  1. Like the Saints Doctor has fixed Freeman.
  2. Speaking of Paddy, he has had a terrible run with injury.
  3. It would actually end up as probably a straight swap of O'Meara picks for Fyfe, if it happened.
  4. If Harmes can improve his disposal, he can be useful. Since his shin injury, Vince has become the clanger king.
  5. 14 marks last week would have to be an attempt. Pretty hard to get a kick in the forward line yesterday, when first, it didn't get there much and second, when it did, it was kicked away from the Melbourne forwards and to the chest of Cats players. Yesterday's disposal by us, was as poor as I can recall.
  6. Maybe knowing he hasn't been at his best and has lost value, is what is affecting him.
  7. I think the last two games showed we had hit the wall. Gawn had carried the ruck solo all year. He looked a shadow of earlier. He needs some help next year. Others also played their worst games for the year. I thought Tyson as another example was terrible yesterday. In strong contrast to his form this year. Bar a few they all played shockers. As most admit, we are young, need games and physical development, but our list is much better than a few years ago and we add Oliver, Melksham and Hibberd for starters. A shocking loss but we will keep improving.
  8. Hope not. I will be praying for the Lions to get slaughtered and take no 1. They need it far more than Bombers and will be less dangerous with it.
  9. If that was true and the next 6 years were locked in, he has one to go on current deal, I would do the deal and do it quickly. Once committed to us and knowing his future, he can concentrate on his game and his upside is enormous. As our midfield gets better, so will the delivery into the forward line. He will be the recipient of those little chip passes, that Hawkins got yesterday. Hawkins doesn't take the big pack marks often, Jesse can. Jesse is also capable of playing up the ground as we have seen. I use Hawkins as an example because we played them yesterday and he is regarded as a top key forward. They are hard to find and we have one ATM. Everyone would agree he is worth say $600k to sign on, so the extra $200k per year may prove to be a bargain and the salary cap is rising and we have to spend it. If I said to you delist Michie and we keep Jesse or that Dawes pay is about 65% of what we need for Jesse who wouldn't jump at delisting Dawes and signing Jesse. At one stage Brown on "On the Couch", said pay him $1.5m per year for 10 years. Well that is gone. $800k if true is very realistic and could prove to be a bargain. This is a difficult spot we are in but I trust the FD to get it right, I hope. You don't clear guys like Jesse, you get the best out of them, as they are far and few between. As an example of how rare these guys are, a couple of clubs are looking at Cloke.
  10. I have banged on about poor disposal for 10 years now. We got the ball today, but literally handed it to them. Many of their goals were just gimmes from us. Disposal is the one thing I am really worried about, because it was atrocious in the last two games. With decent disposal, we would still have won against the Blues and today, while still a loss, would not have been a massacre. What I find very disappointing, is that some of the guys I would have expected to dispose adequately, don't. PS. No doubt we have improved this year, the results speak for themselves. Unfortunately we finished with two very poor games, which leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
  11. Wonder who finished the season with more optimism, us or the Bombers?
  12. We don't have to upgrade the deal, it is done.
  13. The pyjama, PJ.
  14. Looks like they wanted Oliver to get some VFL finals experience.
  15. Think you missed my point. We were discussing a match winner today, not in 100 games.
  16. Don't think a door stop interview could be called a press conference.
  17. He is clearly being given one year to try and make it again. Also I think Grimes will walk and it would have been a bad PR move to see both young captains leave in the same year. He was a very talented player who was cruelled by injury and giving him one year to see if he can get back to his best, won't hurt the club. The players will welcome the loyalty shown by the club and it may well help us from a morale point of view as well. If he makes it back we have a bonus.
  18. Loved this statement " if Goody and Nate get to hold up the Cup on GF day, it will be one of the best days of my life". Thanks Roos and PJ, for giving us back our club and respect to go with it.
  19. Russell Robertson was a terrible kick for goal. Over one summer he obviously worked on it and came back unbelievably accurate, for the rest of his career. Kicking technique can be improved. Jesse needs to work with Jack Watts.
  20. How did they go last week?
  21. Roos, Bombers, Blues , Saints and Hawks said to be the clubs chasing him. Tigers also mentioned in separate piece on sport news. Allegedly he has seen the Roos Doctor, who has allegedly declared he can cure him in 14 days. Praise the Lord. PS. Sorry I think the reference to the North Doctor is to David Swallow, not O'Meara.
  22. That is the big unknown here.
  23. A bloke we are thinking of getting rid of and a small bloke who hasn't made it, for a bloke Tim Watson described, as possibly ending up being the best mid to play AFL . Yep that should do it.
  24. It doesn't have to be as great as it was, as they are still a great club and clearly a destination club.
