  1. I think this highlights the difference between perpetual successful competitive clubs compared to us breaking that 57 yr drought. It was such a big event that he club did not have the culture to sustain the change. Off field we did not have the staff and culture to sustain it. Just thing back to the dabbler years, up and down. That ability to support it was not present. Goodwin came from a club that had the same issue. 2 flags and then nothing for a long time. Whereas I take Geelong has had success but a club focus and culture that maintains it. That takes time to build and embed into a club. Hopefully King, coming from a whole club culture of success and stability (Off field) can help change our culture to what we see in perpetual competitive teams in the players mindsets. We have a good crop of up and coming players and a brigade of experienced "star" and with modern sports science see them plays for quite a few years yet. Looking forward to a new approach this year and King in action next week.
  2. yeah you'd think they would have them all cued up.
  3. The key is how the responds. Tmac took it as a drive to win his place back. May as a big burly gf may work. It would negate his speed drop off. I guess we’ll see if we get any offers.
  4. But still have a premiership medallion
  5. His service got us a flag. The reality is we need to upskill the next gen. So his opportunities like Tmac was told would be less. So finishing off T another club will give him more game time, which is what he would want
  6. The obsession with a roof. But then again it's tassie. One way to get money external money for the project. They can boors against docklands.
  7. Yes, he was in my team.
  8. An extra 40 seconds could have made a difference given the attack at the end of the match. Even without the extra time, we had chances but couldn't find space.
  9. I agree 100%, her missing last and now this year has a huge impact on the team. (plus other key injuries) obviously we need to find aprucell replacement to do that role within the squad.
  10. Hore great. Most others fumbled and made poor decisions, pausing to find a handball and getting caught. And gee's some of the skills for some players, is still junior level, you can see them thinking on what to do, it's that slow. Missed early chances gave them a sniff and the won. Port deserved to win.
  11. Finally.... fast movement with kicks.
  12. not playing well. need to get their game flowing. Making some really poor decisions, such as 3 meter [censored] kicks that don't hit targets.
  13. We won't know until the boys play next year. Just listening to bucket response on the process. The successful coach would have outlined how he would get the best out of the current list and how he would build the team over the long term. King was the best at doing this. He has also worked in multiple successful clubs and got to know their systems and how they worked. What we don't know yet is the team that is going to be around him and implement his plan. Personally I am happier to go with a younger new coach with different ideas than the experienced group initially spoken about, that weren't interested. Even bucks was still on the fence, you don't want that in a coach.
  14. As far as I can tell it's a good appointment. Be in multiple successfu system and worked with different coaches with different approaches. Interesting they are allowing him to finish out the season, as they normally leave straight away, is the AFL maturing :) If we can build a sustained model of competing at the top as promised after 2021, it will be a success.
  15. Being in WA I didnt see anything of him. But like his old man. seemed to all in with effort which I liked on what I saw of him briefly. Whether you had potential? But Goodwin was set on who he wanted in first, so few had a chance to show their wares like brown.
  16. Gee the umpiring is bad
  17. was hoping for a cats/pies prelim at worst. Brissie kicking into the fwd line like us.
  18. 18 points and nothing to lose fort he crows.
  19. Hoping to see the pies fall off the cliff tonight....
  20. If a player wants to move, there is always a price both will accept. Though more clubs like us are holding players to their contracts. (So they should). Though they have Darcy for the primary ruck role, who is only 27, teenager in ruck years. The question will the it prove be too high. My case study is the movement of Kelly. It 2 first and 2 second round picks. The long term impact it had of taking away more young talent in those drafts that we are seeing the impact of today. While I believe that Jackson is a far better player than Kelly (Great player when not the first mid, he excelled with those ahead of him were the focus of opposition , freeing him up ) It would be a great coup if we can get him, this year or next.
  21. Just looked at the fixture, we don't play north in the H&A, as long as we stay 1st or 2nd (Them vice versa) and win our finals we wouldn't meet them until a GF.
  22. Yep, just saw their scoreline, again a huge score.
  23. Happy we won. Also happy that a team came out with huge pressure to try and break us as what's happened in previous season. We responded better than we have in the past. We need to adapt to our missing personal as its short season. In the end a win is a win.
  24. From the media the biggest rumors are Lever and May. Given the young fellas that stood up in their absence (Plus Tmac) makes their departure not as massive hole as in the pass. Until we get a new coach, and their have their plan on what type of players we need not much is going to happen, unless some players want a change. In the meantime the rumors keep us engaged with discussion. :)
  25. The problem is and he know it, who does he replace in the side.
