  1. News FLASH. Nice pun. Now, let's go after Hurley.
  2. The trouble with Brock and Davey being our best two players is that they are/were our best two players (according to some). Melbourne's best players need to be as good as Hird, Brown, Ablett, Judd, not Aaron and Brock. One of the markers of greatness is the ability to play a great game in a big game. Davey has never done that; in fact, he has gone conspicuously missing when it matters. If it transpires that Davey leaves because he can get more elsewhere, and by more I mean too much, then I'll wear it in the expectation that we will get someone potentially better. (Yes: potentially.) In four years time we might be saying "We should have traded Davey when he had some value." On the other hand, as long as we don't pay too much, I will be comfortable if Davey stays, even if he continues to be afforded the easy-kick luxury of a sweeper's role.
  3. Bingo: 2:59 [Comment From Tony T] Robbo is getting flustered. Good call? Bad call? 2:59 [Robbo] good call Woosh. Nothing but net.
  4. What's a bloke gotta do? No go on my second submission, either: "The only way Polak will get to Carlton is by tram." Content: tick. Punctuation: tick. Capitalisation: tick. Humour content: boom, tish.
  5. For the benefit of us fossils, "bob" has translated my comment into youth: Hats off. LOL. ROLF. NINEMSM. MFC.
  6. Oooo, tetchy: 1:16 [Comment From cheth] why peoples starting to rumour about davey is there something going on 1:16 [Robbo] this is the last post on davey. he is in discussions, not signed yet, clubs sniffing, Dees confident he will stay. NO MORE DAVEY Does that also mean NO MORE DAVIS, CLOKE, BALL, FEVOLA, LOVETT, BURGOYNE? May as well shut down the chat.
  7. Robbo didn't publish my comment: "Are we allowed to trade Miller, but keep his wife?" Can't think why.
  8. We should hold Robbo to this: 12:39 [Robbo] I think Davey will stay at Melbourne
  9. My post wasn't a Big News Extra Extra heads-up re the Ox, Davey and SEN - that's old hat. My post was a pointer that there was trade talk at the Hun and that it didn't take long for someone to ask about Davey.
  10. 12:19 [Comment From Luke] Robbo, Where's Aaron Davey's contract negotiations at has he commited to the RED and BLUE or is he walking? 12:20 [Robbo] club official told me this morning there is s till argy bargy on dollars but confident nevertheless
  11. Check out Robbo's chat session at the Herald Sun: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/live...f-1225780756989 Third question: 11:53 [Comment From James Newton] Whats the situation with Davey? 11:53 [Robbo] my big mate, Ox, told me he is staying
  12. Great insults #32: "... nearly as good as Leon Davis."
  13. Correct. The opposite is to try and build on a flawed list. Like Wallace did at Richmond. Patrick Bowden, Graham, Nathan Brown, Symonds, etc. A waste of time.
  14. Look at it this way: Is McLean as good as, or going to be as good as, say, Joel Selwood, Ablett, Bartell, Enright, Corey, Ling, Dal Santo, Hayes, Goddard, Judd, Gibbs, Murphy, Black, Cousins, etc, at al, and the rest of the leading on-ballers in the comp? So far, he's not half as good as any of them, and given his progress since the 2006 final against StKilda, he's not going to get any better, or quicker. If Carlton want to give us pick 11 for Brock, then we should take it while he has (or Carlton think he has) some collateral value.
  15. Also: no black cloud at Melbourne.
  16. I tweeted Schwabby about Scully. He tweeted about Garland; fingers crossed he will write something about Scully.
  17. For what it's worth. Here's a Twitter conversation between Cameron Schwab and Emma Quayle:
  18. After detailed consideration, following due diligence, assessing the big picture, the holistic permutations, looking at it every which way, the pros & cons, the cons & pros, the fors, the againsts, what is best for the club, the costs, the returns, the future of Twitter v Facebook, Magic v 3MP, Nigella Lawson v Jamie Oliver, in a word: NO!
  19. That was certainly the alleged situation when Port refused to trade Nick Stephens to Collingwood. It's how Stephens ended up in the PSD and eventually at Carlton, who had the first pick.
  20. The Wanchors might pass on Butcher because they are keen to load up on WA boys.
