I think there's an undercurrent of loyalty that you're alluding to here. The ol' playing for the jumper... That's now a changing mindset, brought about by several 'I am loyal and love the Club' players jumping ship for coin, motivation, greater prizes, or whatever. Chip's manager is in his ear….make no mistake about that.

Well, negotiations are precarious….he needs some encouragement? Mentoring? Perhaps, deep down, this is the promotion he has always craved, but couldn't verbalise? I still think he's an exceptional player and must not be lost...
