would have cleaned up, it can be done again....
  22. Correct..Saints are number 1 problem to deal with, We the MFC are number 2. Draft day has not happened yet, there is still time. People are just impatient these days....
  23. Great, in a few years time our history will once again be envied by all our opponents....
  24. RR i agree with every word you say here, Woewodin did a brilliant job from '97 to 2000, his application was flawless. He got the most out of his body. Flower was just a complete Legend who played in very poor sides. But always busted his gut for the team he trully loved. Never Bag Robbie around here Mr DVD watcher......
  25. None of those 10 Games have been at Kardinia Park though, so your answer is irrelevant. I asked a specific questin....When did collingwood last play a game at kardinia Park. is it that hard to find an answer??
