On one of the footy shows, they showed he is rucking event more this year than ever. We need to bit the bullet and bring in a second ruck if we want him to keep playing for us.

GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Geelong
good for half the qtr... poor skills when we have control to deliver the ball to the advantage of our players. Goodwins tactic were shown up in the 2nd half in terms of positioning the players. lets see if they change it up to adjust this qtr.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I agree, as are thread is about trading quality players out now, hence my post. I believe we have and continued injected high quality talent in the last few ears through the draft as you stated. My point that people are looking to trade out experienced established high quality players for draft pics. I don't agree with this approach, we tried it once and it nearly killed the club (Among other factors) as it kills culture. As for the current state of play for the team, the coaching team need to fix it. If they cannot then naturally the club will find someone who they believe can.

What model do we want, the Geelong model where they retain their provide stars and build the young players around them for sustained success or Hawks model or trading them out for some currency to quicken a rebuild. (not that they got along for their players in the end) I like the Geelong model. The question is their ability to stay competitive as a rule compared to other sides through great trading and player development. Yes they offer a point of difference compared to us due to their location (As yes there seems to be some fishy deals to get high profile players there). But internally they run an orgnaiustion that has been consistently competitive. The other point is their and the pies ability for older stars to remain at th top of their game till the end.

We will win
Great to know....I'll put the hose on us :) Fingers crossed your right.

Time to start a rebuild?
Your right, we continual to bring in the young players when they are ready. We also need to ensure we retain experience on the list otherwise the young players will get smashed and have no one to learn from. We have made that mistake before, so did the Roos and they are still trying to climb out.

Time to start a rebuild?
Agree they have great list management and refresh when needed. I believe with the focus on frequent early draft picks and playing the kids we are already doing that process. The difference between us and a Geelong recently are the recruitment of high quality established players. Though we were in line to do this with Houston for the first time in years. (Though long term I prefer the players we drafted) We have lots of what appears to be good young talent to keep the team competitive. The issue is how the talent is being used. Can a different coach with a different philosophy improve the team? Based upon our last 20 games, our current model is not working.

Time to go Goody?
I've ben a supporter of Goody, and had high expectations for this season with a better preseason and a fitter squad. But gee, we look really under prepared for the season. That is on the coach and his staff. I feel that if he doesn't fix it quickly after last season there will massive media and supporter pressure for him to go.
