  1. At the B & F "To Sammy Peach who said tennis wasn't a good idea 4 months after a knee reconstruction. Thanks Sammy."
  2. B & F on Jim Synes "He lived his life on the motto Whatever it Takes which for him was quite severe. He drank his own urine to stay alive. I'm not going to be doing that at quarter time. I promise."
  3. On coming 3rd at the B & F "You might think its arrogant that I had a speech and I only brought it out thinking I was going to be getting up a bit later."
  4. I was told Dons paid him this year not us. So to some extent at least the cost was mitigated. I believe we get to utilise his salary for this year in the salary cap next season. For what it's worth. I know I shouldn't be but I remain stunned by the deafening silence from the AFL press about them getting pick 1. It is a glaring example of how compromised the AFL Press are and how beholden to the AFL they are. There should have been a deafening outcry over this but there's nothing. Totally agree with your comment re nail in the coffin for AFL integrity.
  5. Wonder what Gil will be thinking if this eventuates. He basically gave them the no. 1 pick as a priority pick. They are obviously a mid table team not bottom of ladder. They are only there because of the tanking and Gil has let them get the benefit of picking up pick 1. If they then use it to shaft the AFL's investment in Gold Coast you'd have to wonder what they will do. They have right royally stuffed this one up, yet again. Another Essendon special care of Gil.
  6. Barrett only posts rumours he makes up himself he doesn't do it with rumours made up by others.
  7. Put simply. Saved the Club. Can't think of anyone else who could have done it.
  8. Why shouldn't Lions get one, the AFL have given Essendon one this year by giving them pick 1 as reward for cheating.
  9. Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. This is the bloke who as coach of Port called a Press Conference to announce the new coach of MFC, Bailey. One of the lowest dog acts I've seen in VFL/AFL history. He is also the bloke who instead of celebrating a Premiership win, runs down the steps straight after the win having a dig at the Club's biggest sponsor motioning a choking action with his tie around his neck. First thing he thinks of after a win is not the team or the great achievement but having a vindictive personal dig. Would be an absolute shocker for the team's culture.
  10. Agree with your sentiment in general but unfortunately it doesn't seem to apply to junior first time AFL coaches.
  11. Name me one. Was listening to SEN yesterday and they were discussing how first time coaches who get sacked never get another gig. Also saying they should be able to. Mentioned Ratten and s couple of other currents who it happened to. Given that history you'd want to be careful being a first time coach going into a basket case like Lions. That's why I always thought Roosy was the only person to fix us.
  12. I have a theory on his lack of speed and its very fixable if I'm right. He bulked up too much in his two years of rehab in the gym. He'll trim down in the pre season and get it right. His speed will come back to its best which isn't Hunt fast but which was fast enough. There have been many examples over the years of players bulking up too much which has caused them to slow down too much. They have then needed to trim down to get their speed back. (Think the entire Dons playing list after Robinson's first drug infested pre season) In the few games he played he showed he still has elite footy smarts, great overhead marking for his size and solid kicking skills. The Club obviously believe he can get back to his best or they wouldn't keep him on for another year. I'm sure he'll be on an incentive based contract with plenty of upside for each game he plays. What's the risk? You don't understand the modern game if you have to ask what position he has to play or who he will replace. At the worst, if he gets back he could play as a rotating player off the bench into the midfield, the half back line or the half forward line. Even forward pocket. If he gets back to his best there are many players his best is better than. Matt Jones played on the weekend. Bugg, vandenBurg hasn't shown a great deal this year, Melksham, at this stage Harmes. Vince will be gone in a couple of seasons, at this stage maybe even Stretch. Also ahead of a few fringe players such as ANB, JKH, Lumumba.
  13. Luke Ball showed the way to circumvent being forced into the draft. You just say I want $900,000 for one year and then I will walk. You then go to the Club of your choice and do an extension for minimum dollars so it averages out to a normal contract.
  14. I was there. It was worse than that. I'll never forget the Collingwood players cheering at the end of the game when the Dogs v Blues draw came up on the scoreboard which meant Dogs got into finals and we missed out. Mongrels.
  15. We couldn't have another ending like that one.
  16. Was just telling my son the same thing. At the beginning it wasn't even in contemplation. Each week the belief built. Round 22 still my favourite Dee's experience. Closely followed by the first two finals. Closely followed by one of the worst experiences of my life at the Prelim.
  17. Have you ever looked Saty in the eye? I have. The man has super powers. Why with one stare he can put a buffalo on its knees. A bit of horse whispering has done the trick with T Mac.
  18. All jokes aside. Sorry to hear that. We are a household of back problems. Fingers crossed for you that the surgery works. I've got friends who've had it and have had great results. Also sorry to hear that the medication is making you so mellow on here. Such a waste.
  19. Ethan, you really are on fire today. What's going on. Get a bit for breakfast or something. Or still affected by the afterglow of the weekend's success.
  20. Finally Stop wasting my time reading all these OP's about whether he will or won't.
  21. Thanks binman, you can but try. Punctuation seems to be a wasted tool.
  22. True. And don't we love it. However you can't blame those players. Treloar has been their best player. Aish is working his way into reaching his very high potential. And as we all know Howe is a gun........forward!
