  1. Ive avoided this thread but i remember the Thursday afternoon training at the junction in late August early September as the grass had a whiff of spring, and the cans were on sale. Id pay good money entry if there was a chance of a similar situation occuring. Elsternwick oval is being redone and it seems like Bayside council would entertain the thought of something so bizarrely attached to their map actually making money. Parking, trams and trains close by. Its enclosed so you have to pay to get in. Cricket and the VAFA seem to have it but it is incredibly underutilized.
  2. Bugg and Pederson to have great years. Hogan and Petracca to stay promising. Tom MacDonald to be match winner again at least twice. ANB to be 1st 22. I hope to see more short passes lace out inside the 50.
  3. Queries remain over Salem, VDB and especially Brayshaw for me. We need them to be at their best for us to win at least one final. 2 out of 3 aint bad. I think Frost and Oscar will be better this year. I have Pederson getting early games and if not injured, having an excellent year. I cant see Lewis and Vince playing more than the 1st few games as they lack concentration. It wont be overlooked. This may play into Salems hands although he seems to have similar issues with discipline. We have the cattle but next year we need mids that feed forwards better than this year.
  4. Charlie Spargo 175cm Missed the season after shoulder surgery but known for his attack on the footy and goal sense. Originally zoned to GWS but now available to any club. Turns 18 the day after the draft.
  5. I dont have Gus in my 22. I cant see the reason for all the enthusiasm. I hope Im wrong. But to have him top 5 in his draft year - wow. It reminds me of a Beatles interview in there younger days "Hey John, what do you think about Ringo being voted best drummer in the world?" "He isnt even the best drummer in the band".
  6. It was aired a couple of years a go that Rory interviewed poorly. I read it here or somewhere else. His laid back attitude hides his determination. He is still quite the surfer dude but to quote Chuck Berry, it goes to show you never can tell. It could well have been why his family only had (multiple) face to face meetings with BP. They had no issues with any other club to my knowledge but its possible I may be the "token MFC" supporter in that strong Geelong/St Kilda crowd. And therefore I cop it. As my sister (very close friends of the Sloans) describes my allegiance to Melbourne then and now "its like he is supporting a brother with a disability. He knows he can only hope for the smallest crumb of success". Not my words or thoughts BTW. But I hope to Christ those days are over.
  7. Yes he did run way down the to the 40's. Not the point at all and why try to flavour the conversation Tim? BP was lying through his teeth and other clubs werent doing that.
  8. Im extra biased. Having promised the father of Rory Sloane that the Dees would take him with an early draft pick, the family watched as Blease, Strauss and Bennell's names were called out. I guess its hard for all families but BBBBP to this day wouldnt want to get into the wrong Uber. Rory was captain of eastern ranges and did not then and still doesnt rate Sam Blease, no matter what misfortunes befell him. If Rory comes back to Victoria Id say dont bother asking.
  9. Not sure if "Game sense" means kicking to a forwards benefit, but Rory Sloane does this regularly. Nate Jones has done it but is more likely to bomb it.
  10. Im still waiting for a home game against Essendon.
  11. We ran out of legs at the end of July for the 2nd year in a row. I think we are tough but the lack of being able to deliver the football by hand and foot is killing us too early in the season. By not allowing our players at least some some clean delivery out in front means it is yet another contest to fight. I think we have enough fight - most of the time, but playing smarter would get better results. Having watched a few saved games on Foxtel while couching it up after knee surgery reinforced my view. I do realise if you are looking for something you will tend to see it. Tyson and Jones are the worst offenders IMO. It never seems to bother either to stink it up.
  12. A relative who knows one or 2 of the boys socially, said that when Jack returned from injury late in the year he started having some big nights out. People note nightclub behavior. I saw Jacks lack of endevour and dispirited application around the same time. I dont know any more than that. It was a throwaway line2 months ago.
  13. Im happy. A future 1st round pick means we can trade into 15-18 and hand that over. Thats about what we may get for Jack Watts.
  14. Yes but if Hogan IS looking to be out of here OR we could get a late 1st/early 2nd round for Brayshaw or the Wied, I could settle if there is a midfield gun looking to come across.
  15. If there is another player about as valuable as Lever looking to get to us, then I would probably prefer to work with the players list than sell the future picks. If so then it looks more and more like J Hogan who may be packing his bags. I would prefer to see Brayshaw and later picks from next year, not 1st round.
  16. If Rory Sloane was leaving Adelaide he would be talking to St Kilda 1st and Melbourne maybe last.
  17. Im torn. Should we get rid of Tyson who cant dispose of it or jack Watts who can cleanly deliver but only gets it in single figures. Would both together get a 1st rounder?
  18. I would like to know if Barry Prendergast barracks for Melbourne or Carlton.
  19. You cant choose. Youre stuck forever. Suck it up.
  20. Im just impressed with all respect posters are showing to each other. Things that could have degenerated haven't.
  21. Many recite possession numbers. And Tyson has high possesion counts. His disposal is [censored] and has been for 2 years. You seem to think it isnt a big deal. I do think it is because I see us running out of gas 18 weeks into the season this year and last. My view is we are contesting fine but players are wearied from not getting enough clean balls to lighten their load and eventually it kills the team. Hawthorns well known ability to pinpoint kicks and handballs helped keep them fresh into September. Tysons not the only one but he is obvious because he can get the pill.
  22. Id throw in the Weid. They had a Weid from Fish Creek. They might want another. It would [censored] Magpies and North off no end, thats a bonus.
  23. I'd swap Brayshaw for Lever.
