Demonstone's No Sweat Simple Straightforward Smooth Stumper
Demonstone replied to Demonstone's topic in Melbourne Demons
The deluge has begun. First prize goes to @ManDee. -
Despite having run out of ideas for these teasers a few weeks ago, the tragic news is that I have devised a few more to taunt you with. This is undoubtedly the easiest of them all and I would expect it won't provide much of a challenge but, hey, not everything in this life has to be difficult. Following is a team of past and present Demons. Harry Petty makes the team (but not the real one ATM, alas) but Tom Sparrow doesn't qualify. What is the common factor that links all of these players? As always, answers in a PM only please. Clues should not be necessary and I am fully expecting a deluge of correct responses very quickly. ========================================================= B: Peter Walsh Harrison Petty Troy Broadbridge H/B: Jake Bowey Sam Frost Daniel Ward C: Oskar Baker Scott Thompson Steven Stretch H/F: Sam Blease Matthew Bate Colin Sylvia F: Michael Newton Jacob van Rooyen Gary Moorcroft R: Steve O'Dwyer Clayton Oliver Jordie McKenzie I/C: Glenn Molloy Dean Chiron Kyle Cheney Aaron vandenBerg SUB: Trent Ormond-Allen COACH: Norm Smith

Sparrow cops one week ban for rough conduct
Demonstone replied to Seraph's topic in Melbourne Demons
No news would mean that we're accepting the one week I imagine. I'd be very surprised if the club challenged this. -
I don't think it would go down too well with the coach and his teammates if any player did that.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Demonstone replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's a good point. Watson may not be the type we need the most. -

It's true that, at 170cm, Watson is on the diminutive side. When North Melbourne drafted the 172cm Brent Harvey, their recruiters were teased by Melbourne's own Ray 'Slug' Jordon for having selected a "jockey". Harvey of course went on to play more games than any other player in history and had a stellar career. Charlie Spargo is 173cm and Kade Chandler 174cm. If you're good enough, height isn't an issue. -
So that's two South Australians missing from the team to travel to Adelaide. Grundy and Nibbler had better not walk underneath any black cats or have a ladder cross their path.

Different bird altogether, @McQueen. He called his opponent a fluffy, pink flamingo and the Hawks player felt he had to put his foot down.

What might @WalkingCivilWar and the Demon Army make of this cheeky banner by GWS yesterday?

Sparrow cops one week ban for rough conduct

You have to pick your fights. We can't win this one. A week for that is par for the course. Take it and move on. -

How do you feel about their music? -
When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Demonstone replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
Has it really been that long? How embarrassing. -
I've been doing a little research on the name "Yartapuulti" and it apparently relates to that time when Port Adelaide draped entire bays at their ground with tarpaulins in an attempt to disguise the small attendances. Roughly translated, the word means "Yer tarps are ugly". To this day, Port Adelaide supporters pay homage to their heritage by singing along to the classic song "Never Tear Up The Tarps" before each home game.

In round figures, our percentage today was 200% and Hawthorn's was 50%. We doubled their score plus change.
-
For all that, they only outscored us by 10 points in that quarter. Hawthorn's last quarters this year have been as bad as ours have been good. Don't fret, Demons fans. We'll be sitting on top of the ladder tonight.

No Petty no Melbourne.
-
Interesting but perhaps not the right choice of word there, @Katrina Dee Fan! My doctor once prescribed suppositories but, not only did they taste terrible, they did nothing and I may as well have stuck them up my backside.

I get the feeling we're going to have smoke blown up our collective chimneys.

What they are saying at Waverley Park Drive
Demonstone replied to Demon_spurs's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think they're referring to Hawthorn forward, Jacob Koschitzke, not our esteemed. Mr Pickett. -
Can we start a crowd funding page to buy @AzzKikA a pair of scissors?

I could certainly do without the seemingly obligatory slow motion close up on the face of the goalkicker shouting "Come on!" after every goal.
-
Petty wouldn't be playing on Mihocek unless we sent him to the backline. You probably meant another "M" Collingwood defender. Murphy or Moore perhaps?

Siri is unavailable right now. Will Homer suffice?

From Simon Goodwin this morning. Don't expect to see Salem this week. Meanwhile, Goodwin said rebounding half-back Christian Salem (knee) faced more time on the sidelines, but fellow defender Michael Hibberd (managed) was expected to return against the Hawks.
