Thanks Paul. I love debuts. His selection puts a bit of gloss on what has been a very 'ordinary' week.

Hunty has been very solid, playing in an unfamiliar role, for most of the season. Sure, he has lowered his colours (quite badly) over the last two weeks, but I would argue that the absence of May, an out of form Lever, and a banged-up Petty, have buggered up our team defensive structures to the point where he has been exposed one-on-one, on much taller and / or stronger opponents, on far too many occasions This is clearly not his go. On balance, I’m comfortable with his omission this week, but I think your use of the word ‘pathetic’ says more about your understanding of the game than it does about Hunty.

100% agree with all that Jaded No More ……… but I would go a bit further, and describe May’s actions as totally disrespectful to MFC culture, his team mates, our Club, and our supporters and members. Sorry, but after singing his praises for several years, he has lost me. He has a lot of to do to regain my respect.

McStay would be a very good get, but do we have the $s in our cap to satisfy him? Doubtful imo.

Another fantastic podcast fellas. Something I genuinely look forward to ….… win, lose or draw! ps. Do we need an extraordinary poddy this week, given that there was so much emphasis on Monday, about the importance of Mr S. May’s inclusion against the Pies? ……… (facetious comment 😃).

May was clearly happy to allow his selfishness to compromise our team, our Club and its members and supporters. I'm disappointed and very annoyed. A leader(?) ............ no way!

Lingers had massive padding on his ribs, but still didn’t shirk a contest. Not his best game, but still left many of his teammates in his wake. Love him, he brings so much to our team.

6. Gawn 5. Brayshaw 4. Viney 3. Jordon 2. Oliver 1. Petty

After the ‘downer’ against Freo, there have been a few very early signs of the re-emergence of MFCSS amongst some Demonland colleagues. It’s a horrible ailment, and extremely contagious, but fortunately, a win against the Swans will put that to rest. Dees in a hard-fought 19 point win, to curtail an epidemic for at least another week.

I’m very happy with the extension. He’s missed so much footy that it seems like he’s just starting out, and with the attitude described above, he’ll get the very best out of himself, which if reports are correct, is a lot.

I love it! Getting back to something closer to our best. Plenty of time for the oft mentioned synergies to develop …….. besides, our MC know what they are doing!

Smack on the money, as usual guys! Thank you.

Somewhat surprisingly, justice has been upheld!

Excellent assessments. The vision of Maysie shows just what a pillar he is in our back half.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND: DANIEL TURNER
Deeoldfart replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Early days of course, but looking like another huge tick for our culture and development programs, and obviously Jason Taylor and his team. -
Yep. Definitely Lingers and his bro.

Thanks Lucy. Great and wide ranging interview. Gee Goody is on top of his game in the media these days. https://player.whooshkaa.com/episode?id=1001738

I'm disappointed with the loss, but not despondent. We went into the game without clear 'best 22' players in TMac, Langdon, Harmes and Salem, and lost May very early on. Petty's injury and Petracca's illness further added to our woes (that's almost one third of our best team either down or out). Out of necessity, several players had to play unfamiliar roles, and our team systems broke down badly as a result. Further, we've been 'carrying' a couple of out of form players for a few weeks now, and they will come under the microscope for next week's game. Like all clubs, there is a significant gap between our best 22 and our depth players. I'll be watching the Casey game with interest this arvo. It just doesn't feel like the start of a string of losses to me.

Too many absentees; too many down on form; and too many passengers today. It was inevitable that the dam wall would break under those circumstances! I’m more than happy to forgive and forget, but I expect some changes next week. A few of the longer term ‘down on form’ group might find themselves at Casey sooner rather than later. I really look forward to the Casey game tomorrow, which presents as an ideal opportunity for a few to promote their claims.

6. Brayshaw 5. Jordon 4. Viney 3. Oliver 2. Pickett 1. Fritch The first three for solid performances throughout the game. Oliver for his first half. Pickett and Fritta for some nice cameos.
-
We are missing a handful of our best, which brings the two teams closer together, but I expect our system to prevail. Dees by around 5 goals, I reckon. I’d love to see a significant improvement in our forward half connections and goal kicking accuracy.

System vs Talent: What makes Melbourne so good?
Deeoldfart replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I live interstate, and only hear Derm doing occasional ‘special comments’ during game-day TV coverage. That brief audio clip 100% confirmed the view I had previously formed about his worth as a football commentator. I’m still shaking my head. -
No surprises at our selection table. Dunstan the likely medi sub.

Another ripping poddy ……. Thanks guys!

The importance Sparg’s role is greatly underrated in the media, and perhaps on here. As a small forward, he is every bit as important to our team ‘values’ and performance as are Kossi and Nibbler.
