Demonstone replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jake Niall makes his case against the proposed mid-season trade. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/the-harry-hypothetical-why-there-are-problems-galore-with-mid-year-trades-20240205-p5f2d2.html -
No surprise that Petty is the Melbourne player nominated in this list. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/fit-and-firing-the-comeback-kid-who-ll-lift-your-afl-team-s-hopes-in-2024-20240204-p5f28b.html

PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 2nd February, 2024
Demonstone replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
In 2021 the sub was for injury replacement only. We didn't suffer any injuries during that game, although Harmes offered to come off to give JJ a run. Can't blame Simon for that. -
Looking forward to seeing his opponents getting knotted.

McVee spent his first year at Casey.

You reckon that Windsor rates Edmund? Dunno about that ... -
You'd face a dilemma if the AFL ever accepts a new team from Rio de Janeiro.

Anybody want to bet against the Tassie team a) wearing a predominantly dark green jumper and b) being nicknamed "The Devils"?

Sam Van Rooyen in for Ben Brown on LTI?
Demonstone replied to Wizard of Koz's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nobody is "happily frustrated" at BB's situation. However, a kid that no club considered worth drafting and is clearly nowhere close to being ready for AFL senior action is not a viable replacement for him in 2024.- 109 replies

I don't think we would even be having this discussion if Sam had a different surname.- 109 replies

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 31st January 2024
Demonstone replied to kev martin's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've heard people on Demonland complain that it's hard to get decent parking anywhere near Gosch's so I've just been down to check it out for myself. Good news people! I've discovered a perfect spot right outside the ground and, what's more, there's HEAPS of spare spaces if anybody's still looking. Let's make this our little secret and keep it to ourselves, hey? The road to look for is Bus Lane.- 127 replies

Michael Hibberd Hanging Up the Boots
Demonstone replied to Heart Beats True's topic in Melbourne Demons
They used to play in the Footscray District / Western Leagues where they had a reputation for being thugs. I think they now play in the Southern League, which would fit with Hibbo's Peninsula background. -

He did captain England so he wasn't a complete bust. -

He might come in handy if the opposition flood the forward line. -
I don't see that as a valid analogy. It's not as if the AFL is running an abbreviated form of the game (like T20) that is competing for attention. They tried AFLX but it was a dismal failure and deservedly so. Thursday night footy is not a threat to AFL. Personally, I love it. Too much footy is never enough!

I was thinking how awesome it would be to draft Yze early and Metha later. -

It's hilarious how this very minor issue has triggered the "Old man shouting at clouds" brigade.
